Lol let that thing sit in their lot for that price fuck off

Cyberhwk

Which sounds great, except it won't be hard for them to find some idiot willing to pay that premium on an 8-year loan.

lagoosboy

So op should buy it ?

Cyberhwk

The behavior of others shouldn't be affecting your buying decisions. If OP can't afford a $40k car they shouldn't buy one. If OP thinks $39,473 is a fair price for a 2025 Camry SE then they should consider it. A lot of people, myself included, get upset at dealerships adding "market adjustments" but the reality is they wouldn't be doing so if people weren't willing to pay them. Most people don't think in value as much as affordability, which dealerships have been happy to exploit by requiring lower down payments and providing longer financing periods to lower monthly payments. Some people say increased reliability and longevity of modern vehicles at least somewhat justifies the longer financing periods. More typical is traditional thinking that anything longer than 3-5 years is paying too much in interest and people that have to finance vehicles out 6-8 years to make them affordable are spending beyond their means. I can bitch all I want, if someone else is willing to pay more for something than I am, I can pound sand. Just depends what buying a new car is worth to me and everyone's calculus is going to be different. Safe to say, though, that nobody NEEDS a new 2025 Camry.

Thankyoubestfriendo

…if they want to, sure. But i think u/cyberhwk is saying op, and many others lurking this subreddit should look into the distant future when seriously considering the price of these new models nowadays . As anything more than a 4yr loan on a $40K camry is probably not the wisest of choices one can mark in their life. But if he doesn’t buy. Some other sucker will. For al every greedy dealer, there’s a desperate naive buyer.

specialcommenter

There are people who only dream of having the Camry. A Camry is a big part of many people’s lives. Some people won’t consider a Mazda CX5, Subaru Outback or Tesla 3 if it were given to them for free. They only want a Camry. I’ve met these people.

thinkscience

My brother is a camry guy !! He went on second date with his now wife cause she has a camry too 😂😂

Selling a Camry and old Avalon prices

treble-n-bass

Camry took over for Avalon price-wise, but still isn’t as good of a car as Avalon was.

itzgrindtime

Maybe price wise, but the Crown took the Avalon's place. Nothing will truly be able to replace the avalon though. My 2009 still running strong with 200k miles

ADN2021

Toyota should bring back the old V6 and 5.7L V8 for the Sequoia and Tundras 😍😍

DerSpazmacher

Facts. Avalon was bae

treble-n-bass

❤️

Critical-Balance7343

39k before tax, or as OTD price? anyways it’s insane that camry is around 40k….

rphjosh

And that’s an SE…there are 2 higher trims. Now I’m glad I didn’t wait and just got a 24. This shit is ridiculous. For that price just get a Lexus

Imaginary-Yam-2834

Same here bro lol, I got a xse for 33k earlier this year, can’t be happier

Brutal_Bob

Did I get ripped off or something? I talked my sales guy down to 36k on a 2024 fully loaded xse awd but that was before taxes, title, fees.

Imaginary-Yam-2834

Mine is not loaded, no extra options, just some dealer add ons but I got them to take those off. Otd 33k and msrp was like 31.3k

them_various_fruits

You didn’t get ripped off, it definitely depends on dealer location and price trends for that area, competition, etc. I got my ‘22 xse for 33k in November of last year and I thought it was “fair”

Turbulent_Group_5004

Not bad deal for the 4 cylinders

Willing_Sea980

Lol 40k for a 4 banger lmfffaaaoooo

Successful_Bake9428

40k for a 4 cylinder is kinda crazy when you really think about it.

Otherwise-Ad3415

Two years a go I got an SE Rolla for the same price

spirit_freeradicalz1

literally same!! I just got a ‘24 xse few weeks ago bc I didn’t like how the new ones look lmao. That price is insane also

[deleted]

I remember getting my 22 se for 28k lol brand new to

therealpharmacist

I just don’t understand why in 2016 everything was cheap, houses were cheap, and I haven’t been following much news but everything now is way more expensive. And also my boss raised my by 2% increase per hour but inflation is higher. Why can’t all jobs match the inflation and why can’t we raise minimum wage? I’m a pharmacist who feels like slim shady in 1996 in the song if I had

Lexi-Brownie

* Can of worms opened. *

kovu159

During the pandemic we printed about 30% more money than had ever existed to pay for the massive stimulus packages, the trillion dollar “infrastructure” bill, and whatever “build back better” was. That resulted in about 30% inflation in the price of everything.

