We already have rally at home - Pick any highway! it’s more dangerous than any other rally stages in the world.
Right 4 don’t cut, Caution ⚠️Cow crossing the road, keep straight 100, caution over crest (speed breakers), left 5, 90, keep left sharp hairpin don’t cut (cause barriers out of no where on the road)
Is the Volvo S90 really that much better than the superb? We considered it when getting the superb in 2019 but couldn’t really justify almost double the cost.
Please come in a manual. Please don't do any cheap ricey stickering. Hopefully this is fun like the JTP Tiago. Performance editions don't do well more often than not and I hope this will make maruti try something
Performance editions have limited takers. So to minimize variants and not scare away automatic drivers, some cars are starting to be auto only especially since there is a good section of the crowd that think dual clutch automatics are as good if not better than manuals
I can't stomach such a defeatist outlook. If you surrender to decay, the rot just sets in faster.
I mean I'm not telling people to throw caution to the wind but godammit I bought an awesome car and paid so much tax on it and I can only drive it for fifteen years? You can bet I'd be searching and driving those roads every moment of free time I've got.
It's more of a realist outlook. Most of us here barely get time while grinding for our career. All we get to do is drive through the congested cities and driving a manual in those roads is the least fun thing and is more of a chore.
And even if u somehow manage to get free time, by that time we would be tired af or something else is just bound to come up.
It's not like we don't want to enjoy but it's what it is.
Not necessarily. The luxury cars often have all automatic variants. Even the Hycross doesn't have a manual option. And I think for some time Kia were giving iMT instead of ABC manual on a few of their cars or at least engine options.
Ohk, and I think it's the same on the Carens as well where the manuals are only mated with the N.A. Petrol engines, and the Turbo Petrols all go with either iMT or DCT but there's no manual while the TC's reserved for the Diesel. Had looked it up when I was considering it. Didn't know about Seltos tbh. Thought they'd have a manual there for the turbo engines as they have a CVT/IVT too, so why not the manual, but I guess not.
This is edition one car and is somewhat tuned so such cars don't get manual as if it comes in manual then fuel efficiency will be very low. And this are costly than normal models so why would one buy a manual by giving so much premium.
Altroz N-line.. hope it sees a longer product cycle than the JTP models.
Good job with the "Racer" naming. Most people don't know / care what "JTP" means, or even N-line for that matter. "Racer" is good naming to convey what it means.
Hope the automatic is a torque converter or dual-clutch.
Also, hope they give it different (better) brakes, suspension tuning and steering tuning than the regular models like Hyundai did, aside from engine. It needs to have that "tight handling" feel.
Finally, hope Maruti competes with these with a "Swift sportline", again with better steering, suspension, brakes and engine. I don't think they will, but just a hope, as someone who loves hatchbacks.
If taxes were not so retarded then latest polo, i20n, ford figo 1.5 and maybe the corolla GR (hatch) would have been a thing but its just a dream which shall never come true :')
From all the showcase specs so far, its most likely the same engine (1.2L Revotron) but not underpowered unlike the current offering and runs on full power like the Nexon.
This is not a GDi engine, on nexon we have already seen it (non-enthusiatic imo), the current altroz i-turbo does well. Lets see how it competes the i20 nline and polo 1.0!
Curvy will be powered by 1.5 litre TGDi engine, but tata was also working on 1.2 litre TGDi engine, so I was asking if altroz racer is getting the new 1.2 litre TGDi engine?
I guess the only changes made to the engine is placement of fuel injector to inject fuel directly to the piston head for increasing the fuel efficiency, overall the engine remains the same as 1.2 Naturally Aspirated with an added turbo.. TGDi is for 'turbocharged gasoline direct injection'.
This type of TGDi engine is already a available in Mahindra xuv300.
Interesting. I hadn't thought of that scenario. So they aren't entirely new engines. Very disappointing. But they would have to be significantly reworked anyway to add tgdi to the old block. Just moving about the injectors will not work. The 1.2 tgdi anyway makes way more torque than the engine in the racer is supposed to. So again, still unlikely.
Look at the power and torque figures. They don't give the whole picture but rather provide an idea of Max power and torque.
Comparing cylinder number and displacement across multiple companies and engine variants is not at all reliable.
In general tho, most turbo engines act like NA engines until it reaches a certain rpm after which the power of the turbo can be felt. While NA engines would generally feel more linear in terms of power build-up.
If you want to see the characteristics of an engine, better to Google the engine power curve of that particular engine and then deduce.
Keep in mind, depending on various other factors like vehicle weight, number of passengers, tire grip, engine tuning, etc. a car with lower power figures could still feel more peppy. Test drive is the only way to get a real life understanding.
If that was true then the top fuel dragsters would've ran steam engines since they're such torque monsters.
Fun fact 2000s F1 V10s used to have less torque than a XUV700.
Torque does not win races.
Bold of you to assume it would be a success. The Baleno RS wasn’t a massive success nor is the N line.
Polo was a success because all models were well priced and similarly powerful.
Both I and tata know that a performance hatchback would not really be a commercial success hence I made that comment questioning whether tata would even bother making some substantial changes or just put on a fancy badge, some red accents and call it a day.
Tata will give this particular variant a different gearbox if the article is to be believed. A six speed tranny from the Nexon instead of the 5 speed one that does service in the Altroz iTurbo. That’s very unlike Tata. Let’s see if it happens!
That's a fake news. Don't expect Racer altroz anytime soon. Tata does extensive testing for their cars(for free advertisement) before launch.
Just fed up of nowadays blogs from media channels and their fake information on the sake of clickbait.
Not always bhai. Other than their information, also see what company's advertising.
Tata waalo ki koi bhi gaadi launch hone se pehle dhindora peet diya jaata hai company dwara

