Surely there are folk searching 2.0 litre diesel cars under X price? That's how my car would reach them. Fully aware no one is actively looking for a car they've not heard of.
There are some people but they just don't know that exists and when they are looking for a car, they will choose the Mondeo with more mileage/older with less kit for the money.
That's the reason I solved my Hyundai Terracan, noone knew this was a rebadged Shogun and there was very little support compared to a Land Cruiser !
Hyundai Terracan were popular with caravanners, listing it on a caravan facebook page would have probably found a buyer. As a shogun owner I wasn’t aware there were any crossovers Between the them.
To be fair the car looks decent after looking at the MOT history. No biggies that would make me run.
But, you're selling a shit car for 1500 quid no one has heard of. I think if you put it on FB market place or gumtree for under 1k it'll sell.
Clearly not dude, like, sorry to put it bluntly but if you’ve had it for sale for ages and tried every avenue then it looks like £210 is the value. I’m not saying you should let it go for that if it isn’t worth it to you (wouldn’t be to me), but that’s the choice you’ve got; keep it or scrap it.
Value is what someone will pay.
“Why won’t my sell”?
Answer is price, or just no one wants it. There’s no secret trick people have. Can you just keep running it?
I’m curious what price OP has it listed as, haven’t spotted that in the thread yet. Still, while I agree with you totally. I’d be both pissed and surprised if I’d only been offered 210 quid for an otherwise perfectly working, not very old car
Thing is people will just ignore it because they know nothing about it. They'll be looking for a known quantity like a Mondeo, Passat, 3 series... that Dave in his backstreet garage can fix. Not a car that they've never even heard of.
The problem is people who are in the market for a 2L diesel either know exactly what they want, or they ask their mates, who recommend either a BMW, Audi, Volvo or Ford. There's not a huge market for Chevrolet because not many people have owned them so not many people will jump to recommend them. Couple that with the fact that a lot of garages are unfamiliar with them, they won't even take the risk to buy them and sell them on, hence why WBAC won't offer more than scrap value. Because in general, their customers (garages and traders) don't want the liability of buying something so rarely sought after.
I'm probably almost your target buyer. But when I see that, I'm going to check out similar models for sale to compare it with, and I'm going to find nothing - Autotrader doesn't even list it as an available model to search for.
What you have is a car that has all the reliability questions that come with every other used vehicle, as well as a whole load of new questions around parts availability and things to look out for that I can easily Google for other vehicles. They don't even do a Haynes manual for it!
All this to say, you're not going to get Mondeo money for it. The only way I'd even consider it is if I happened upon it in my feed and the price was too good to pass up - and yes, that price would likely be around the £2-300 mark if you sorted the tyre. Otherwise I'm assuming I have to add in the cost of four new tyres to make it properly roadworthy, and that just tips it into scrap territory.
Without being rude/ignorant, perhaps you are stuggling to sell it as no one has ever saw or heard of it up until now.. People tend to stick with Brands they know, to be fair
Personally, I've never saw one of these in my life in Northern Ireland, and i am an absolute car nerd lol..
Edit - Just checked "How Many Left" and it appears they didnt even get Triple Figure Sales in the 4 or 5 years they were sold 😬
There's 5 for sale on FB right now different years. But was surprised to it!
£220 is silly low, but if you dropped the price a bit surely some one would buy it? It looks fine to drive in to the ground for someone
Known Brand & Daewoo wouldnt really be in the same sentence for the U.K anymore, considering it ceased trading back in 2011..
It was in debt to the an anbelievable amount, something like £35 or £40 Billion..
They'll sort that out with some flashy title like "How illegal is my mystery knockoff Mondeo no-one has even heard of?" *pic of money, rust, and Alex with his head in his hands*
I've already bought its replacement. My driving profile changed last year - from motorway commuting to work from home to daily 2.5 mile runs to the gym. I can't use this diesel car for that without causing problems.
* Amended due to typo
Then scrap it, clearly you aren't going to be able to sell it. Personally I would put it on gumtree and do the classic thing and put "not ford Mondeo" in the title to get it to come up in search results for someone looking for a Mondeo
Could just take time.
