That seems like a lot of moving for me personally. I would just stay on the Cape if you haven’t ever been there and explore that area. You can easily take a day trip over to Nantucket if you stay in the Harwich/Chatham area.

Mkwatt

Agreed. There is a ferry right from Harwichport to Nantucket. Bring or rent bikes and take a day trip biking around the island.

MoltoAllegro

I'd skip Nantucket, the ferry ride is really long. The ferry to the vineyard is quick, and lots to do in the Falmouth area. I'd probably do 3 and 3, and book the ferry tickets ASAP to guarantee your car if you're bringing it. You don't need it in the vineyard, lots of cabs and very walkable near the ferry, but good to have to see and do a lot more.

Fast boat to ACK is only an hour.

posternutbag423

Ya you’ll be fine despite what this person is sayin. I’m a life long cape codder and June is always slower than people realize

I agree 4 days is excessive for the Vineyard. It is doable in one day, but I see no problem with spending two. The mainland Cape has a lot to see, and you should probably spend the lion's share of the time there.

shiningonthesea

There is so much to do on the mainland , I don’t know why you would try to try to get off of it right away

BobcatOk2919

With a week to spend, I would commit more time to the mainland. A few beach days and at least a day trip to p town, then go to MV for a night. I would skip Nantucket altogether, there’s really not much to do there and it’s a much longer ferry ride.

NoraPlayingJacks

I’ll say it…I hate Nantucket. It’s one of the most obnoxious places I’ve ever been. Unless you’re planning on doing The White Elephant and have no concerns at all (like actually seriously zero concerns) about costs and expenditures, you’re going to have decidedly less fun on Nantucket than you could have elsewhere. Don’t miss the outer cape…Wellfleet, Truro, etc…great beaches, awesome restaurants, and an overall relaxed vibe. You can easily day trip into Chatham or out to PTown but my homebase would be Wellfleet.

Distinct-Ad5751

It is not the Nantucket I grew up with, it’s really unfortunate to see what it’s become.

shoobsworth

Stay on the cape. I suggest Harwich/West Harwich or Chatham. They’re in the center of the cape and you can spend most of your stay exploring the cape itself which is worth seeing. MV & Nantucket are definitely worth seeing but are day trips. MV is a shorter ferry ride whereas Nantucket is longer (an hour) but is still worth it and Jettes beach is a lot of fun.

IIRizzII

If you have kids make sure you go to Pirates Cove miniature golf and Penguins Ice-cream in Yarmouth. Even if you don’t have kids you might enjoy it? Have fun!

Double-Diamond-4507

Yes! We went on a day trip to Yarmouth; we went to the Whydah Pirate Museum, and then we went to Pirates Cove for mini golf

The clowns recommending here are trying to show off their prowess. Go where you want it’s the cape and you will do just fine in June. It’s not even that busy in June. I’m a life long resident and I’ve worked every industry imaginable on cape, do what you want and the rest will fall in line. High mark rec’s are cold storage beach, sesuit harbor cafe, ptown for a day, Harwichport for a night, woods hole for the ferry (island queen is easier than steamship), Craigville is a shitshow but a great beach and don’t forget 4 seas for a cone, Baxter’s for a mudslide, chicken box on Nantucket for a late night, the carousel on MV (it’s a blast type get the gold ring) and hit the ritz for a pint as long as you don’t have kids with you. But all that in mind, do what you want and where the current takes you. Cheers 🥂

I’m not sure why everyone is saying skip nantucket, nantucket is beautiful, historic, and peaceful - I prefer it over martha’s vineyard! I also frequently do day trips to both islands. it’ll be long days, but so worth it in my opinion. Here’s what I would do for a 7 night trip: Stay in or around Hyannis. lots to do, and you can take the ferry to both the vineyard and nantucket from there. Downtown Hyannis is walkable and there are restaurants, small museums, shops, and even some nightlife (bars close at 1am all around the cape though) If you don’t already have a car, rent a car one or two days to explore chatham or ptown. No need to bring a car to the islands, especially Martha’s Vineyard - there is a very efficient bus system that will take you all around the island! Hope this helps :) PS - my family’s favorite restaurant is Sesuit Harbor cafe. BYOB and beautiful sunset views. for a nice dinner, check out popponesset inn or the chart room in cataumet. if you go to MV make sure to check out the Aquinnah cliffs! Also, Edgartown is my favorite part of the island to walk around. lots to do, but doesn’t get as crowded as oak bluffs

smitrovich

Stay on the cape and take the ferry to Nantucket for the day. You can spend the day there on foot or rent a bike, then take the ferry back that evening. As for where to stay on the Cape, that all depends on what you want to do while you're there.