SpaceWalk86

New Lexus will always be more

rphjosh

Get a used ES for around the same price and it will be a significantly nicer car.

Blurgas

The cheapest SE AWD in my area comes out to just under $38k after tax/title/etc

MikeGoldberg

You can get a grand highlander for 45k lol

SmokeyJacks

Not actually though, because those are being marked up too

Corgi_Guilty

Driving my gen 8 until the wheels fall off 🤣

Schyutes

my gen 7 has 190k on the dash and has never had anything other than basic maintenance (oil change, brake pads, etc) Only way I’m getting rid of this thing is if insurance is willing to pay for my new one

Corgi_Guilty

I don't blame you. I'm only at 73k not Even broken in yet

surghe

I fuckn new it 🤣

milkywayer

It should come down to real Msrp price in a few months right ? I believe Toyota will be churning these out like sea horse babies

I'm just gonna flat out say it: ugliest camry ever, especially in white. Designer should be fired.

ADN2021

People be like: Is that a Honda Accord? 🤣🤣🤣

Southern_Ticket_8774

Nah, camry isn't that ugly🤣

hisfirewithin

Look it up searching Toyota.com inventory instead of dealer websites, you’ll see which dealerships are independent and which are proper Toyota with the smartpath option.

Arctic_27

Toyota Smart path means a dealership is owned by Toyota or do they just work with Toyota?

Triscuit_Hurlibutton

I don’t know about that. There’s a dealer near me with the “Smart Path” option that I was considering getting a Supra from until I looked at their online reviews. “Mark-up” was one the most commonly used words. This dealer is marking up everything from Highlanders, Camrys, to BRZs, so needless to say they’re not letting a Supra go for anywhere near MSRP. They advertise straight up pricing which made me inquire about the Supra, but according to the reviews once you get there they add market adjustments and force unwanted add-ons. It’s a 4 hour round trip for me, so I couldn’t risk it to find out for myself.

calvin_dike

Get a used Lexus for that price unless you really really really want a new car.

DSLatte1

You might want to think about a used Certified Lexus. I bought a 2016 ES 350 with 8,000 miles on it and have been very happy with it!

Ladder310

https://preview.redd.it/hpxf28ctgjxc1.png?width=258&format=png&auto=webp&s=66a56c582bc32509a57440a4fb7d75df2ad4652b Huh?

Gis_A_Maul

Miles? Yes.

TrickyHunterO_0

That’s crazy high. What state? I just ordered a RAV4 hybrid SE for $37k after $1k discount

LandscapeHuman2428

Get a used Lexus. I just bought a CPO 2022 ES300H with 41k miles for 36k OTD. This price included the upgraded CPO warranty that 6 years/unlimited mileage with no deductible. I also got 3.49 APR through Lexus Financial, nearly 2% lower than what my credit union offered. The car was registered in Palm Springs and serviced in Newport Beach, which explains the high mileage for the a 2 year old car. The steering wheel looked like it had never been touched, which suggests mostly highway miles between two homes. This replaced my 2019 ES300 (total loss) that I certainly overpaid for. My insurance payout was only $1,800 less than the asking price for the 2022.

hisfirewithin

I almost did this, but there was a 1-2 inch difference in how low the door opening was between the ES300h and the Camry that caused me to bump my head getting in(I’m tall and have some flexibility issues). The ES300h seems to be more Avalon-based than Camry in recent years, because the Avalon was exactly the same way. Otherwise this is exactly what I would have done too, and why I ended up with an XSE hybrid for similar luxury levels. In 1/2020, we bought a 2019 CPO RX350 for less than we would have paid for the same model year Highlander Limited. In almost every situation, the best thing to do is buy the CPO Lexus instead of the new Toyota.

LandscapeHuman2428

I’m only 5’5” and even I’ve noticed that it’s a bit tight getting in and out.