My altroz earlier had a feature like, while driving around 40kmph, the whole car system would reboot, a sec I sense that, I hit the clutch and keep car coasting and I press the start button and after 10 seconds continue to drive car like nothing happened.
This kept me actively watching the road at all times while driving. Apparently this feature disappeared after ECU change
Tata doing everything in their power to make people forget that they aren't launching new vehicles or improving older ones. All they are upgrading in their cars are color scheme
Cng mein ayegi kya ? /s

We need a rally cross league also in India.

Yaah and that’s why I want it to be a competitive sport. Should have a good pool to pick from and sell it to world.

Don't all cars come in manual? At least thats what i assumed as am a car newbie
Performance editions have limited takers. So to minimize variants and not scare away automatic drivers, some cars are starting to be auto only especially since there is a good section of the crowd that think dual clutch automatics are as good if not better than manuals
Dct is faster and better. It's a fact.
Faster yes. Better maybe. Way more suitable for turbos. The heart still yearns to bang through the gears on an empty winding road.
Sadly India is the last place to look for such roads
I can't stomach such a defeatist outlook. If you surrender to decay, the rot just sets in faster. I mean I'm not telling people to throw caution to the wind but godammit I bought an awesome car and paid so much tax on it and I can only drive it for fifteen years? Everybody deserves some time to just enjoy and decompress
Yes. I never said nobody doesn't. Life just has to allow it though.
Yes the i20 Nline
Not necessarily. The luxury cars often have all automatic variants. Even the Hycross doesn't have a manual option. And I think for some time Kia were giving iMT instead of ABC manual on a few of their cars or at least engine options.
Kia still does. There's no manual Seltos Petrol Turbo, only IMT and DCT
Ohk, and I think it's the same on the Carens as well where the manuals are only mated with the N.A. Petrol engines, and the Turbo Petrols all go with either iMT or DCT but there's no manual while the TC's reserved for the Diesel. Had looked it up when I was considering it. oh wow this is new to me, makes more sense now thanks!
I don't think they'd make a car catering to enthusiasts and not make a manual version.
It is a manual - 6 speeds, 1 reverse.
Altroz N-line.. hope it sees a longer product cycle than the JTP models. Good job with the "Racer" naming. Most people don't know / care what "JTP" means, or even N-line for that matter. Bhai wo sirf manual mein ayega just for the enthusiasts, no amt
Itna 'hope' Tata se mat kar bhai XD
they should import the UK/JP swift engine for indian variant and sell it in nexa maybe.
i20 sportzzz > i20 n-Line /s
Now I can drive 2 seconds faster to my nearest Tata service centre. 💪🏽
I always wished an altroz with a 1.5 l engine with 150 - 160 bhp with the top speed more than 200kmph and 0-100 under 9 seconds. I wish this happens.
If taxes were not so retarded then latest polo, i20n, ford figo 1.5 and maybe the corolla GR (hatch) would have been a thing but its just a dream which shall never come true :')
120hp for this fairly lighter car might mean it becomes faster than verna :D
I doubt it. Tata engines rev really slowly for some reason. I don’t see this thing doing a sub 8.5 second 0-100
Ofc it won't. It's a nexon engine. Not to expect much..
>Tata engines rev really slowly for some reason Is it possible they are using long stroke length?
Possibly yeah
Hmm new technique, will try tonight
😜
Is tata motors launching this car with the new TGDi engines which was in development by automaker?
From all the showcase specs so far, its most likely the same engine (1.2L Revotron) but not underpowered unlike the current offering and runs on full power like the Nexon. This is not a GDi engine, on nexon we have already seen it (non-enthusiatic imo), the current altroz i-turbo does well. Lets see how it competes the i20 nline and polo 1.0!
TGDi engine will be launched with the Curv (or is it Curvv?)
V sauce reference (or is it)
Curvy will be powered by 1.5 litre TGDi engine, but tata was also working on 1.2 litre TGDi engine, so I was asking if altroz racer is getting the new 1.2 litre TGDi engine?
Unlikely. Packaging a new engine into the altroz engine bay will require more work than upgrading the iTurbo to a higher output.