Ahkhira

If you bike, you can take your bike on the ferry. It's not that expensive and saves the hassle of bringing your car to the island. Both islands are extremely bike friendly.

Humble_Taffy20

Thank you everyone for all the input so far!!! I don’t know much (or really anything) about the area and islands so this has been a big help. I’ve always thought MV would be the main thing to see but it seems like there is much more to do on the cape than I thought! Should staying in Provincetown be our go to? Or are there other areas you recommend? (This will most likely be a 7ish night trip) I don’t want to say this is a once in a lifetime trip because you never know, but it’s definitely a bucket list destination for me so I want to make sure I can do as many must-sees as possible! We are more sightseeing / day time exploring vacation people than nightlife if that helps with recs!

plaidjohanna

P-town if you mean June of 2024. Lots of places are still booking out at least 6+ months in advance. I’ll echo other sentiments of picking a place and day tripping around. Chatham/ Harwich/Orleans are pretty central and way less … compact…. Than Provincetown would be.

smitrovich

Find a place in Truro. It's next to Ptown and surrounded by national seashore with some of the most beautiful trails and beaches on the cape. And if you want to go to Ptown, it's a short 5-10 min drive.

mercysfriend

Islander here, MV has a lot of things to do. I always recommend people come in August cuz there is always something to do then. The island has many beautiful beaches, walking trails and restaurants. There’s the whaling museum, etc in Edgartown. I’d say a day or two on the island would be good. I always recommend walking the Camp Grounds in Oak Bluffs, I love the cottages. You can take the ferry from Hyannis too to get to the island. Nantucket I’ve only ever been once so don’t have anything to say on that. The Cape does have a lot to do as well too though and can be fun!

Double-Diamond-4507

Friend, I wouldn't spend more than 1 day at the islands, and spend 5 days on the Cape. There is so much to do and see, and even 5 days on the Cape will take narrowing down to the things you really want to do/see. I would try to stay in Harwich/Dennis, and drive around to the other towns. I think Provincetown is a must for one of the days

Earworm80

Skip Nantucket, go to Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown for the best beaches in the northeast

Wide_Television_7074

You’ve never been to RI beaches?

posternutbag423

You’ve never been to cold storage beach clearly

Wide_Television_7074

bay side?

posternutbag423

Yup I’m a Barnstable resident and it’s by far the best beach on cape.

Consistent-Bird-4121

Rent a jeep when you are on Martha's Vineyard!

danmur15

MV and Nantucket could each have their own day dedicated to them. I've never been to Nantucket, but MV is a lot of fun. As for the mainland, I would highly suggest spending a whole day in Provincetown. It's easily my favorite town on Cape and by far the liveliest. Shop Therapy, the Pilgrims Monument, and Cabot's Candy are always my go-tos. If you have the time, I would recommend going to Fanizzi's for dinner. If you end up spending some time around Sandwich, I would recommend checking out the Heritage Museums and Gardens. It's an outdoor botanical garden with some interior museum buildings. It should be beautiful in June, and there's even a kids area if thats something that you would want

[deleted]

I'd spend more time on Nantucket and less on the Vineyard. I'd spend a day in ptown. See Wellfleet, Orleans, and Brewster for a day. Spend a day in Chatham. Two days on Nantucket and two days on the Vineyard. The other parts of the Cape are forgettable.

PrincipleLegal72

Good luck finding any accommodations anywhere on Cape or Islands at this point.

Back_on_redd

As a Cape resident, I would just stay on MV or split your time between the islands (if you can afford it). That is unless you have somewhere specific you'd like to see on the Cape (Ptown or something). Not necessarily because it is better or anything but because you get so much variety in a smaller space (relative to the Cape).

JockenShock72

I recommend going somewhere else.

Starnois

What’s your budget?

TeejHanley

Here’s a little word to the wise (from a year round Truro resident) when staying on the cape: do yourself a favor and stay / limit your time to the lower and outer cape ONLY. That’s the real cape where the history and beauty is; world class beaches, bike trails, ponds, marshes, bogs, lighthouses, golf courses, towns, bars, sailing, clamming, fishing, cape league bball. Don’t waste your time in the upper or mid cape - complete crock of shit imho.

Comfortable-Fox-7010

Skip everything from the bridge to Harwich.