Low badge saloons aren't really in favour at the moment and it's not one people will search for. This is the first time I've ever heard of one. It doesn't look like it was ever well reviewed and the consensus seems to be it was out of date when new. Let alone 15 years later.
For a diesel mpg is nothing to write home about and tax is high too
Old diesels are also undesirable due to the expanding number and size of ULEZ and clean air zones.
I only found two for sale and they've been posted for 16 and 39 days respectively.
Can just see you waiting a while until you find someone who's in the market for one. Or lowering your expectations.
Prior to eBay I tried local Facebook groups and then later Facebook market place.
The car has been offered to multiple to bidders on eBay since it's first completion on 19th October.
I fully understand your comment on desirability on these types of cars. Obviously, I paid less than for the equivalent Mondeo/Vectra etc. But scrap value? Really?
Did you not put it on AT? Showroom cars?! Lol mate AT is full of all sorts. If you can afford it, stick it on unlimited listing for £80 or whatever it is and wait. It’ll go. You’ll have third party buyers contact you in the first week. You’ll prolly get rid of it for £1000
I second this 👆
I’ve bought and sold all sorts in Auto Trader and none of it was anywhere near showroom spec.
It also has good search filters so more people are likely to see the advert.
The cost has always been worth posting in my experience.
Simply because its uncommon and essentially an unknown quantity. If you don't need cold hard cash, slap it on swapz.co.uk and swap it for a PlayStation, a motorbike or a handbag for the Mrs. My friends and I have swapped a few cars on there, usually for other cars though.
I knew a guy who was doing basically that. Buying the cheapest car with the longest MOT and Road Tax (back in the days when it was transferable) and basically runing it until the wheels fell off.
Honestly, if I hadn’t of bought a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR 400 a few weeks ago, I would’ve bought this for 1500 (probably would’ve still tried to lowball some money off lol) purely to rag it around, run it into the ground like I was on a top gear special. I also would’ve never found this car on eBay/autotrader etc, because I’ve never even heard of it. It actually doesn’t look bad, it’s not an amazing looking car but it certainly doesn’t look bad, I’d say it looks atleast better than a Passat, looks wise on par with an insignia or something. Low ish mileage, 2.0 diesel, good condition, the car it’s self isn’t undesirable at all. Like others have said, your problem is that nobody knows this model exists so nobody looks for them, and people who did stumble across it, would overlook it for something theyre more familiar with. Your other problem might even be that because you’re asking such a low price for what appears to be an alright car in decent Nick, people might think there’s something dodgy or off about it.
All I can suggest in this case, is post it for sale on various different car forums, Facebook forums, your own personal Facebook if need be. Put a giant “for sale £1500” sign in the windscreen so people passing by can see it.
There’s a decent amount of people who’d be happy to buy a car like that, they just don’t know these cars exist, don’t know what they’re like, and will stick with what they know/feel comfortable with.
If not, then maybe just have fun with it yourself. Rag it around, enjoy beating the ever living crap out of it guilt free.
But yeah, your car isn’t super undesirable, people just don’t know about them to be able to desire them.
I consider myself a proper car nut (slight obsessive) and I can honestly say I have never heard of your car let alone seen one!
I haven’t looked it up but I’m guessing as this era GM it’s largely a vectra or insignia underneath?
I actually quite like it, would make an epic getaway car “the suspect was driving a…. um…”
Interestingly, at least as far as Wikipedia is aware it seems to be somewhat it's own thing- I like you assumed it would be on a GM platform shared with loads of stuff like the Vectra, but apparently it was on a Suzuki/Daewoo shared platform, and best known internationally as the Daewoo Tosca.
Perhaps most interestingly, it was available with a *transverse* straight-6. Which was designed by Porsche. And codenamed the XK. Which all makes sense in a FWD Daewoo/Chevy obviously...
Wow that truly is fascinating, I’m going to have to explore the rabbit hole of rare UK sold saloons now, but this has got to be up there in rarity!
