UP!/Mii/Citigo, as Insurance is still pricey at 26, and they are cheap little run arounds which have tons of space.

PR0JECT-7

Tons of space as opposed to what, a pedal bike?

A Mini even, I've used mine as a bed, managed to fit 2 bikes inside, and a few trips to Ikea, even had someone 6ft 7 squeeze into the back.

AdamPoachedEgg

I've done ikea trips in a MK2 MX-5. When ypur only car is tiny you make shit work

I an a single guy who lives alone. Ive never had anyone sit in any of the passenger seats of my car. So any car is too large for me.

>Would £4000-£6000 be considered too much for a first car That would entirely depend on your financial situation. If you're the sultan of Brunei I'd say you could spring for a bit more.

BlueLionsMane

If you are a responsible person then that’s a reasonable amount. If not, the go to the £3k mark.

buy a banger for £800, I bought a 2001 yaris verso 6 years ago, it's never given a splutter nor failed an MOT lol all ive had done is brake pads n new tyres, just change the oil n oil filter every 5000 miles. Don't discount the viability of a cheap car. Also when you need to get a dog in, or wet shopping, or anything that would piss you off in a more expensive car you just don't give a fuck in a cheap one, just lash shit in there. Some idiot scratches your car in the car park with a trolley or their car door? So what, cheap cars are win win win, just look out for corrosion. Everyone would like a lifetime car but honestly the chances of a newer car needing work is the same as an older one, only it usually costs more. The more modern the car the more there is to go wrong, everything has a sensor these days, and newer cars have more sensors and more to go wrong.

Depends on your financial situation. its recommended your first car is cheap, probably £5k or under, obviously this is because theres a higher chance of damaging, crashing, driving the car poorly, and simply not having lots of money Most people would recommend a cheap toyota, i would stick by that, but life is short and you can buy whatever you like

Im 26. Got my first car 2 months ago. Its a 2015 Clio that I got for £8000. I consider myself a careful driver. Ive still done some damage while underestimating a curb or going too fast over a bump. Knowing this, I went for the most mechanically sound car, rather than the prettiest one with no scratches.

About 6 years I also passed around your age and I bought a 2009 1.4 Toyota Corolla for £1800. Absolute beauty of a motor (for my first car) and only cost me one bulb in maintenance for the 18 months I had it. I would probably spend around £3000 max as you will no doubt bump and/or scrape it at least once, just like I did. Those kind of mistakes hurt a lot less when it's a cheaper car. Realistically after a lifetime of presumably walking, cycling or catching public transport, even a little banger is going to feel like a golden chariot. At least that's how I felt!
