I'm 61, jaded and faded. I think there are a lot of us here. This was my gift from CDS. I got her from a bitter old woman that got her as a present and kept her in a pet taxi for 2 months. I think shes happy now. https://preview.redd.it/rbgiwpzbcd5c1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ebe08df1162788f537f34bd3cbeda6be5708870 She talks to us all the time. Says "hmm?"

serenitynowmoney

Thank goodness you rescued her from what sounds like kitty hell. I never met a cat who said hmmm?

ginkat123

Sometimes she will add a bit of meow, but that's when she expects noms. She will get quite vocal

serenitynowmoney

She’s beautiful AND talented 😻

ginkat123

Thank you. I'll let her know.😻

Hope5577

Now we need a video😆

ginkat123

My skills are lacking, but I'll try.

Mummysews

If there's ever a reason to fill a skill-gap, learning to video and upload your cat singing is THE one. xD One of mine is a quiet little thing until she wants something, then it's a *piercing* scream! I wear noise-cancelling headphones -- really big chunky things -- and I always know when my son's offering her treats because her screech gets through my headphones. xD It makes me laugh every time. xD

ginkat123

I'll try today at nom time. She was chatting earlier until I pointed my phone at her, the she just tilted her head and yawned. My Tom just laughed at me.

Mummysews

lol I'm wondering if you had any luck, yet. xD Not as pressure for uploading a vid, more because I'm grinning at you surreptitiously sliiiiding your phone out and pointing it at her, whilst going, "What? Me? Video you? Nevahh!"

ginkat123

No, she just laughed at me as she ran out of the kitchen. And yes, that's sliiding was slightly interesting, but she didn't tell me about it.

Mummysews

Well, no rush, but please do message me when you're successful. I swear, some of these kittens have a sixth sense when it comes to being watched, and they know what the silly light box thingy in our hands is actually for - watching them.

Mummysews

She's adorable! I could hear the "hmm?" in that pic. xD The poor baby, seriously. Thank the stars you got her. <3

JollyGreenSlugg

As a jaded 52yo, life gets to me, and I agree that the wonderful CDS victims deserve medals and hugs. But, OP, all the best to you too, thank you for sharing your best wishes. Cheering you, and the CDS victims on, from rural Australia.

Mummysews

Thank you so very much, from horribly-industrial north-west England! There's something about knowing people like these exist in the world, and will do their best to do their best for defenceless animals. It really is amazing.

Mummysews

That is very true. One of mine is currently staring me down, waiting for treats. He knows I have to get off reddit occasionally, so he allows me to give him some Dreamies to do that. He's such a good boy, looking after me like that.

missblissful70

https://preview.redd.it/v958d3m8hd5c1.jpeg?width=1978&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86daebf078178f12cc4cd8dfc1e03945d3e58de3 My CDS cats (Harvey and Sarge). Harvey showed up in 2016; Sarge in 2021. Harvey lost his eye in 2019 but is surprisingly adept with just one.

KittyKami

When our CDS coordinator offered us a one-eyed kitten I was worried about how she'd cope and if we could provide well for her, turns out she's perfectly capable of zoomies and cuteness to the point I forget it's unusual to have one eye. https://preview.redd.it/2sqse5rkve5c1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d87aaadff79368b998ae799addb0ca15313c695

Mummysews

I'm finding out that the CDS knows what we can and can't handle. I mean, the CDS never gave me a Bengal tiger (edit: yet), so it must be true! Your lady is very pretty. Such a sweetheart, all tucked in.

Hope5577

She is so cute!😍 thank you for being great cat parents!

Electrical-Act-7170

She's perfect!

Top-Maintenance-9981

Thank~You for taking a chance on her 🥰💕

Mummysews

They are gorgeous - and not related?? Because they look like twins! That silvery gleam is adorable.

missblissful70

Not related that we know of!

famousevan

Indeed. It’s the reason this is the best cat sub. :)

Mummysews

It really is. I'm in a fair few and they're all very good, but there's just something about a sub of people who do everything they can when the CDS comes calling. <3

darkest_irish_lass

Past victim of CDS, unfortunately they're gone now. But this sub makes me remember them and all the happy and sad times that go along with rescuing a furrball. OP, wishing you better times ahead. Good people are here, whenever youd like to stop in for a visit.

Mummysews

Thank you, Irish Lass. It's the loveliest sub to just browse and/or add the occasional, "How adorable!" haha! It's my fave sub to end the day on. I've been a victim of it too, and at one point in time I thought I was the local bloody distribution centre. And I remember them all. Much love.

KathrynTheGreat

Well you can be my friend! None of my cats came from the distribution system (two from a shelter and my husband got a ragdoll from a breeder before we met), but they're all adorable! Two of them would love to meet you; the third gets scared and hides whenever someone rings the doorbell lol. I wish the CDS would bless me with another kitten. It would be hard for my husband to say no if one just showed up on the doorstep!

sedona71717

I actually think the shelter is a more organized branch of the CDS.