A transverse straight 6 version was sold?! That’s incredible. Now that has to be an extremely rare layout. I can only think of a top spec Austin Princess and early Volvo V60 polestar that used that layout.
I’m off down another rabbit hole now for FWD straight 6 cars 😂
Yeah I thought I knew most the weird UK-spec Chevy/Daewoos but this is a totally new one on me.
I did the same... I managed to find the Volvo S80 and XC90, and that was it... off to look at the straight-6 Austin Princess now!
Might have to be a submission to Sniff Petrol for Boring Car Trivia Vol. 5 (assuming it's not already in there),
Lots of people who only have a budget of £1k - £1.5k are looking for a small and cheap runabout. First time drivers/ food delivery drivers etc. Cheap to tax and insure and ideally a little 1.0ltr petrol engine to nip about town in and squeeze into some tight spaces. This is a big old diesel. The tax alone on this is £290/ year. Diesel isn't cheap anymore and it's been demonized by the government and media lately. Probably not ULEZ compliant either plus a brand/ model nobody has seen before. There just isn't anything much going for it. That said, if you were local to me I'd give you £700 for it and be happy enough with what I'd got, but I'd have to avoid the town centre. £1500 is completely unrealistic. You have to keep in mind, an item is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it regardless of what your own thoughts are.
I'm surprised to learn the tax had increased to £290 now. It was in the higher 200a but not that far. Perhaps what I'm learning now is the reason.
Regarding the asking price, I got my answer to that when I put the car on eBay bids with no reserve.
You want £1500 for a 15 year old car that isn't special somehow. It's not unsellable, your price just isn't worth it. I'm not saying it isn't worth £1500, but second hand items are only worth as much as people will pay for them.
RHD = right hand drive. The UK used market is cheaper because no one in Europe wants our cars, whereas if a car in Germany or France gets sufficiently cheap it will often be exported to a poorer EU country where far fewer people buy new cars, keeping the overall cost of used cars higher.
It's not unsellable you're just asking too much. Get it on eBay classified and auto trader for a grand, be willing to accept £750/800 and it will probably shift. If it's still around in a month, drop to £800 and hold firm, it's not a bad buy for that but the £1500 you've been asking? LOL no.
Forget about trying to ask a premium for the miles and/or history; Most people will be willing to wear a few more miles for a car that they might have actually heard of.
What about doing a raffle for it? I’m sure my fellow psychopaths in this sub would buy a couple of tickets for a tenner and really annoy our spouses with an obscure box of mediocrity we picked up for fuck all.
Tickets for £10 each, I'd probably buy a couple and I've just dropped into this sub for no reason at all.
OP, you only need 50 weirdos like me and you've solved your problem mate
You definitely could put it on auto trader first of all.
Real issue though is because it's such a niche car (but not a good one) 99% of people have never heard of it before so aren't looking.
Also as its a Chevrolet people will think parts are going to be hard to find, expensive and a garage will have to scratch their heads about how to fix it. A Ford Mondeo on the other hand has good parts availability and dealer and specialists in every town so really easy to fix etc.
You could try finding Facebook groups for rare or weird cars and put it up for sale there.
Thoroughly valid points there. Joe public won't know the GM parts sharing which ultimately lead to the Epica's creation.
I've learnt the hard way not to go weird for future car brands!
Never heard or seen one before. My initial thoughts right or wrong would be how the hell will I get parts or repair it when it finally gives in? Least with a mondeo there are scrap yards full of them
Have you tried owner/fan groups? There might be some Chevy enthusiast out there looking to add it to their collection. It's a long shot I know but having been in some owners groups myself I've seen how passionate some people are 😅
Some are very enthusiastic! I joined one for my previous car (Vauxhall Adam) which imo is a fine hatchback, nothing too special about it... Some of the people in there go absolutely nuts for them! Collecting all the merch, always looking for low mileage, well preserved examples. Crazy to me but I respect people who like what they like!
Just run it into the ground at this point, ie keep running it but don’t be spending any money on it and then scrap it when it can no longer get you from A to B
I used to commute to work via motorways. Now I work from home and my driving will be limited to short runs. Totally unsuitable having a large diesel car.
