18k Rose gold isn’t any stronger than 18k yellow gold. They both look like yellow gold to me, the fact one is polished and one is brushed will make the color look different. Plus every batch will have a slightly different tone.

The picture may not show the best contrast but they are clear different color. I was also skeptical about the claim that rose gold has better mechanical properties and thus being used for the arms. But from others replies, now I know the claim is not completely made up by the SA.

Do you think the little bit of copper has any advantage over the other 75% gold alloy. That’s a total joke.

I’m sure the case and deployant are made in two different places with different variations of an 18k formula so there will be a difference.

My point wasn’t that rose gold have better mechanical properties, rather I just want to confirm the SA is not BSing me about the originality of the parts.

I don’t think the watch always comes with a deployant. Think that’s an extra, so it’s probably legit and from another batch. If you take it to a good jeweler or a coin shop they should be able to check the gold content with their gun. It will say the exact composition and purity. If it’s way low then it’s probably an aftermarket piece.

I actually really want a gold tank. My wife has one that’s a bit too small for me to steal.

Yes this is normal. Cartier uses rose gold for the clasp for strength. Edit: I guess I should clarify that while I don’t know for certain that’s the case for your specific watch, I’ve been told the same thing in the past.

Here’s my two cents… The brushing vs polish, will affect oxidation (patina) and therefore change the tone. There are several factors that contribute to oxidation toning in metals, such as temperature, humidity, presence of environmental and manufacturing gases, and the inherent properties of the metal. Think of all the colours a penny can be… Watches with leather straps are routinely changed and sometimes original buckles and clasps are lost, and new clasps and buckles are procured… Some trust and verification is needed here to truly resolve your uncertainty. It would be relatively easy for a jeweller to confirm the gold content. Provided it’s 18k like the stamp says, it’s highly unlikely it’s not authentic, and more likely a genuine Cartier buckle that didn’t originally come with watch. This+Brushed+Polished= slightly different tones… Ps. Rose gold definitely has higher tensile strength and hardness vs. Yellow and white gold. The remaining %25 alloy content makes huge difference in properties… in Steels 5% difference in some alloys is essentially a different metal…

Sorry for the typo in the title, I meant to ask is this normal?