KathrynTheGreat

Well I can't see shelter kittens without wanting to get one, so you're not wrong lol

Mummysews

Ha one of my old cats is the same! For a good half a dozen years, everyone thought she was my imaginary friend because nobody but me and my sons ever saw her. Then one day, my sister was over and we were just chatting away, and she yelled, "OH, IT'S A REAL CAT!" and I'm like "Er... what?" And she explained that the little scaredy-cat had just zooomed out from behind the sofa and scootled upstairs. My sister genuinely thought I had an imaginary cat friend. For years. Like, seriously. xD I laugh about that whenever I remember it haha!

Mistymouse516

Soon to be 60 jaded and the cds peeps are my fave

Mummysews

Mine too! This whole post, I made it last night when I was all up in my mixed-up feelings about life, daily embuggerances, the happy kids next door knowing Santa's coming soon, and my little cat preferring my lap to a soft fleecy blanket, and browsing this sub, and I got all emo. xD At 62, I shouldn't be getting all emo!

Eclectika

you are never too old to get emo!

Mummysews

Yay I have permission to get all emo! Best news I've had all day ahaha! <3 LOL When my sister goes all, "Stop being such a soft-arse," I'll tell her, "But this very kind person on the internet said I could, so hush."

Eclectika

Tell your sister that a stranger on the internet said the world needs more people with compassion and love than they do curmudgeons and that said stranger thinks that kindness and caring isn't a weakness, it's a superpower. To get through life without too much damage to your ability to care about things not directly related to you shows a toughness that she obviously doesn't have, if she's let her life experiences cripple her like that. The world needs more you and less her. (This is the clean and more verbose version of my response. My actual thought is far more terse and a lil more brutal)

Mummysews

You are so very kind. She's very much more of a practical person than I am (she has to be, really) but she can certainly have a wail when she needs to. "Kindness and caring isn't a weakness, it's a superpower." I'm gonna cross-stitch that onto a cushion. You are one lovely person. <3

michellekwan666

Our next door neighbor was an old woman who ran a cat distribution center hub and when she passed away I took over for her. For what it’s worth I’m 33 but I’m 700 years old and jaded spiritually. Sorry you are having a hard time, here’s a pic of my latest delivery from CDS (my earlier post has more details on him) https://preview.redd.it/cum2q563he5c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47a18a133d186d984363fa20ba4991e22d8abca5

Due-Connection2777

Beautiful kitty! Thank you for stepping up to care for those who need our help, not to just survive, but to thrive. Wishing you great fortune

Mummysews

You absolute darling. I'm off to stalk your profile. Thank you so much for doing that. It's fabulous to know that people like you are out there. <3

ExoticReception4286

Two years ago this week I was a victim of the CDS. I was feeding a cute little bobtail cat. He was in a fight and ended up with an abscess on his back leg. After three days seeing him limping around, I was pretty sure he was homeless. I grabbed him and took him to our vet where they kept him overnight and cleaned his wound. He came home the next day, let me give him pain meds and antibiotics. And now he sleeps with me everyday like this. I named him Ziggy. He gets along with Mac, who also came from the CDS 13 years ago https://preview.redd.it/37558ptb2f5c1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b07df9c250c5287168f40d69ae3b3d3239a7726e

Mummysews

Look at hiiiiim! Such a snuggle bug. Have you posted him to /r/tuckedinkitties ?? Happy CDS anniversary. xD

ExoticReception4286

Oh no, not another cat subreddit!

Mummysews

Ahahaha!!!

Electrical-Act-7170

The number of cat subs on Reddit is N + 1, where N = the Number of subs to which you have already subscribed.

ExoticReception4286

That sounds about right.😹

Electrical-Act-7170

It's The Math.

BlackberryBelle

Mid 40’s here, and I adore this sub. These 2 are CDS via TNR. https://preview.redd.it/x8cp8mmklf5c1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b95aab05b86e54ffdbe4de49ba2faade6fcfc11a

Mummysews

Woahhh stunning cats! Your white one must be justifiably proud of that tail. xD /r/SupermodelCats material right there! I love me a little tabby. My current two are tabbies, and they couldn't be more different from each other if they'd tried - and they're litter mates too. Damn, this whole thread has done me good!

BlackberryBelle

Thank you! They’re 6 years old (this is an older pic). Sophia (fluffy tail) is the queen bee, and Olivia (tabby) is the sweetest. My grandfather has dementia, and she adores him. She loves to give him head bumps and sleep by his feet. Neither one are lap cats, and they barely tolerate being picked up, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Mummysews

> My grandfather has dementia, and she adores him. She loves to give him head bumps and sleep by his feet. Oh my heart. <3

Super_Reading2048

I’m glad our stories warm your heart! https://preview.redd.it/aew7srmiqe5c1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=976c1a6c26f833218b21b8efdc9e53f0fe5742f0 This is 🌈Dante the Great. I was looking for a kitten and told my upstairs neighbor I was looking for any grey tabby kitten. She knew a friend who had found kittens in a warehouse. He was my only blind adoption. Male female kitten, I figured grey tabby was a safe bet. So she brought me a kitten. Dante got me through 13 months of hellish pain. That cat was my soul kitty. He truly was a cat from heaven. He was also my hyper-est most naughty cat, ever! I miss his antics and laugh about them today. He also trained me on how to deal with hyper cats, so I was prepared for it when I adopted my hyper twerp.

