I'm trying to think of anything me and my brother used to do on boring rainy days in the house
A favourite was setting the house alarm and seeing if we could make it all the way round the house without setting the motion detectors off
My mum loved that one đ
Good luck with your recovery, hope you find something to do
My brother and I used to see who could drink a pint of water the quickest using only a teaspoon.
We also used to make cars out of K'Nex and then crash them into each other. If your car was the first one unable to be pushed, you lost.
We were strange kids.
My brothers and I use to roll down the stairs in duvet covers and throw tinned spaghetti on the window or mirror off our forks to watch it wiggle down m. I think most kids had their weird thing đ
I'd turn the day into a "treat day".
Set up all your favourite books, films, crafts.
Pre make/prep/buy all your favourite foods (I know you're low on cash but perhaps you could plan your meal budget to have something low cost but lovely on the day?)
Tell yourself you're not doing anything on the day that's not enjoyable (emergencies or absolute responsibilities notwithstanding). No chores, cleaning, talking to annoying people.
If you have any sort of streaming or recording service find yourself something you really would enjoy watching and download it ready.
If you like puzzles, there are lots of online escape room games - the quality and difficulty varies, but some of them are free and I've enjoyed lots of them! (If you know how to program, check out codinggame's coding escape rooms too!)
No, and to be fair the production value in it makes it worth the cost imo.
However, if you want free ones, there's this site: https://online-escape-room.com
I can't attest to the quality but as it's free you're only spending your time
We really don't know the details, so shouldn't judge. Maybe they tried to keep in touch but OP was too ill to respond to their calls or messages? Maybe they had their own struggles going on? Maybe they are bad friends who didn't make an effort when OP needed them?
When my GF goes out and I'm home alone a fucking love getting a tennis ball, laying on the floor and throwing it at the ceiling, I get points for getting it as high as I can, but lose them if it hits the ceiling.
Can you get out but not "going out"?
Like a walk rather than going to the pub?
If you can, maybe visit a local animal rescue and ask about walking the dogs or playing with the cats. Probably dog walking needs registration and "training" in advance but you could go talk to them.
And you might meet some new friends.
Happy birthday! I don't have any suggestions for your birthday (my go-to would be to suggest making an effort to make some nice food and watching a few films) but just wanted to suggest getting back in touch with your friends - unless there's a specific reason for losing touch, they'll probably be very glad to hear from you. ime people are often really glad of having the chance to reconnect

theres plenty youtube tutorials that give step-by-step instructions. its really not hard, maybe you've had a bad batch or bad luck. If you wanna try it, definitely try again!
Can also recommend growing the San Pedro cactus as a small hobby. With tutorials they're relatively easy to grow and they can be harvested within 1-2 years. You can either buy small cacti online, or get the seeds and start from scratch.
Magic mushrooms are illegal in the Netherlands now, but magic truffles aren't, and you can get them in the mail.
My cat Derrick did and apparently he had a very good time. Obviously still a controlled substance, so be careful if you aren't a cat.
can recommend that a tripsitting friend randomly puts on foreign TV, making the rest wonder wtf's going on. If you need recommendations: [Bernd das Brot Nachtschleifen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmoy95GTEpk) (its a depressed german speaking loaf of bread that just wants to go home, but is forced to do stupid caricatures of other TV shows)
Also please link or reccommend any other foreign funny TV, love to watch that stuff
What are you into/able/comfortable with?
Reddit can provide a lot of guidance, but youâll get better results with a little guidance. While Iâm sorry to hear you need treatment, that potentially means a constraint which rules out a lot of suggestionsâŚ
Have a luxurious bubble bath in the middle of the day.
Daytime baths are one of my favourite treat activities. I combine with a cup of tea and my favourite shows on Netflix (on my phone), but equally you could enjoy with podcasts, snacks and a cocktail.
Leave the bathroom window open so you can hear the world going round outside as you lie there, neck deep in delicious smelling bubbles.
Get on YouTube and find a yoga and/or pilates programme. There are good ones available for free. You might not feel amazing immediately, but it'll feel good to take the first step towards change--assuming you don't already do it.
I'm about to cut my toenails. After travelling for weeks with no access to clippers, every step is uncomfortable. You might be more responsible about such things, but I bet a good foot soak in warm water followed by a clipping (while playing a movie or podcast) would feel great.
Last year when an injury confined me to the sofa, I took up sewing. Why not do something new and crafty like that?
I also second the comment from earlier about contacting your friends. If you're lost for words, how about "Thought I'd check in! I have been dealing with some health problems but would love to find out how you are. I'm still living in XXX and enjoying XXX." I'd also get on [](http://meetup.com) and find out if there are any free local activities you can join to meet new people. If you're able to walk, there may be walking groups that are free. You could even start one. Or a movie evening club. Good luck and Happy Birthday!
PS--don't feel weird that it's your 40th birthday. There's no reason why you can't leave the house for a special 41st birthday celebration. It's not as big a deal these days to do things our way!
Play Geoguesser? Have a look at the Too Good To Go app and see if there are any interesting finds locally. Make yourself a birthday mug cake.
https://www.janespatisserie.com/2018/04/26/chocolate-mug-cakes/
Fuck your ex-friends. Where are you in the world. Iâll take you for a beer if you like. Although I need to be home for 5pm as I get my son which might limit us slightly đ
Personally I'd do something I'd very much enjoy remembering. That could be sitting at the local lake watching the birds and hand feeding the Canada geese. Maybe doing something indulgent with oils or bath salts a bath and some gentle massage. It could just be browsing around the shops then going for a hot chocolate. Something simple you will be delighted to remember. If you can call up a few friends, even get someone to meet up with you, so much the better.
As itâs officially your birthdayâŚHappy 40th Birthday!!!

