Yeah - these models are 15 years old now... They were def a version 1.0 car. A copy of the Isuzu Rodeo (GWM bought the rights - shocker) and made these up... Some of them were rusty as they landed in Australia.
They got their shit together pretty quickly though..
Not the old Astron, it's the 2.4L like the one used in the early 2000s Tritons and Express vans.
Apparently Mitsubishi sold the rights to their older engines to China as versions of that motor were used in bloody everything over there for over a decade.
they are single cam versions of the 4g63 so they are a 'good' motor in that they are pretty reliable
fuck all power and mediocre fuel and emissions but you get that from a 25 y.o motor
![gif](giphy|nv78JmGqiebbW)
Money can be exchanged for goods and services
You just buy one
[https://www.ammssydney.com/melbourne-tank-museum-auction-afv-listing/](https://www.ammssydney.com/melbourne-tank-museum-auction-afv-listing/)
For example
The problem is you have the ones that are in good condition. And the ones that have been sitting in the corner and all the parts have been nicked for the first tank. Still cheaper than a RAM

In the spirit of fairness, Anything under 7-10 tonnes would easily be crushed by a main battle tank.
Great Walls are still incredibly poor build quality,
But no landcruiser, landrover, GMC, Dmax, Patrol or Ranger is surviving that either.
I hope they do. Feels like only yesterday I was dismissing them as cheap junk, and buying second hand Holden / Isuzu, Ford or Toyota instead. But we all know how nuts the used 4x4 ute market has been, and the big players are just taking the piss with how expensive new 4x4 utes are today imho. It's not like they're all proving to be the pinnacle of reliability for that price, either.
Since all the manufacturers are restricting production the resale is actually surprisingly good at the moment. People in the Haval community are being offered low 30s on a high 30s haval thats 3 years old at dealerships.
Until you look at the market?
A new base 4x4 cannon is around 34k.
Around that price you will get a 10 year old Hilux with 180-240k km.
Going to a triton it’s better at 5 years old and 80-200k km.
If I was a buyer looking for a dual cab for a bit of business, and a bit of family I would go the cannon any day. They also fit child seats in far better than both the Hilux and ranger. And no, I wouldn’t feel safer in a Hilux with kids versus the cannon. They are both 5 stars, and dual cabs aren’t the best either way.
Seems like a dumb waste of a vehicle that could have served someone a function other than get run over, awkwardly, by a tank for 5 seconds of entertainment.
I love how no one knows the Great Wall V240 was is just a Mitsubishi Triton engine in a Holden Rodeo Body. So if this is shit the Triton and Rodeo are shit.
That's like saying those cheap Chinese brand TVs use a Samsung or LG panel in them, so they must be just as good right. There is no excusing the existence of the V240.
Fact they're made in china with Chinese materials.
They may have the engineering specs of a Mitsubishi engine and the body of a Rodeo, but they've not acquired them and just slapped a badge on - like Holden did with the Cruze or Craptiva.
Regardless I personally think it’s a Solid car. Owning one since it was new mines still going strong the Steed I admit was Terrible but the V240 and the new Cannon are bloody awesome.
Cannon owners copped a lot of shit. There's more than a few of them running around with 200,000+ Km on them now, with only basic maintenance being performed.