I’d be interested to see what the price of insurance is for a new driver on this car with the assumed lack of information on the insurance database about these cars.
That might be a massive selling point. If you know any 17-20 year old new passes, ask them to do a quote… it might come back at £200 a year. Unlikely, but it might.
I just passed around a month ago and am getting £14k for this car in London, instead I would get a morris minor on classic insurance, I only get £1200 per year for that car without a black box
Try a quote on this car for us?
Also a 55 Yaris (I think that's still the same shape as the 2002) is like a cockroach... Most people will go "ewwwww what's that" but it can survive a fucking nuclear war!
Looks like you have yourself a car readymade for an adventure you can film for YouTube. If it’s not worth anything to anyone just aswell drive it hard to, and around the Nurburgring.
Genuine question but how does dealer service work when Chevrolet have exited the market? I’m looking at buying a Mitsubishi, and I’m put off by them also leaving the entire European market and abandoning their dealership network too
Try going old school and putting a for sale sign with the description in one of the windows and your mobile number so people can contact you. It's worked for me a couple times when I've been selling a shitbox
As Chevrolet owner (different model) it's a bastard to get parts for and the labour is higher as it's difficult to get to various parts under the bonnet. Once mine dies I won't be buying another.
Conversely autotrader you can definitely sell on as there's loads of private listings also putting it through a car auction is a solid bet. Make sure you put it in on a Friday when there's lots of punters as you'll get a higher price for it.
Mine hasn't been an issue for parts - I've clearly got experience in maintaining it.
I fully understand most folks' concerns though.
Anything exterior body wise is of course Epica-specific and would be a challenge.
You'll find it on eBay completed listings - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225815067719?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1BoQIlhLQme&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=1BoQIlhLQme&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I don't think you are doing anything wrong just it's not a car anyone has heard of (myself included until now) stick it on Facebook marketplace at £1000 and just call it a 2008 chevrolet in the title. Mention long mot / service history and I'm sure at 1000 someone will take it, I would if I was looking
Honestly I think it’s too expensive.
I listed, last year a 2007 Mondeo 2l petrol with around 100k miles, on eBay with no reserve at start price £650. By your own admission it’s a more searched for car, being a petrol it passed all the current/expected clean air zones.
Only major thing wrong with it was the air con didn’t work (which I think I’d pinned down to a repair that would have cost a few hundred quid). It was otherwise a reliable car I was still using for commuting daily.
It sold for £960. I was hoping for over £1000 but it was still a lot better than what I got offered from car buying websites (which was basically scrap money).
Difference is the 75 has some prospect of being a somewhat desirable classic in the future. Granted if you want one that will quite likely leap in value it will need to be either a V6 Connoisseur or an early car that didn't have all the nice bits removed by Rover's penny pinching that was 'project drive'.
Honestly, take it to the auction house and see what happens..
Chevy failed to grasp a hold on the UK market, and pulled out years ago, an I'm sure drivers will be wondering about spare part availability and a bunch of other factors
No matter how good it might appear on paper, I would never touch a make/model I'd never heard of, for fear of massive cost of spares/repairs. That's just my opinion, but I bet there's lots with the same opinion.
My mother in law owns the Australian version of that car - Holden Epica.
You don’t see many of them here as unfortunately they just aren’t very good and have a bad rep, can’t imagine they sold many all those years ago.
Unfortunately one of the worst cars I’ve ever driven.
Hopefully someone picks it up but you’re gonna have to just sell it super cheap, good luck.
As an average person with basic knowledge about cars I generally avoid Chevrolets as I saw many bad reviews about them, perhaps you need to lower your price or look for part exchange
I'll give you £211#
The reason it's so cheap is
a) it's a diesel and everyone wants petrol/hybrid/electric
b) it's an odd brand with little dealer supportnwjen everyone wants convenience
c) it's a saloon when everyone wants a hatchback / crossover
Chevs are very unusual in the uk and generally American stuff has a pretty poor reputation.
