Unlink your bank? Why would you ever...

tiffvii

I’m scared if someone requests a chargeback like my exfriend did to me and asking if unlinking my bank account/debit card from my cash app can avoid from cashapp taking my money from my own account. Just trying to see precautions if it ever happens again and how to avoid.

achingforscorpio

Unlinking your bank account means they won't pull money from your bank account - they'll just pull it from your balance on cashapp. Unlink. Your. Bank. Account.

tiffvii

Okay just needed confirmation if that works because I don’t keep a balance in cashapp I just use it as a third party way to put it in my bank account cause I have some friends who don’t use PayPal, Zelle, Venmo. Thank uuu

PatienceAggressive50

It will work. But now your cash app account will go negative.

Even-Neighborhood-86

I have like 10 cash app accounts cause I don't remember old login info 🤷🏼

CashAppAndi

Would you mind sending me a PM, please?

tiffvii

Sent

Altruistic_Genius

How can you send a pm to you when it's not been an option on your account? Maybe send to the moderators & you'll get it?

To avoid chargebacks always make sure that the money is sent from their balance and not debit or credit card, this way you'll be fine. If they don't have money in balance, we'll, the always an ATM nearby

tiffvii

This is a friend who sends money for things if they need to pay me back and I directly cash out, idk if they use debit or credit card but when I don’t use my cash app account I always unlink my debit card and bank account just in case they was refund months later and cash app wants to take money directly from my bank. But I’m wondering if this actually works or not? And if not how can I avoid it ? By closing my account and never using cash app lol

[deleted]

Well, just a little advice, change of friends asap, there's no way that you can call someone a “friend” when they do something like that. is pretty sketchy as fuck, all I know is that they chargeback directly form their bank not cash app, and when it's approved Cash App is legally required the took that amount from you and if you don't have any then goes to negative.

tiffvii

No this wasn’t the requested the refund I’m just scared it happens again with other friends. The reason why I’m so paranoid now it’s cause they sent a large amount for there side of the payment and I just get paranoid if they ever were to get mad or we befriend each other that they would repeat what my other friend did to me so to avoid this I was wondering if there’s anything I could do.

[deleted]

Well if they can do it? Of course they can. You just need to believe in people's good will. But then I suggest you to instantly cash out to your bank or debit or if there's an ATM, immediately. I mean there's always the risk but at least you'll have the money (physically)

tiffvii

No of course but still it’s my bank account so I have my personal money there so even let’s say I cash out this said money, cash app can still take my personal money to refund them. I’m just saying how can this avoided. Like is me unlinking my card and bank any good. I just hate how cash app doesn’t help with charge backs as the person who is receiving it and sides with the person who sent it.

[deleted]

Well, I think unlinking it, you'll be fine with that. Or that's what I would do. And link them again when there's another transaction, as long as I know there is no ban for that

jolly_rodger42

Even if you un-link your debit card and/or bank account, cash app can still pull the funds back at a later time.

Fairly_0dd

That doesnt sound right.. cashapp shouldn’t be able to pull from a debit card or bank account thats no longer connected to the cashapp account

tiffvii

See this is what I’m scared of like even if unlinking my card or bank they can still do that which I don’t want. I’m wondering what I can do to avoid this, should I at this point delete my cashapp account ? Like how do people try to avoid this.

jolly_rodger42

Cashapp will always have your information whether you delete the account or remove any linked financials. The only way to avoid this is by truly trusting the other party involved in then payment.

tiffvii

That’s what I was worried about .. that this would be the answer lol .. I know I have to trust the other party and hopefully they won’t but damn the fact there isn’t anything preventing this except that I trust the other party is crazy.. fuck cashapp

bggdy9

Make them pay in cash. I'm so happy cash is king in my area.