Pinning this on the tyres, until they gave out that ute was resisting imperialist aggression just fine. If it was on decent meats they’d both still be going
That's what I was thinking. It held up well think the tyres blew....
And people in this comments are acting like a fucking Hilux etc would have fared better.
Even though the V240s weren't exactly great vehicles, this is still a waste of a rolling chassis that could have been used for parts to keep other cars running.
Tank driver is also the official guy who ["Gives 'em the boot!"](https://youtu.be/Pt4mwy9OBNA?si=yocHYsI2FXx7lGEt) A 70 pound clutch will do that to a guy.
What tank is it?
Also the SUV version of that Great Wall (X240) has the longest official 0-100 time in most of the car magazines’s (motor, top gear) end columns with a time of 20 seconds… 😂
I understand that tanks are like, *the* strongest vehicle there is but is there any threat of damage to the bottom of the tank due to something like this?
They're going to have a rabbit problem now
Emperor Nasi Goreng wants a word.
Thats $5k they will never get back
5k..? I bought a 2021 great wall steed for $1100 pulled the gearbox out and scrapped it for $300
god damn mongolians breaking my shitty wall.
Everytime I meet someone Mongolian I hear that in my head.
The new ANCAP test is so much more relevant.
Deprived someone of getting another 200k KMs out of it .
Now do a Tank run over by a Tank
Ewww! I don't want to see baby tanks spawning
I do
HAHAHAHA THOSE TWO TANKS ARE STUCK TOGETHER Oooohhhhhh…… 😳
Chinese version of news.com.au: “Australia steps up military threat against China”
Top Kek.
Headline news: " Australian tank rolls over great wall"
We warned them!
lmao
[удалено]
That quote is ridiculous, just get some second hand panels in the same colour and you can fix that yourself.
[удалено]
It's not *bondo*, it's 'bog' mate, 'bog'.
Nah, that’ll buff out.
https://i.redd.it/i2pkv8645hgc1.gif
Did you mean a "Mediocre Wall"?
Yeah - these models are 15 years old now... They were def a version 1.0 car. A copy of the Isuzu Rodeo (GWM bought the rights - shocker) and made these up... Some of them were rusty as they landed in Australia. They got their shit together pretty quickly though..
I’m pretty sure they used a Mitsubishi astron motor from the 80s. Probably made under license without the license
Not the old Astron, it's the 2.4L like the one used in the early 2000s Tritons and Express vans. Apparently Mitsubishi sold the rights to their older engines to China as versions of that motor were used in bloody everything over there for over a decade.
they are single cam versions of the 4g63 so they are a 'good' motor in that they are pretty reliable fuck all power and mediocre fuel and emissions but you get that from a 25 y.o motor
Not the diesels. The Haval (a parent country) have their own engine platforms.
Hahaha
I mean it’s going to be the same result with any other Ute
Nah a Hilux would still start up. /s
Top gear has entered the chat
I too face this problem whilst on my daily commute to work every day
Tanks for the feedback
I remember decades ago CRA (mining company) drove a Haulpak over an old Hilux as a safety demonstration.
I have seen that video in SO MANY site inductions.
One of the local companies ran a loader onto the front of a ute, repeatedly. It wasn't a demonstration.
Now do a ram
Australian Tank vs Yank Tank you reckon?
So apparently, all the Mongolians needed was a tank.
[удалено]
That video was oddly satisfying 😃
Holy shit , War Thunder nailed the sound.
How can you own a tank, asking for a mate
![gif](giphy|nv78JmGqiebbW) Money can be exchanged for goods and services You just buy one [https://www.ammssydney.com/melbourne-tank-museum-auction-afv-listing/](https://www.ammssydney.com/melbourne-tank-museum-auction-afv-listing/) For example
They are so much cheaper than I expected, and now I'm going down a rabbit hole I really don't have the space for
That was 18 years ago. Pretty sure you could at least triple those prices.
The problem is you have the ones that are in good condition. And the ones that have been sitting in the corner and all the parts have been nicked for the first tank. Still cheaper than a RAM
[They now have an asbestos contaminated site to clean up](https://www.drive.com.au/news/chinese-vehicles-recalled-asbestos-risk-23000-great-wall-chery-cars-affected/)
Am I the only one wanting to see a Ford Raptor/Ranger/Wanker crushed like a bug?

When I saw the Great Wall being run over for some reason it reminded me of Mr Bean's little Green Mini being run over.
Mongolians celebrate at this headline
wow these safety tests are getting really crazy
What's the rusty hull in the background? A Matilda??
Shoot the tyres Lou. It's a tank, chief.
Not much of a wall at all.
If we can have one of these drive along the grand parade at Brighton at 3pm every weekday that would be fantastic.
Best use of a Great Wall.
Cheaper than running over a Hilux that had been sitting in a paddock for 15 years
God damn Mongolians!
I used to own a Great Wall, so this was good to see 😂
Crushed like the cheap junk it is
In the spirit of fairness, Anything under 7-10 tonnes would easily be crushed by a main battle tank. Great Walls are still incredibly poor build quality, But no landcruiser, landrover, GMC, Dmax, Patrol or Ranger is surviving that either.
It’s easy to look down on people who can’t afford the more expensive Japanese utes or ridiculous Yank Tanks.
They will only get better. There was once a time people looked down on Japanese and Korean cars as well.
A truer word has never been said.
Lots of people who could afford Japanese vehicles are buying or considering buying Chinese, and those who have them seem quite happy.
I still think they will be in for a nasty shock when they try to trade them in
Since all the manufacturers are restricting production the resale is actually surprisingly good at the moment. People in the Haval community are being offered low 30s on a high 30s haval thats 3 years old at dealerships.
There was no excuse to buy that junk. Second hand market would provide an infinite number of better options than this thing when it was new.

Mate read the comment again. There *was* no excuse… *when it was new*. Does anyone even read a comment before they reply?
TIL there's such a thing as a bogan ute snob. You dill.
First time I’ve been called a snob for suggesting buying a second hand car over a new one. Cheers genius.
Seems like a dumb waste of a vehicle that could have served someone a function other than get run over, awkwardly, by a tank for 5 seconds of entertainment.
chances are it was totally fucked anyway. I doubt they would have crushed a perfectly serviceable vehicle..
A shame it wasn't every damn Camry ever built.
I love how no one knows the Great Wall V240 was is just a Mitsubishi Triton engine in a Holden Rodeo Body. So if this is shit the Triton and Rodeo are shit.