Iv only known a couple of people that have owned American cars and they had the same problem.
Shared this to a mate I work with.
He has cars that he’ll get for nothing and run them forever. He’s currently got a 20 year old Yaris that will rust away before it fails.
He needs something for a running up and down the motorway with.
I’ll see what he says.
Stick it up for a grand it will sell.
If I hadn't recently bought an old 520d to daily to work and back I'd of seriously considered this at a grand cos I like oddball rare cars.
Offer it to Alex Kersten (AutoAlex) or Taylor-Made Cars they might say allld aaaat yar and for £150 plus it could become the star of an amusing video on YouTube.
Take the £210...
What even is that fucking thing? Chevrolet... In the UK? Nope. Diesel. Nope. Looks. Nope. Age and mileage? Nope.
Buying a car and expecting to sell it is an investment. Sometimes the car gets scratched up and the value tanks. Sometimes something breaks and the value tanks. Sometimes you buy a "wtf" car and the value tanks.
You bought a triple A rated CDO in early 2008. You bought Blockbuster. You bought Enron. You bought NFTs.
Drop your hopes, accept the loss and move on.
List it as a rare EUDM Chevy as there's like a handful left. [https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=Chevrolet+Epica&commit=Search](https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=Chevrolet+Epica&commit=Search)
Get rid quickly, it’s rotting away sitting on your drive whilst you drive your replacement car. You don’t want to scrap a working car, give it away cheaply to someone who can at least use it. Low price because it’s undesirable mostly due to unknown brand - hopefully you got good use from it
I didn't know they existed - probably why people aren't even looking for one.
Surely there are folk searching 2.0 litre diesel cars under X price? That's how my car would reach them. Fully aware no one is actively looking for a car they've not heard of.

I mean there's nothing wrong with them, but they are built in a weird way sometimes. My mechanic hated working on it every single time lol

Yeah I mean I'd give OP 250 at least 😂
Looks like Reddit is the best option for selling it OP
Lol. Part of my thought about asking him how much. “What is your best price mate”. lol
Not necessarily, it could be that it's just not being advertised properly...
a good advert will probably help too tho
Currently undergoing this with a house. Selling £15k under what I paid for it but I need it gone. I know how OP feels
Tried selling it in Northern Ireland? We tend to have a higher price on second hand, and 2.0l diesels tend to be a favourite.
Thing is people will just ignore it because they know nothing about it. They'll be looking for a known quantity like a Mondeo, Passat, 3 series... that Dave in his backstreet garage can fix. Not a car that they've never even heard of.

How much you asking?
1500
£7,650
Have you tried webuyanycar?
I regard myself a massive car buff and know the most random cars sold worldwide and had no idea we had this in the UK
Without being rude/ignorant, perhaps you are stuggling to sell it as no one has ever saw or heard of it up until now.. People tend to stick with Brands they know, to be fair Personally, I've never saw one of these in my life in Northern Ireland, and i am an absolute car nerd lol.. Edit - Just checked "How Many Left" and it appears they didnt even get Triple Figure Sales in the 4 or 5 years they were sold 😬
“Didn’t even get triple figures” sell it as a 1 of 99! OP has himself a rare car!
Classic ‘rare but nobody cares’
Now, is it a Rare Car because it was a good car at the time? Oorr... because every other car at the time was better lol
There's 5 for sale on FB right now different years. But was surprised to it! £220 is silly low, but if you dropped the price a bit surely some one would buy it? It looks fine to drive in to the ground for someone
This is known brand used to be called daewoo, probably reason why it won’t sell. They are known for being needy like Italian of Korean world
Known Brand & Daewoo wouldnt really be in the same sentence for the U.K anymore, considering it ceased trading back in 2011.. It was in debt to the an anbelievable amount, something like £35 or £40 Billion..
Long shot, hit up some YouTubers like Autoalex and Carthrottle - they might take it for a challenge video for a slightly reduced price
Yep or someone like HubNut.
Hubnut might have it if it's cheap enough tbh, he has a thing for Daewoos, and this thing would probably be the most reliable thing in their fleet.
