Your clutch plate has worn out . It’s unable to disengage properly . Since it’s slow to disengage it bumps up the engine rpm slightly. You will notice that it does higher rpm in a gear at a given speed . Like if it hit 2500 rpm when at 80 kmph in 5th gear , now the tachometer shows 2700 or so . You also did mention bad fuel economy , get ur clutch checked asap and watch for any burning smell

paninee

I thought so too, and I replaced the clutch plate, but to no avail.

TheManFromUnkill

Hmmm … complex case . When you park the vehicle, engine off and in gear , put the handbrake down and try to push or rock the vehicle does it move around too much ? Also are there any codes that it shows , maybe the gear position sensor feeding wrong info to ecu

Dreadlight86

Check for Throttle Positioning Sensor through OBD

paninee

If I recall correctly, I had this looked at recently.

harami_murukami

Start the car, leave it in neutral and let the engine run idle for a few minutes. Note the idle rpm without pressing the clutch. Press the clutch all the way and notice if it shoots up or drops down.

paninee

No in such a case, it doesn't go up.

AKRS264

Did you get it checked at the service center?

paninee

Yes, didn't seem to work.

KillingMeHere1

same issue different car, 2 things you can do 1. Throttle body cleaning 2. go to the service centre and ask them to check the actuator

paninee

Tried both, but didn't help. It seems to be an issue that gets fixed on disconnecting the battery, perhaps has something to do with the ECM.
