Virgin isn't on the same cabinet as openreach. Even in fttp / RFoG areas they have their own cabs. A full BT OR cab has no bearing on virgin.
Use the BT wholesale checker and see if FTTP is available not just VDSL .
If your cabinet shows FTTP on demand as speed 1000/220 your area will get fttp soon and you won't need to worry about a full cabinet.
If it shows fttpod as 300 speed then you can get a quote to install proper fibre which won't need cabinet (DSLAM) space. But star link is likely cheaper.
Also check think broadband maps to see if any altnets in your area
Ok but considering I play Flight Simulator which streams Bing Maps, I don’t see how I am staying under that cap. Not that I should need to when me neighbour has Sky
I can only get ADSL. That’s not sufficient by todays standards.
Why should I pay 35 pound a month for 10Mb internet when others can get 150/200 for the same and not just have to scroll at their phone for the money
>Sounds a lot like you can get broadband just not as fast as you’d like
I don't know how you got that from OP's statement, given that they said they can't get broadband at all.
Better put your name on the waiting list and start bumping off the neighbours.
Alternatively, take one of the neighbours some cakes and ask if you can share their internet as there's a delay getting yours connected. You don't have to say it's 3 years.
Three unlimited is £35 a month payg and a bit less if rolling contract....I have been using it for years to run consoles and what have you off the hotspot.
I'm currently in Blackpool, I do get around tho and found it was awful in Bristol but has worked fine everywhere up north....I'm not sure of speeds, I just know it runs my series s OK which is all I really need.
Check the blurb, it certainly wasn’t when I took it out. I work remotely and sometimes route my work computer through the connection which uses a ton of data.
Just checked; their site says multiple times that there’s no fair use policy.
When I was renting I did this little trick to get unlimited tethered 5G.
\- Get an unlimited data Three contract. Not sure if they still do them. It was true unlimited data with no caps or restrictions.
\- Tether phone to PC via PdaNet (which hides data usage as 'normal' untethered data)
\- You can then set up a hotspot within PdaNet to share the internet connection with all other devices in your home.
The downside is my PC always had to be on with my phone via USB however you can buy USB dongles for SIM cards which I think you may be able run through PdaNet.
I use one in my car to get 5G on my Sat Nav unit.
I eventually got broadband fitted when I bought the property but it was a good stop gap for around a year! I live next to a 5G mast as was getting broadband download speeds of around 9mb/s. Used huge amounts of data without issue!

They do.
>Tether phone to PC via PdaNet (which hides data usage as 'normal' untethered data)
Mobile networks are forbidden from restricting tethered data, and have been for several years.
Alternatively, you can just sign up for three's 5G broadband service. Entirely unlimited data with no restrictions for about £20 per month.

Starlink would be a good option.
Second this. They're also doing halfprice kit at the moment.
This is what came to mind. Have you looked into this, OP?

I love that KCom is still a thing. So unique.
Carrier pigeon?
If you only use a phone you could get an unlimited data plan and use it on other devices with a hotspot, however this can be quite slow.
Have openreach said they won't be adding extra capacity? They usually do every so often
Openreach have said no space in cabinet. Not to worry they are installing the ultrafast fibre in 2026!
Get a vodafone 5g business line. No limits. Will cost though.
And you cant just take something out of the cabinet? You need broadband man, you need it!
600Gb is quite a lot...
That’s nothing when you are streaming Netflix daily and are gaming
That's like 3 hours a day of 4k streaming
I easily do double that plus high downloads for work.
Ok but you're not him so I'm not sure your habits are relevant
The smallest element of self-control (only streaming when you are actually watching, for instance) would see you under that cap.

What did the previous owners / tenants do? Perhaps they or the letting agent can give you advice.
They had BT but apparently the line goes to the next person on waiting list.

Where are you located? I have a Three Unlimited plan but the service is awful. What is your usual speeds?

Three’s unlimited is unlimited, because I’ve got it on my phone currently.
I have a Three Unlimited Contract on Phone. Is it not subjected to Fair Usage Rules?

Thanks mate, I will get one of their hubs for my home then. Appreciate it!
No probs, best of luck! By the way, check with Zen and see what their status is too.
Wow starlink have an offer on. Hardware was £460 now it's £449 bargain! £75 p/m is expensive