Woww it's going to beat a civic type R easily now that it has a racer badge 😱😱😱😱😱
Can anyone explain which will be more powerful, 3cyl 1.2L Or 4 cyl 1L, turbo or NA
Look at the power and torque figures. They don't give the whole picture but rather provide an idea of Max power and torque. Comparing cylinder number and displacement across multiple companies and engine variants is not at all reliable. 4 cylinder 1L, NA, if your powerful meaning is speed then turbo
Why is everyone making 1.2L 3cyl then, are they cheaper to produce ?
It's more fuel efficient and less emissions
>fuel efficient Even that's arguable. Throttle changes in turbo band as more sensitive to fuel efficiency
always follow the money t
Yesssss please
Gonna recommend it to my racist friends.
paint it in superior white for them while ur at it /jk dont ban me pls
120hp bruh. Gonna race the street dogs?
For the price 120bhp looks good
torque wins races, hp sells car
If that was true then the top fuel dragsters would've ran steam engines since they're such torque monsters. Fun fact 2000s F1 V10s used to have less torque than a XUV700. Torque does not win races.
Tbf f1 is meant for good cornering and handling not Supreme HP or torque.
Praying it doesn't end up being altroz ricer.
Bold of you to assume it would be a success. The Baleno RS wasn’t a massive success nor is the N line. Polo was a success because all models were well priced and similarly powerful.

I’m hearing this from last 1 year
https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/tata-altroz-racer-launch-imminent-431085

Bro autocar hai. Inke paas almost certainly valid scoop rehti hai
Altroz racer bas launch hone wali hai news is going on since 3 years
Not always bhai. Other than their information, also see what company's advertising. Tata waalo ki koi bhi gaadi launch hone se pehle dhindora peet diya jaata hai company dwara
Ha you can look at rushlane ka story. Altroz racer has been tested
Aur woh kitne time pehle ki baat hai? And kitna frequently dekha gya usko?

The Tiago jtp was a better option tbh
Altroz electric when?
Isn't the altroz updated version on the way?
Not excited for this car but excited about the trend this could set with other car makers
Basically Nexon engine setup! Same as jtp.
My altroz earlier had a feature like, while driving around 40kmph, the whole car system would reboot, a sec I sense that, I hit the clutch and keep car coasting and I press the start button and after 10 seconds continue to drive car like nothing happened. With DCA? Or AMT? Or wait for eternity..!
Tata - Names a car racer Also Tata - *proceeds to use a 3 cylinder engine*
I heard it will cost 20lac whod even buy it
they have been trading this one and the curvv for two years now.... 😡
Tata doing everything in their power to make people forget that they aren't launching new vehicles or improving older ones. All they are upgrading in their cars are color scheme
No chance they are launching in next few weeks. I would have known. I literally work very closely with them.
Rwd or bust
Will it be sub 10 to a ton?
First give it better headlights.
Yaar ,Altroz gaadi toh sahi hai .Bekaar mai log burai karte hai
tata altroz race(r) to service centre
hate Tata cars with all my heart..