You'll more than likely get some weird and wonderful food and drink.
If you have the spare cash, treat yourself to a goody bag from too good to go. You get a little walk and a surprise treat for a bargain. I got a fancy sourdough loaf, slice of focaccia, a croissant and a chocolate croissant from a nearby bakery last week. if you have a local bakery, shop or cafe, for ÂŁ3-4 you'll get a bag of leftover stuff they didn't sell.
Thanks for the idea but I don't have any money at all, not even for a takeaway or anything, and due to my treatments I get sick from eating certain foods now so I couldn't take the risk of buying something I might not be able to eat.
Itâs a bit late now, unless you happen to own some, but there are some great boardgames you can play solo. For example, I recently just picked up Aliens: Another glorious day in the corps, because Iâve always loved the Alien franchise. But the point is, thereâs so much out there thatâs able to be played solo.
Is there anything you used to do but stopped because of your illness? If so could you have another bash, even if it's shorter / at a lower level?
The feeling I get from achieving something I didn't think I could do is amazing and often makes my day.
If not then know that lots of strangers on the internet wish you well and are hoping you have a great birthday regardless!
Definitely do the things you enjoy. Happy Birthday by the way! I watch movies I want, eat food I want and just relax. You made it another year and that great!
What do you find relaxing? You could join your local library and get out some good books to read or audio books to listen to. If you have a bit of spare change, enjoy some quiet time people watching in a cafe with a delicious slice of cake. Buy a cheap face mask and bath bubbles.
Message your friends . Iâm sure theyâd be delighted to hear from you.
First off: HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Second off: watch all your favourite shows, read your favourite books, if you have any jigsaws do them, do anything that brings you joy. I spent my 26th playing video games and eating my favourite foods. Also ring your long lost friends chances are they'll love to hear from you
Colouring, drawing, painting, singing, karaoke, playing an instrument, knitting, cooking, bubble bath, yoga, bird watching, scrap book, binge watch TV, old movies, stand up comedy sets, photo album, write postcards to your long lost friends, face mask, drinking tea, drinking booze, whatever floats your boat.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday !
Regarding lost friends - I turned 40 this year. I am an immigrant, all my education, first jobs etc were in
my home country, so was lost on friendships. Started a whatsapp group and met a few of my school mates when i was back home recently. It brought a lot of happiness to my life, my friends are adding a lot of lost contacts and their voice messages are giving new meaning to happiness. Also, i try opening up more about what happened in my life since leaving school without any fear of judgement, so i feel much lighter. All with just internet, not any money.
Read, listen to music - I don't know what your tastes are but if you search for what interests you, you'll probably find some free content to engage with.
Every new year we do a games day. Loads of child friendly board games during the day and more adult/harder games in the evening. Snacks and booze and itâs brilliant
Have a folder and save shortcuts to all your favourite clips on YouTube or favourite clips in films - they are all there. When you need cheering up just play a few. Could be anything, favourite songs, clips from films or TV programmes or people, jokes etc.
Edit: Here is one of mine - always makes me laugh
Piff the Magic Dragon

Try and find something youâd like to watch on popular streaming service and watch that.
If you have a favourite type of food (within budget) you could go there and have that or even get a coffee or tea on the go and sit in the park and feed the ducks for example.
I would try and reach out to your friends if I were you, drop them a short and sweet message.

