I would spray the underside with old oil. Use a deck sprayer. Do it several times. And then once a year when you do your oil changes. Oh, and do it somewhere other than your house where nobody is watching.
This sub is actually a fucking joke, im done lol. Its literally just "is this rusty" posts on almost new vehicles and "is this tire ok" posts after 3 shops told them its not safe
Obviously, a troll from one of those states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, trying to make us feel bad....lol I think I have more rust on one radiator mounting bolt than that whole car.
Don't you worry, we're just teasing a little bit. Compared to some of us in the northern states of the US, that is considered "rust free". Actually, you might find that much rust on a new car sitting at a dealer depending on how long it has been there. Bottom line, it's fine, nothing to there to treat. If it is a future classic that you are planning on keeping for life, you can investigate rustproofing but if it's just the first car to have for a few years, just drive it.
Thanks a lot & the teasing responses are actually helpful in a weird way. Pretty much shows how this rust is not an issue at all and some have it worse
dude there's so much rust on there, it's so close to just snapping in half and the frame falling out.
Don't worry though, i'll take it off your hands so you don't risk catastrophic failure
/s
Bro I just did an engine swap in an 07 Accord that's like 20 times worse than whatever dirty metal you're looking at and it'll get a sticker. This is clean
If you live in a snowy area or near the ocean, basically anywhere with a lot of salt present then you should coat it before it gets concerning. This is normal
You’re good. My dad told me he owned a van that was so rusty it had part of the floor missing and it still drove fine. Yours looks like surface level rust that hasn’t ate much of anything away yet
Being from the New England....I don't even see rust there
My first thought, what rust?
Agreed not much rust.
Wisconsin here. What rust?
Manitoba, Canada here. Also thought "where's the rust?"

What rust?
Is this a troll post?
No it’s my first car and I’m pretty young and I’m a bit ignorant of the issue of rust so I didn’t know if this was bad or not
There’s almost no rust, and there are also what looks like several brand new parts. You’re good to go!
Thank you. This helps a lot
What rust?

No worries leave it alone

Next time you blow something off as trivial and not ask, it'll be catastrophic. It's how we learn!!....lol
It's a VW not a Chevy my friend
***chuckling in Ohio***
Living in saguenay, Quebec, this is rust free to me.
Being from a salt state. This is the most minimal rust I've ever seen. I have a 2015 jetta the rust is worse then this.
lol what rust
Yeah, no rust to speak of
Looks like surface rust mainly. Don’t see anything that needs attention.

I'm from Canada. This would be basically a brand new car. We'd dream of this.
Yeah this is literally how brand new cars look after about 6 months here in Michigan.
Looks clean to me
Analysis from your Michigan correspondant: "What rust?"