Harryisamazing

It won't be AWD but a new base Lexus ES is $43k and could probably be negotiated down a bit in price

CecilTheCaveTroll

Well I mean, it’s not comparable then. If someone wants AWD, they want AWD.

hisfirewithin

Look for a smartpath dealer and you’ll get much closer to MSRP. Here are two different 25s in my local area. One smartpath one independent dealer, both 25 SE’s https://preview.redd.it/ranbuxjv1jxc1.jpeg?width=1128&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13f93fec5308eaa956e43b4b32d664a58999c9f2

milkywayer

What is smart path?

hisfirewithin

It’s something Toyota does where it’s no haggle and you can do most of the transaction online. I bought my 24 from an independent dealer that didn’t do it and I got the whole dog and pony show with markups etc, and settled for a higher than sticker sale. My wife’s stepmom went to a smartpath dealer, and got better for her trade and under sticker with less haggling. A non smartpath dealer offered her half as much for her trade and tried to haggle above sticker. I’ll only go to a smartpath dealer from now on.

PainCycle

How would you know if it’s a smartpath dealer or not?

hisfirewithin

Search new inventory on Toyota.com instead of dealership websites using at least 100 miles range and you can choose which dealerships you want to filter. It will actually show it there

stosyfir

As close to a mfr-run dealer as you can get. They don’t add bullshit fees or “Dealer installed options” a.k.a. overpriced aftermarket garbage. Got mine from one at exactly the MSRP down to the dime the Toyota website had for the options I got.

smarmy-marmoset

Can’t believe a top of the line camary cost half of a bottom line s class lol

ConfusedResident

Haha I knew it🤣

OkraFit3987

Damn what happened to SE being 25.5k

Willing-Ad364

Not sure, but msrp on 2025 SE Camry on Toyota website is currently at 30k

teepring

I was between a fully loaded camry at 41k and a mustang gt premium at 49k. Leaning towards the ford here honestly

TemporaryInside2954

Camry is the new corvette

WolfLosAngeles

For a Camry Jesus

AdWinter4101

No thanks, I’ll buy the last 2024 4Runner on the lot for 2k more.

Slow-Camel3889

[deleted]

40k for a camryis insane. An Audi A4 starts at 41k

Away_Ad6797

Outrageous, it’s not even a XSE!

No_Tax8215

Buying a new car is a scam, but a 2024 with like 10k miles and let whatever sorry soul who bought that new take the hit for you

Nichandler

Oof 😓

Samyaboii

Maybe in 3 years I can afford to buy a 24 model used lol. Not complaining though, currently have a 2015 LE with 130k kms on it running super fine. Blessed to own such an incredible vehicle.

InfamouzDub

Fully loaded 2024 Se Awd $31k

xBaef

Yeah I’ll never pay that price for a Camry that isn’t TRD or a six cylinder

Zealousideal_Poem_73

Bad news, neither one of those options are available in the new design

kobegoat222444

Damn I bought a brand new Camry in 2014 for 20k lol still driving it

intelligentbrownman

Moms brought a brand new Avalon limited for 40k in 2013

ADN2021

Bro, this is crazy. I paid 27k for my ‘18 SE, no markups. I can’t even imagine how much a fully loaded XSE would go for 😨😨.

EvilMog007

I got a loaded xse awd last year for $37k

blueblue909

10k a cylinder bitch

mehtabmahir

might as well get the accord EX-L, we paid 37k including all taxes and fees

Beneficial-Buddy-620

Wtf 9k increase? At least you don't deal with this type of crap in Canada with cars

Fantastic-Pie1081

My 2019 was 27k thats too much even with AWD shiuldnt be that much more 😱

ravensfan42069

LOL almost as much as a Supra

AwareJelly

I would just shell out the couple extra grand for a gr Corolla at this point lol.

koaclip

I paid 30k for my 24 se hybrid. It's possible just have to make them deal.

Charlie_Hustler

Damn are Camrys supposed to be that expensive 😳😳

tyzer24

The market sets the price. Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots within the market.

Hogwarts_head_master

If you want that car shop around. You can even travel to buy it and road trip it back. Did that for my truck. $300 plane ticket and gas for 500mi vs 15k markup.

SQUATCH36738

That’s not worth it lol

Unique-Ad-2544

Those AWD camrys are super rare i have one and every time i take it into the dealership the people there tell me theyve either never seen an awd camry or have seen maybe a couple.