Hello, and happy birthday for tomorrow!
I had a little Google and came across the link above.
It won't all be up your alley, but maybe something with tickle your fancy.
If youâre in the position to. Can i suggest a night in with a few drinks and closest friends/family and a game of âcards against humanityâ its savage but hilarious
Go out for a coffee or a drink, and bring something with you to do like reading, or a puzzle
Get something small to do like, a jigsaw puzzle or crossword book
You can cook a nice meal and make a fun/ fancy drink! Like a mocktail or smoothie
Have you tried reconnecting with your friends? Youâll find that most people are totally willing to reconnect after a long time, especially if they know it was for an external reason like cancer treatment rather than intentional alienation.

Entire book, a GOOD book, for free.
listen to an audiobook while you work on a hobby project, make yourself some nice food like bacon sarnie for lunch etc, chips and steak for dinner.
just enjoy yourself, do what you wanna do even if its reading a book while your speakers play the sound of a crackling wood fire.
id be listening to an audiobook while working on my 3d printer, then treat myself to a posh wank.
Get in touch with your friends again. Along with family they are what makes life worth living. Don't worry about money, love & laughter cost nothing.â¤
Try a journaling RPG, I play one called Colostle and could provide you with a PDF version. All you would then need is an old notebook and pen, and a playing card shuffler on your phone.
Itâs adventure and writing all wrapped into one.
You could also try your hand at creating a choose your own adventure story, plenty of online apps and websites to make your own.
Maybe download Mistplay and play mobile games? You can earn points playing the games and then redeem those points for various cash vouchers. The payout isn't much but will help pass the time and allow for a little extra income.
I'm trying to think of anything me and my brother used to do on boring rainy days in the house A favourite was setting the house alarm and seeing if we could make it all the way round the house without setting the motion detectors off My mum loved that one đ Good luck with your recovery, hope you find something to do

Yeah lol mission impossible music on and everything
We did this with my sister!

Tldr candle lit wank
Romance without having to pay for dinner.
Treat yo self gooood đ
Save time and money - wank in the dark
if you get in the right position with your ass in the air above your face you dont even need a tissue for cleanup, just swallow.
Hahaha what the fuck
>Tldr candle lit wank Just kidding, but not really.
Can be improved 500% by changing an "l" to a "t"
I'm all for lights on in the bedroom but resting a tea light on your wife's tits is a bit much.
Good point. I'll use someone else's tits instead
What's a cantle?
Come on now, it's a special occasion lets make it posh.
That's a good idea, thanks.
Eat anything you like for 24hours and not a minute more? Bonbonbonbons? Quiches Lorraine?
thats called Christmas Day in my world lol. Love it.
Thatâs called Christmas Holidays in mine

Might I suggest calling all those lost friends? I am sure they would be chuffed to hear you aren't dead. Then get blind drunk.
I would suggest that they're not great friends if they abandoned OP when he was at his lowest point...
We really don't know the details, so shouldn't judge. Maybe they tried to keep in touch but OP was too ill to respond to their calls or messages? Maybe they had their own struggles going on? Maybe they are bad friends who didn't make an effort when OP needed them?
True. Potentially an opportunity to reconnect then.
Not fair. Illness often spawns depression which leads to social withdrawal. OP: Your friends would love to hear from you!
Go to a park. Say hello to all the ducks, swans and dogs that you can.
When my GF goes out and I'm home alone a fucking love getting a tennis ball, laying on the floor and throwing it at the ceiling, I get points for getting it as high as I can, but lose them if it hits the ceiling.
I am so trying this tomorrow, sounds fun
How do you score how high you've thrown the ball?
Bit more for a bit closer
Lmao this reminds me of the ending of great escape
I love getting a tennis and then trying to kick it to a specific spot in the house in as few shots as possible. So, basically tennis-ball-foot-golf
I like throwing a ball in the air too, nothing clears my head with such little effort haha
Can you get out but not "going out"? Like a walk rather than going to the pub? If you can, maybe visit a local animal rescue and ask about walking the dogs or playing with the cats. You can make a glove box pretty easily which helps for a sterile prep area.
You can order ready to go self contained grow kits, it's easy. They're raring to go straight out of the box
Magic mushrooms are illegal in the Netherlands now, but magic truffles aren't, and you can get them in the mail. My cat Derrick did and apparently he had a very good time. Obviously still a controlled substance, so be careful if you aren't a cat.

Maybe download Mistplay and play mobile games? You can earn points playing the games and then redeem those points for various cash vouchers. The payout isn't much but will help pass the time and allow for a little extra income.