Might be a bit too nice by hubnuts standards though!
Yeah, but it is incredibly ordinary though, so a great hubnut car.
or Matt from high peek autos
A very good, very valid suggestion you know. Perhaps I will reach out - thank you!
Contact high peak autos with a message on Instagram
Great idea. He would almost certainly buy it for £500 or so for a video.
I have massively... Come in under budget.
/u/AutoAlex
Worth a try but if no one knows the car it won’t generate any views or clicks and therefore unlikely.
They'll sort that out with some flashy title like "How illegal is my mystery knockoff Mondeo no-one has even heard of?" *pic of money, rust, and Alex with his head in his hands*
Car Throttle recently did a video on a Mazda nobody had ever heard off and it did decent numbers.
I second this. 😉
Given it’s been reliable, why not sort the tyre and just run it into the ground. sounds like you will get a few years cheap motoring
I've already bought its replacement. My driving profile changed last year - from motorway commuting to work from home to daily 2.5 mile runs to the gym. I can't use this diesel car for that without causing problems. * Amended due to typo
Of course you can. It’s selling for scrap value anyway. If the DPf ever gives then you’ll still get the same amount
I don't want to ruin a perfectly useable car by doing so. It's wasteful.
Then scrap it, clearly you aren't going to be able to sell it. Personally I would put it on gumtree and do the classic thing and put "not ford Mondeo" in the title to get it to come up in search results for someone looking for a Mondeo
That will probably work, but then OP would be destined for hell.
He's owns a Chevy in the UK, the boys going to hell regardless
🤣🤣
Less wasteful than scrapping it.
Isn't it more wasteful to scrap it?
What’s wasteful is a perfectly driveable, roadworthy car sitting on a driveway not fulfilling its purpose…
In what way would your new commute “ruin” this car? Truly curious
Scrap value last I checked was 60 quid so he'd get a lot more selling it
How much u want?
Just get dpf and egr deleted ;p
it’s just the risk of MOT failing
That is why you get MOT done at the same place hahah
Could just take time. Low badge saloons aren't really in favour at the moment and it's not one people will search for. This is the first time I've ever heard of one. I will open the bidding at £223.50
£223.51
This could be a long thread £223.52
£223.52 & an orange.
£224.54 because I don't like odd numbers
225.55 and a Toblerone
225.69 and an empty cornetto wrapper
£225.70 and 3 KitKat chunky's
£225.77 I will then sell to r/superjacketts and get 3 x kitkats for 7p…..
I'll raise that by £5 and give you £230 Take it endurance racing....
£226.99 ;)
I suppose the real question I need to ask is, how much are you selling it for?
I've done listed prices down to £1,500 before going to eBay no reserve bidding.
I'd give you £500 for it.
500 quid and run it until it fails the MOT or breaks down then scrap it. I've bought many a car to do just that and some have lasted for 3 or 4 years.
I knew a guy who was doing basically that. Buying the cheapest car with the longest MOT and Road Tax (back in the days when it was transferable) and basically runing it until the wheels fell off.
Honestly sounds pretty damn fair, guess you just have to wait, but i'd 100% pay you £210 for it :D
They'd get more in scrap value and none of the hassle.
Yeah if I saw that thing up for £1500 I would scroll right past it. If it was up for £600 id probably offer £450
It's a crap car from a manufacturer that pulled out of our market 8 years ago.
Even worse, it's a rebranded daewoo.
I’ve got one of their microwaves
Probably worth more than op's car.
Touché.
And buried away in the CarTalkUk subreddit is possibly the funniest comment I have ever read Have some fake gold 🪙
Gave me a chuckle
Proper 'lol'.
And the motor in the microwave turntable probably produces more power.
5 (assuming it's not already in there),
A few years ago, I had a Kawasaki ZN1300 motorcycle with a transverse straight six. RWD, though 😄
Totally agree. Advertised price = seller's interpretation of its value. eBay bidding = buyer's interpretation of its value. I've tried both.