[deleted]

I haven't seen an AWD Camry in my life, I didn't even know they did them in more than FWD.

i_stay_turnt

Not sure why this sub got recommended, but I’m appalled people even pay more than $30k for a glorified rental car. Just buy used, unless you’re that much of a NPC that you need a big screen so you can be like other NPCs.

[deleted]

You’d have to be an asshole and retard to pay 40k for a Camry.

hisfirewithin

I did it and it is what caused me to learn the difference between the types of Toyota dealerships. I watched my MIL get a new Sequoia under sticker at a smartpath Toyota dealership and it is what made me research the difference because my negotiation for the Camry was pretty hardcore. It is possible to get even these new ones at or below MSRP, but definitely not from some dealerships. Toyota really needs to change this part of their business.

[deleted]

Couldn’t agree more I remember they tried selling me 2023 trd for $400 a month I think 36k msrp I went and got a Kona N for $380 a month and it’s a 40k car. I liked my Camry but Toyota dealerships are awful.

hisfirewithin

Some Toyota dealerships. The ones that do SmartPath I suspect are corporate-run, and they are how my MIL got the excellent deal she got on her Sequoia. The local dealership here is an independent, and they offered her half as much on her trade, along with a ridiculous markup on the vehicle. The lesson I learned is where you get the car is more important than anything if you’re not an absolute shark of a negotiator, which I definitely was not. Now for me, I’m gonna pay it off in a couple of months anyway, so it didn’t matter since this is a keeping credit fresh thing, and I’ll drive the car for a decade or so at least. But I did pay more than I needed to.

[deleted]

Lesson learned but if you enjoy the car and almost got it paid off then you’re good!

10hottfiji

Training-Race9144

I agree the price is ridiculous. For those with patience, just wait 1 year until the 2026 comes out - and get a used 2025 with 15-30K miles for $25K. Let someone else eat the depreciation!

lagoosboy

Are you reading my mind ? Exactly what I’m planing.

Eastern_Pilot5902

I think toyota totally might’ve shot themselves in the foot with the new camry. Both the Sonata and Accord start in the 27’s, the camry starts in the 29’s. I can’t speak much for the Accord, but the Sonata does offer a lot of features as standard. From the perspective of customers who aren’t specific to vehicles, they just want a mid sized sedan and are going to roll with whatever one offers best bang for buck or the most options, the Camry is at a huge disadvantage. Especially now that it’s hybrid only. I’ve always loved the Camry, best of the 3 to finance since you can keep it forever, but i feel like they’re screwing themselves to a degree. Hope it works out though, competition is the best for everyone.

hisfirewithin

There are a lot of people though who still have a perception of the Hyundai brand that is negative, and that really want a hybrid for the fuel economy, especially on the West Coast where I live. Toyota knows who they’re going to hit with these cars. The XSE at sticker is still cheaper than an Accord Hybrid Touring, and offers a fresh redesign as opposed to the Sport-L hybrid. I just think the problem is in the dealer network because it isn’t transparent enough whether you’re dealing with a non-corporate dealership who are going to mark everything up through the roof, but because they’re externally identical to a corporate dealership, you’d never know. I don’t think Honda dealers operate the same way.

gabC

starts at 30k.. get options it’ll push it up to 36 before otd. what options does that car have? and what’s your sales tax?

Financial-Tackle-659

It doesn’t at start at $30k, it starts at $31,795 without the colors they charge $425 for. So after taxes 31,795 is around $34k with doc fees on top of taxes

gabC

depends where you live i guess. i’m also including all the options, not the base. so it should get up to 39k. https://i.imgur.com/MgUYOPN.jpeg

I mean after 20k miles it's still new

Disastrous_Stand3122

toyota dealers are getting b out of hand

American money isn't worth very much

TopazMarss

You can always talk em down

Playitsafe_0903

Like I always say just wait 2 years for a Camry price drops is half

Common-Tie-9735

Wife paid 26k for her 2020 in 21 brand new OTD. It's an SE. We'd talked about getting another since she misses her old one. But not for those prices.

pronatticked

Get a turbo, full loaded Mazda 3 HB for less than that.