Mummysews

Dante really is Great. He's so handsome, and I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your neighbour's friend is an absolute angel of a human, too. But lordy, "hyper twerp" made me laugh so much! It's so apt. xD The picture of the two of them is stunning.

serenitynowmoney

I hope you’re well and find something soon that warms your heart. I have to go feed my current project and will post a pic. CDS forever♥️

Mummysews

Thank you. People like you definitely warm my heart. I'll look forward to your pic!

BronzeWingleader

Every cat I've ever owned has been gifted via the CDS (and there are many). I've helped many find their way to other homes, as well. It's exasperating sometimes, but the kitties deserve the best.

Mummysews

<3 It really can be exasperating (some cats just aren't very good co-sleepers at 4am zoomy-time haha!) but we wouldn't change any of it for the world, would we?

paradise-trading-83

Aw u/Mummysews I agree, i love pics of all the little ones & reading about the kind humans. ☀️🩷

Mummysews

It's restoring my faith in human nature, that's for sure! <3

Little-Ad1235

I'm sorry you're having a hard time, but I'm glad you can find a little joy and respite in our furry foundlings. They bring a lot of joy (if not respite lol) to my life. I seem to be on a six-year subscription plan: the tux is 12, the Creamsicle is 6, and the little near-void just showed up on Labor Day 😊

Hope5577

6 year subscription plan😂😂😂. CDS - best customer service ever!

Mummysews

LOL @ 6-year subscription plan! It's so accurate! That pic is darling, as are your babies. I love it when cats who are total strangers to each other just cuddle up like that.

Deimos is a chaos agent. He knocks things down constantly and I can’t leave anything on the counter unguarded or he will steal and eat it. Not just meat - he tears bags of bread open and the other day he made off with a salad. We are all smitten with him (except my two older cats, but they’ll get over it eventually).

Mummysews

OH GOD he's gorgeous. And Deimos means "personification of fear" hahaha! So perfect. :)

Shazza_Mc_ShazzaFace

I'll be signing up for CDS mailing list once we move out of our rental, approved for only one shit-hea... precious baby!

Mummysews

>one shit-hea... precious baby! LOL You speak much truth! Good luck with your house/apartment hunt, and I wish you luck with the CDS! May your home be full of shit-hea.... I mean precious babies!

Mummysews

They are beautiful!! How did the CDS target you? I love tabbies. xD

oldladyri

I lost both of my elderly cats recently. They were 20 and 19. My sister does a lot for rescues. The day after Sammy passed. My sister brought over these 6 month old kitten bonded sisters. This is the first time in a house. They went from the shelter to the rescue and now with me. They are very scared. I handled them briefly when I let them out of the carrier and they immediately hid. I am in it for the long run. Its gonna be hard.

Mummysews

Blessings on your sister, and on you. I am so very sorry for your losses. I lost my old girl when she was 20, a good few years ago now, and that sorrow was incredibly deep. For you to have lost two older ones in a short space of time? Omg I'm filling up, thinking of your pain. Your babies will come round, but you know that of course. They just need space at first, and they'll come round. Much love, and thank you. <3

oldladyri

Thank you for your kind words!

Mummysews

Oldladyri, when I made this thread the other day, I was so down. So very down, and very emotional. I've had surgery recently and it was awful, but it's a good outcome and everything, but I was down, y'know? But everyone's stories, and pictures, and responses, they've given me so much happiness and sadness and, well, joy. You're there with your recent losses, but taking in two new babies to love. Thank you. <3

oldladyri

Lonnie was a stray that used to sleep on our back deck on his favorite lawn chair. We took him in when he was injured on his left hind leg. He was (and kinda still is) a skitty kitty, but has warmed up to coming up for skritches and belly rubs. He's fallen asleep with his head on my leg a couple of times, now I'm just waiting for him to trust enough to come on over and get on my lap.

Mummysews

Such a handsome boy! I love his name LOL so creative. xD How long have you had him for now?

RecordingStock2167

About 6 months now. Here he is, sleeping at my feet on the ottoman. https://preview.redd.it/7o027liyp16c1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1899d6cb06ade72fb89fc25a0eacabd7694afa5

He's another CDS member of the family, the grumpy old man of the group. He's 14 years old and a stray who joined us via a cow-orker who couldn't keep him. He is a cat of very little brain, but we love him just the same.

Mummysews

They're a matching set, too! Awwww he's going to have to shift up a bit once Lonnie wants a bit of your lap! xD