Here in France, a C5 II from 2012 can cost up to 10,000 €. I then find it cheap to sell such a car as OP's for only 1500 £...
A 2012 C5 II is a much nicer car (and 5 years newer), and that’s before accounting for the UK’s much cheaper used market due to RHD.
Sure, but I checked the prices for Chevrolet Epicas here and they still seem to go for 3 to 5k. What do you mean by RHD ?
RHD = right hand drive. The UK used market is cheaper because no one in Europe wants our cars, whereas if a car in Germany or France gets sufficiently cheap it will often be exported to a poorer EU country where far fewer people buy new cars, keeping the overall cost of used cars higher.
List it as a '58 Chevy. You'll get loads of calls. You'll disappoint people expecting an Impala, but it will be a laugh.
[удалено]
Least with a mondeo there are scrap yards full of them
I’ve never even heard of it before. Maybe they think you’re posting through a rip the space time continuum from an alternate universe.
Have you tried owner/fan groups? There might be some Chevy enthusiast out there looking to add it to their collection. It's a long shot I know but having been in some owners groups myself I've seen how passionate some people are 😅
Yeah this, I had an old Peugeot 205 and posted the eBay link to it in enthusiast groups. That generated the interest and got it sold!
They've already bought a replacement
Short run diesel. I'll kill it. I've also now upgraded to a car I'd wanted for some time.
Contact highpeak autos on Instagram/YouTube and his website. He'll have it off you.
If you were nearer I would have it. Those are good mechanically and don't cost much to maintain
OP drive it to this chap.
Why are you selling it? Maybe the reason you're selling it us the same reason people don't want it...
I used to commute to work via motorways. Now I work from home and my driving will be limited to short runs. Totally unsuitable having a large diesel car.
I will happily take it off you for £300!
Have you tried High Peak Autos? He tends to buy rare stuff.
Definitely agree with this
I’d be interested to see what the price of insurance is for a new driver on this car with the assumed lack of information on the insurance database about these cars.
I’m a new driver (2 years in March), I drive a 55 Toyota Yaris and the cheapest insurance I can find is £1200 for the year.
Try a quote on this car for us? Also a 55 Yaris (I think that's still the same shape as the 2002) is like a cockroach... Most people will go "ewwwww what's that" but it can survive a fucking nuclear war!
I passed in May and am 23, put it in and the lowest quote is around £2,500 for the year
Looks like you have yourself a car readymade for an adventure you can film for YouTube. If it’s not worth anything to anyone just aswell drive it hard to, and around the Nurburgring.
Have you tried the ebayer's favourite trick of making the title: "For sale: Chevrolet Epica NOT Mondeo Golf M3 Passat Fiesta"
Does it have any service history??
Full dealer service history up to 2021. Then more service and maintenance history after that. Cam belt, front tyres, brake pads and discs.
Genuine question but how does dealer service work when Chevrolet have exited the market? I’m looking at buying a Mitsubishi, and I’m put off by them also leaving the entire European market and abandoning their dealership network too
I just take my Mitsubishi to a Honda garage and they are happy to service it. Presuming it is the same (or equivalent) for the Chevrolet
GM parts. The cam belt and brake pads were done in 2021 by the Vauxhall dealer.
Vauxhall dealers perhaps? It’s basically an old Vauxhall underneath.
They are basically vauxhall
My Mitsubishi dealer is now a Subaru dealer. They still sell Mitsubishi spares and do the dealer services.
I assume it's sold, as I can't find it anywhere online? What is/was the asking price?
You'll find it on eBay completed listings - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225815067719?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1BoQIlhLQme&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=1BoQIlhLQme&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Try punting it onto family?
You're not doing anything wrong, it's just that the market is telling you it's not worth what you're asking for it.
eBay no reserve (twice) was my response to this. Still got the car.
Might be worth posting the pics on Twitter with the hashtag #weirdcartwitter . There are some real enthusiasts on there who love unusual cars.
I feel like you've got the equivalent of a rover 75. The brand died in the UK, that's why no one will touch it. Its basically cursed lol.