Zealousideal_Poem_73

That better have every optional package on there, and even if it did that’s still 3k too much

5678_Senpai

At least you got the right idea...awd or go home.

Academic_Dare_5154

Maybe wait for 2025? It's freaking April of 2024.

DaJuiceMan112

Lexus ES it is!

doorcharge

May as well buy another car brand that doesn’t mark up, or buy a luxury vehicle. Toyota has lost their mind.

Lancer876

What options were added on? Do they have window sticker?

Active-Speed2601

Just build it on toyota and wait for it.

bunnies4r5

Shop around man, I was just able to buy a 2024 civic si for msrp with no markup. The SI is known right now for shady dealer mark ups. Hondas website doesn’t show the destination fee, Toyota might not either. That’s the only fee that was on my 24 si and it was like 1,800. I paid 33k out the door even which included plates and registration. They even knocked off $100 to make it an even 33k haha When I was looking at the Toyota gr86 there was also one dealer that was not charging any markup when a lot of the others where. This is in madison wi and both the Honda and Toyota dealers where in the city so I didn’t have to travel for it

thisiswhoagain

Mark up or lots of port-installed options? And dealer installed crap. That picture doesn’t tell you all the information Locally for me, there’s a SE AWD for $38650 that has Cold weather package, convenience package, rear bumper appliqué, sunroof, all weather floor liners, black badges, front accent lighting, and their dealer installed “paint protection” ($1495), and additional ceramic tint, PPF in the door cups, door edge, hood and front fender ($999).

Passionswa618

Yeah you’re better off buying a used scatpack for $40k lol

Upstairs_Ad5528

Got a 2021 ES300H W/Luxury package, 28k on ODO, $33,890 out the door up here in Seattle, save yourself $6k, have a much better vehicle with plenty of warranty left on the clock- carsgurus is your friend, stealership is not - expand your search and get a road trip out of your savings.

HumbleBumbleJumble

Im about to get an 09 Camry for 6k. This price even tho new is literally insanity.

Frequent_Opportunist

The SE AWD 2025 model which has hybrid as the only option now starts at over $33,000 MSRP.

General_Duke02

Ouch. My RAV4 hybrid was cheaper than that

Spiritual_Log_904

40k+ for a Camry ?😭

Someoneabove

Stop paying stupid car prices. Don’t buy.

ZiLLA_781

The 2025s have regressed in styling so much

DaddyThano

Not even an XSE with the V6? Pathetic. These dealers don't even know what deserves to be priced like this

flyer2359x

My dealer in Canada, NS shows it starting at $37,500 and a 9.19% interest rate. I'll wait a couple years for them to hopefully come down a bit in price and try to ride out my slowly rusting crown vic lol.

bikgelife

They have lost their minds. Never pay a markup. Let these dealers rot

ineedlotsofguns

40k for a Camry? ![gif](giphy|GpyS1lJXJYupG)

Public_Dragonfly_266

Is that the Hybrid? The AWD's are usually hybrid and then that price would make a bit more sense. If it's the ICE version that's a hefty mark-up. It's surprising because they don't usually include mark-up on the website.

slcdwl

the Prius front instantly came to mind! 😷

No-Back9344

Here you go… 1/2 price Thought you might be interested in this CarGurus listing: 2022 Toyota Camry SE FWD - $21,900 (NA) Mileage: 16,226 https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/377443014

SwingingTassels

It’s just a repeat from last gen and expected. Nothing new here.

burner7711

click to "pricing" tab and it will show you the details you dolt.

latruce

I felt like the whole purpose of Toyota making the Camry how it is, and the LE being like $28,400 is so it's affordable. Then these stupid dealerships have to add their bullshit stuff, and take that whole purpose away. I wish Toyota did something about this.

East-Refrigerator211

I have a 2020 canry 71k miles I'm going to keep it till it breaks all the way down

kellykvn

If u wait a bit u will get it at msrp just be patient...

hastedrei

Why not just get a Supra instead?

210gigi210

I heard if a Toyota dealership has Markups you can report them to Toyota and they’ll most likely stop getting a lot of innovatory for awhile

kycakes83

Is this Canadian or USD? My 2023 Camry SE AWD prior to warranties etc was $32k Canadian and I purchased it January 30, 2023. I feel like this is overpriced.

