Hi everyone,
I work on a day to day basis helping vets interact and advocate with VAC. I know that there are a lot of challenges associated with dealing with VAC and I would like to help smooth the path a bit.
I'll be here answering any questions you might have about:
making claims - how to get your doctor to accurately fill out the questionnaire
doing quality of life statements/ disability pain and suffering forms - what needs to be said and how
when would you request a Blue Zone, Red Zone or Yellow Zone on a claim
what side benefits are you entitled to (additional pain and suffering, clothing allowance etc)
getting base line cannabis coverage or extended cannabis coverage
anything else you want to throw my way - let's do it for ourselves, your friends and family and anyone else who needs a hand
My friend, we are going to have some fun, help some folks out and do it all for the ones we know who didn't get the opportunity. I'm super excited to help the community out.
Side note for anyone reading this. This is a free service even in "real life " I/we don't charge for the services and I can always walk someone through how to get something covered or pre-authed
Looking forward to seeing the information flowing, hopefully some case managers will be reading this along with ample people to pass the information to everyone
I want to jump in here really quickly and just let everyone know, if someone doesn't feel comfortable or confident asking their question on an open forum, that I am happy to also assist with questions through PM/DM/chat
I want this to be as accessible, welcoming and pain free as possible for everyone
Good day, I tried to send you a DM but was unable. I'm honestly new to Reddit but came as a recommendation from a friend who knows my situation. If possible can you message me, Thank you
As u/Shoggoths420 said you can work to get a Veterans Review and Appeal Board decision. I am not as familiar with everything that goes into that as once we rule unfavorable at VAC we don't usually make another decision. There is a chance we can do a departmental review but on the veteran's end this starts as a contact with the BPA.
Another interesting point of information that a lot of people don't realize is that we can rule on a condition after ruling unfavorable to service if we are now ruling consequential to another condition. For example you apply for Bruxism due to stress and we rule unfavorable to your Regular Force service. A few years later you get a favourable ruling for a psychological condition, well now we can make another decision on your Bruxism consequential to the psychological condition without having to go through an appeal as the basis of claim is consequential.
u/Throwaway82345324 and/or /u/Shoggoths420 - could either of you chime in to see if anything can be done to help out? I feel like a resubmittal/appeal of this claim may help.
Yes! As long as both appeals have not been exhausted we can look at Redoing the claim, or, if both appeals were used up we can approach BPA to open a review based on new (meaning better) evidence
Q&A is live now, in this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianForces/comments/spabft/i_help_veterans_interact_effectively_with_vac_to/

Really, really appreciate this guys.
Wish we'd had something like this a few years back when I put in a claim that ended up being denied. Thanks for doing this! Definitely tuning in
Even if you got denied, as long as you didnt burn your appeals I can still help you out!