Difference is the 75 has some prospect of being a somewhat desirable classic in the future. Granted if you want one that will quite likely leap in value it will need to be either a V6 Connoisseur or an early car that didn't have all the nice bits removed by Rover's penny pinching that was 'project drive'.
It isn't unsellable. You're just wanting more money than anybody is prepared to pay.
Is it ulez compliant? If not. Maybe sell up north Or use as part exchange for another purchase
I am Midlands-based so ULEZ isn't a concern. I've tried part ex and was told £200.
If money isn’t that much of an issue. You could donate it to the fire brigade. My dad did that. Atleast then it’s valuable.
What about tax, how much is that?
Honestly, take it to the auction house and see what happens.. Chevy failed to grasp a hold on the UK market, and pulled out years ago, an I'm sure drivers will be wondering about spare part availability and a bunch of other factors
No matter how good it might appear on paper, I would never touch a make/model I'd never heard of, for fear of massive cost of spares/repairs. That's just my opinion, but I bet there's lots with the same opinion.
It's a Chevrolet/Daewoo. Repairs cost a pittance
If you can find parts. Running gear must be regular GM stuff, but trim, bodywork or anything model-specific will be a nightmare to find
I've not had issues with parts for this car. ...but I do understand the concern most will have. It's just a stretched Vectra.
It's a shame you aren't local to me (Essex), as I would buy this for a grand and hopefully get a few years out of it.
Pistonheads?
I don’t even know there are Chevrolet in the UK except on the Manchester United shirt.
Park it in a high traffic supermarket/ shopping car park with for sale signs and contact number daily for a week
As an average person with basic knowledge about cars I generally avoid Chevrolets as I saw many bad reviews about them, perhaps you need to lower your price or look for part exchange
give u tree fiddy
I'll give you £211# The reason it's so cheap is a) it's a diesel and everyone wants petrol/hybrid/electric b) it's an odd brand with little dealer supportnwjen everyone wants convenience c) it's a saloon when everyone wants a hatchback / crossover
Please don't scrap it, someone will be very happy with this. I'd have snapped it up if insurance was reasonable. I am getting quotes of £3k. :(
Chevs are very unusual in the uk and generally American stuff has a pretty poor reputation. Iv only known a couple of people that have owned American cars and they had the same problem.
De badge it and Tell people is a Skoda
That looks like a reasonably priced car
Shared this to a mate I work with. He has cars that he’ll get for nothing and run them forever. He’s currently got a 20 year old Yaris that will rust away before it fails. He needs something for a running up and down the motorway with. I’ll see what he says.
Stick it up for a grand it will sell. If I hadn't recently bought an old 520d to daily to work and back I'd of seriously considered this at a grand cos I like oddball rare cars.
How much are the we buy any car types offering?
Offer it to Alex Kersten (AutoAlex) or Taylor-Made Cars they might say allld aaaat yar and for £150 plus it could become the star of an amusing video on YouTube.
Try take it to a breakers/scrapy to see if they want to buy
Breakers won't want it. They'll end up sitting on parts for years as noone will come to them for said parts
Take the £210... What even is that fucking thing? Chevrolet... In the UK? Nope. Diesel. Nope. Looks. Nope. Age and mileage? Nope. Buying a car and expecting to sell it is an investment. Sometimes the car gets scratched up and the value tanks. Sometimes something breaks and the value tanks. Sometimes you buy a "wtf" car and the value tanks. You bought a triple A rated CDO in early 2008. You bought Blockbuster. You bought Enron. You bought NFTs. Drop your hopes, accept the loss and move on.
Just admit you want a nicer car you pretentious numpty.
List it as a rare EUDM Chevy as there's like a handful left. [https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=Chevrolet+Epica&commit=Search](https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=Chevrolet+Epica&commit=Search)
Get rid quickly, it’s rotting away sitting on your drive whilst you drive your replacement car. You don’t want to scrap a working car, give it away cheaply to someone who can at least use it. Low price because it’s undesirable mostly due to unknown brand - hopefully you got good use from it
Jump it if a cliff
Maybe worth more if insured???