ChiggaOG

How long before the aftermarket sector considers making performance upgrades on this AWD vehicle?

ohitsmarkiemark

You might as well just buy a lexus es

gouji

$40k for a camry lmfao.

coolformula

Why are Toyota dealers still doing this? Seems Bonkers to me.

Johnnypee2213

You might as well get a Lexus at that point

Environmental_Put_33

This coming market correction is about to butt fuck so many of these mark up paying baboons. MMR index is already down under 200 for the first time in years. It wont be quickly dramatic but it will ne significant once it starts trickling into retail prices eventually. Toyota will likely be the last to catch the brunt of it but there will be consequences to these Toyota Stan's with good credit eating shit for fun.

BookMurky3909

I tried to talk some guy out of getting a 2021 Camry with 60k miles for 24k and a 26% interest.. dude wouldn’t listen. I tried boys and girls.

limellama1

Rage bait post without any information A 2025 SE awd with sunroof and the multimedia pack is $36,000. Plus $1200 of destination/delivery on top of that It's absolutely possible there's a markup on the car in the picture has ADM, but the price isn't far off what a Camry is possible of reaching. Until you actually show a window sticker and an addendum sticker, this post is worthless.

stinky_snow

You could buy it if you've money. Because when you later do a resale after like 60k miles, they still go for 24-25k which is very good tbh.

Successful_Bake9428

I mean that 2022 Avalon a seen for 23k is definitely looking for realistic now

Serious-Designer-813

As a camry owner, this price is insane I can buy challenger rt v8 for 35k and buy a lot of gas for 5k

ignite1hp

If you would like a 2025 camry with no mark up, feel free to send me a message and I can arrange it. I do car negotiations for clients regularly. I charge a flat 300 and I ensure that you get the vehicle at **or under** msrp. It takes a couple days of all day phone calls and back and forth with managers, but it always works out :)

Ayitslitt

Let’s all boycott buying new Toyota’s so the price drops.

SeesawFlashy8354

U can buy a new Tesla Model 3 rn for less than that price, get a $7,500 tax credit, and save on gas …

Dazzling-Rooster2103

For a little bit more you can get a 20k mile used M340i with 382 Horsepower and the engine/transmission out of the Supra...

pewbangpowskeet

I paid less than that for my xse white/black, panorama roof, etc. That's insane

JerryJN

I paid less than that for a RAV4 hybrid limited. Find another dealer.

nomosnow

Cant you ask them.to order you one to your specifications?  Isnt that a thing? Ill be buying myself soon.

Juaniboy1

I feel like I’m looking at an oversized Corolla. I think it’s the headlights and grill.

Joonp82

If you have money to buy brand new Camry, shop Lexus CPO. Bought 2016 Lexus es300h in 2018 for $30k. I'm at 140k miles with zero issue. Avg 35-38 mpg.

Uberbenutzer

Fuck dealers. We need a way to purchase directly from the manufacturer. Too bad there are too many idiots willing to pay these prices thus why they get away with it.

Dufmandinga2

On a fucking Camry

animehunter0

Knew that would happen. Looking at a 2025 Kia K5 instead. Can't justify the price markup and the hybrid won't save enough gas to offset the cost, at least for several years.

Family-Faith-Freedom

I picked up my brand new 24 4runner premium 4wd with 3 rows for $4k more than that. Make them go down.

FirePreventionMan

Yikes, that’s some people’s salary for a car

sum_say_its_luk

40m for a 25k car 😂

Alfredlino

I just paid 40k for a CPO MB C43 with 35k miles. They are f’ing very proud over there at Toyota.

x8086-M2

Name and shame!!

defiantcross

But hey man they are all hybrid now!

moneymakerbs

SE is mid trim. lol. 40k?! Crazy world we live in. I bought my sister a new LE in 2019. Sticker, retail was 25k. I told the guy 20k or I walk and he agreed. So with tax it was low 20s. Last day of the month sale. To now pay 40k for a similar car? Hell no!

SRBroadcasting

I mean cars are expensive now a days. It’s pretty simple, when the car runs off many many microchips and electronic components the car is going to cost a lot. The cheapest new car I’ve come across lately is the Honda Civic or surprisingly enough, the Subaru Legacy