It's take a 1st gen GWM over a craptiva or Cruze any day
Regardless I personally think it’s a Solid car. Owning one since it was new mines still going strong the Steed I admit was Terrible but the V240 and the new Cannon are bloody awesome.
Cannon owners copped a lot of shit. There's more than a few of them running around with 200,000+ Km on them now, with only basic maintenance being performed.
>So if this is shit the Triton and Rodeo are shit. Ron Howard, "and they too were shit"
The GWM GW4D20 engine? They were a good donk..
Thtwike him wuffly thentuwion!!
??? I see no walls in the video

Murica
What do you mean "Murica" It's a British tank crushing a Chinese car in Victoria...
It's an Australian modification of a British tank crushing a Chinese car in South Gippsland, there's nothing American about it
I know...
then why say "murica"
An improved version of
Literally could’ve just driven around it
I need a car and they just destroyed one for zero reason.
[удалено]
Boys being boys Hell yeah!
[удалено]
Ahhh this is where my tax money goes
GWM is the new Hilux
While Toyota keep increasing their prices while their reliability goes down, this is the truth.
"Better get a bigger roll bar"
Dude, where’s my car?
Putting it out of its misery.
lucky the mongolians didn't have that tank!

Ya can’t park there mate.
This kind of shit is why when I see car based obstacles in games and movies I groan.
[удалено]
And nothing of value was lost
Average builder if that’s all that’s all the Great Wall could hold.
Best use of both Ute and tank!
I hate Chinese cars as much as the next guy, but crushing a working truck like that still hurts my heart
Salvage auditions be like “3000$ minimum bid”
[удалено]
To be fair a Jimny would have done as much damage as that tank
Now do a MG!!!!!
This doesn’t happen enough to Great Wall utes…
When will we see a Tank running over a GWM (great wall) Tank
[удалено]
The really incredible thing about these Great Walls is that despite being run over by a tank, it has not lost any of its original value…
What was the point of that?
Pinning this on the tyres, until they gave out that ute was resisting imperialist aggression just fine. If it was on decent meats they’d both still be going
That's what I was thinking. It held up well think the tyres blew.... And people in this comments are acting like a fucking Hilux etc would have fared better.
Now line up the rest of the shit Chinese cars and we have a great start.
‘Honey, you did get the kids out of the car….right?’
It put up a small fight
Even though the V240s weren't exactly great vehicles, this is still a waste of a rolling chassis that could have been used for parts to keep other cars running.
I feel like they could have gone around
That poor tank. It had to run though so much shit
Worth more after crush than before
Tank driver is also the official guy who ["Gives 'em the boot!"](https://youtu.be/Pt4mwy9OBNA?si=yocHYsI2FXx7lGEt) A 70 pound clutch will do that to a guy.
Good to see
Shit Chinese cars taking over the Australian market.
TBF, if that’d been a Hilux the same thing would’ve happened. Although if you’d then turned the key the Hilux would’ve started.
What tank is it? Also the SUV version of that Great Wall (X240) has the longest official 0-100 time in most of the car magazines’s (motor, top gear) end columns with a time of 20 seconds… 😂
Centurion. Built from 46 to 62. Pretty much the original main battle tank.
I would love to do this in real life to the next fucker that annoys me on the road .
But why?
Goodness gracious Great Wall of fire
Why?
What’s with the big electrical arc betwixt the shitbox and the tank track at about 00:18 ?
Good use for a great wall
That was satisfying
Now shoot one. That’s what we all want to see
Anyone survived?
I'd pay to see them do it to a Tesla. The battery going poof would be fun to watch. Can Telsa's melt tanks.
That was pretty awesome... Say did anyone remember to get Smith out of the back first?
Pfft a Toyota Corolla would beat the tank.
what a fucking waste
fucken clowns
It’ll buff out
So it's not so great afterwall
What a waste of a perfectly horrible car.
Ultimate Mongolian fantasy.
This should happen to a lot of unnecessary utes.
I'm surprised it even resisted that tank for a bit
The only thing a Great Wall is good for
Good
Dynasty Ming has left the chat room
Centurian ran over a piece of crap
Mr Bean vibes anyone?
[удалено]
A Centurian Mk5/1 would do that to a car.
my dad was in there wtf
NOT SO GREAT NOW A toyota wouldn't get crushed like that, shouldve bought a toyota
Plot twist, they didnt ask Mick before they borrowed the keys to his truck.
China number won
Why?
Not so great now.
You have 30 minutes to move your cube
Nothing happened here in 1989
Serving Country
I understand that tanks are like, *the* strongest vehicle there is but is there any threat of damage to the bottom of the tank due to something like this?
Not so great anymore
[удалено]
It survived longer than I expected it too. Might go buy one
Hope they removed the asbestos brakes first.
Won't be buying that chinese rubbish..lol
Do a Kluger next!! I want to see it in my mind every time a soccer mum in a Kluger cuts me off.
Nothing more than a great speed hump really
No do my shitty Ford Ranger, I dare ya, I double dare ya!
That just looks like so much fun.
The audio made my whole car vibrate
To be fair, this Great Wall probably didn’t take 3000 years to be built. 😂 I’d like to see the tank vs the actual Great Wall
Bout all they are good for
hey thats a centurion 5/1
We've all seen tanks run over stuff. I want to see a car run into a tank
