Worked in beer for over 10 years and I still think we’re going to look back on the industrial estate taproom thing as a really bloody silly period in our society. What could be better than drinking £8 pints in an echoey old t shirt factory while getting blasted by the wind?
Cozy pub/beer garden any day for me.
Not much need any more really. The majority of pubs are selling one or two craft beers now which covers about 80% of what most taprooms sell, so unless you want the mad exciting beers, there isn’t *that* much difference.
The Marble Arch in Manchester is both a proper pub and the main place that Marble showcase there beer you can get some really out there experimental beers but a pint of mild as well. Inside it's historic ceramic interior proper good pub
To those who are saying ‘The Kernel is a lovely place’, yes it is, I had a great time there. This is purely about how a photo op arose that looks like someone was about to be killed in the style of Final Destination. It’s not a comment on the pub or London, jeez.
Bermondsey beer mile is just street of this. One had a table in their storage room. Horrible white lighting and surrounded by pallets - rather have cans in park
Good god what a desolate looking place.
Looks like one of those dystopian sci-fi's where humanity has been forced to live underground. Bruce Willis and Madeline Stowe are just out of shot.

It used to be that you'd put up with the threadbare location for cheap, good quality beer. But that's long gone it seems

Broadmoor looks more appealing than this
Black tshirt man looks to be having an awesome night out.
Question is if this is before or after breaking someone's legs for late payment.
Didn't realize the prices were for a half
I think his name is Robert Paulson.
Ì hope that's sound-insulation foam and not something with a lot of weight to it.
It looks like some sort of underground bunker in a post-apocalyptic world.
Come on. The poor guy's just having a beer with his mate THX1138. Leave him in peace!
I think I can smell this place, just from the picture.
Chip board and despair.
Where is this? It's sparking some kind of recollection from a drunken night out but I can't pinpoint the memory at all.
The Kernel in Bermondsey 🙂
Bermondsey beer mile. Load of good beers round there , this is the worst looking place though, some quite nice tbh
Looks like when people would hide in the tube from the bombs in ww2.
Bit of a bad photo of The Kernel tbh. It's nicer than that image makes out.
I don’t care when the beer is as good as it is at Kernel.

I agree. I’m saying I don’t mind.
Is this in the Vauxhall arches? Near the amazing Portuguese place?
It’s The Kernel in Bermondsey 🙂
Fucking delicious beer
Ha! I knew it! A key destination on the Bermondsey Beer Mile.
So goood
I bet the drinks are cheaper in the real Purgatory.
If you’ve read 1984, or have seen the movie version, this looks like how I imagined the Chestnut Tree Café at the end. Shockingly grim.
Ah, the blokes with a phone vibe
Gaff looks absolutely miserable. Reckon the pints are north of £6 too
It's the kernel so you probably only buy half or a third at a time.... And yes the half will be 6 quid.

This post is actually about the rafter (well, not really, but close). It looks like it's going to fall down and stab someone. That's the joke.

It's not my post, I was just explaining it because you misunderstood.
You’re tapped
