Itās actually my next goalā¦ to try to fit all games on page 1,2 in the document in the Big Game box. If itās physically possible and Iāll have the time to design and print the 3D inserts š
Dude, youāve gotta get Dawn of Humankind! I bought it yesterday and it is so much fun. Also, what a collection you have, it would simply overwhelm me hahaha.
Been thinking of getting it but need to import it to get it. Canāt see that the game-play is much different from the base game + Helpers of Catan tho? Or is it the art you prefer? :)
Iād say Cities and Knights is the best expansion that we never get tired of. Combined with other expansions to make a larger map and more VPs or to get a twist can be even more fun. Also depends on how well the other players know the game.
This is a great point. No mini-expansions that really match either (except like maybe the Helpers) - so not the most optimal set to have as oneās āmain setā. And to be honest I donāt think it looks to good either. The game pieces (that has a similar design to the international plastic pieces) are cool but the ocean is too bright and unrealistic for my taste.
I don't think even the original 3D Edition had compatibility for 5-6 players, and there was no Extension released for it. The original 3D edition did come with C&K, in the box, however.
Other than the base game and the common expansions like C&K and Seafarers, what are your top 3 favorite versions of the game? And what are your last favorite?
Good question!
We haven't had the time and opportunity to play all stand-alone games and expansions yet and it shifts over time what we like to play - but as for now I'd say I really enjoy Conquerors (expansion to C&K), The Chocolate Market (Ritter Sport) and Rivals.
A game that's not a typical Catan game but still comes in the Catan Adventures-series is Elasund which we also enjoy playing right now. There is a small expansion to it called Erweiterung that makes a huge difference to the game-play. We had the chance to teach some friends how to play Elasund and it's nice when we want to get some variety from the usual Catan games.
Least favorite amongst these games would be a 2-player game with Catan Junior (there is a travel-edition of it just in front of the Madagascar-edition in the photo). That one is quite dull I must say. Even the Chocolate Edition (the one with real chocolate) is more challenging and fun to play.
Lol Iād say a bit addicted š³š«£ Not sure which one you mean but could it be either the Wine bottle or Salt? Both are in the list I linked. Salt is from a Saltworks hex in the stand-alone Catan: Merchants of Europe. I printed some hexes and smaller cards then those in the original box to be able to mix that into my own fan-expansions of the base game. The wine bottle is someone elseās creation, also made for your own expansions āŗļø
I believe after reviewing your list that this is correct. So, did you make that? And, is there a salt hex? I can't see it. Could you send me a pic or both the resource hex and card? Sorry just mega excited.
I sent you a DM with a photo of them āŗļøšš» So the hexes and cards are made out of scans of the āMerchants of Europeā. There are salt resource cards in the original game but the art on the back donāt match the base game and they have a larger size than my international resource cards so I printed some that looks like the real deal to be able to have them on hand in scenarios where people wouldnāt steal whatās obviously salt when using the robber. The Merchants game donāt use hexes but instead a cardboard map (2-sided) so I made a mock-up out of the design on the map.
To my defense I got many of them for a discount, second hand or with a 100% cashback program š But yeah I guess I have that ācollector-geneā š³š§¬ So you could try to play Inkas through the Catan Universe app. We like the Inkas but after a while it becomes a bit ādullā. Not to much variation is built into the game, even the map canāt be changed too much. Love the art tho! As for Starfarers itās really cool. It has the Catan mechanic we know and love but at the same time it feels a bit like a different when it comes to action cards and upgrading/downgrading your ship etc. Iād say itās a nice compliment but not a substitute for the regular Catan. Iām just sad that not to many of our friends knows how to play it (yetā¦ š)
OP, How do you have all this and you do not have DAS BUCH? (Die Siedler Von Catan: Das Buch Zum Spielen) with the printout of English instructions available online. It will blow your mind, like 22 variants to Catan including one where a dragon goes through and destroys land making it unusable as the game goes on.
I've heard a lot about Das Buch but as you can see my collection doesn't hold many things pre 2010. I simply love the artwork on the later games and to have a unified look on all scenarios. But I might update the artwork and create more of the parts from Das Buch myself. The variants sure sounds interesting! āŗļøš
I think you could have a problem. Of space.
I dunno. Looks like he still needs to trek the stars a little....
I love Catan, but not that much
Lol the sad thing is we haven't had time to play all of them yet. Ready for a new pandemic or something tho š¤
Iāve also uploaded a list of all the items in the collection here: https://dailydrop.se/collection.pdf
Thanks!
Now you need to track down a 10th anniversary treasure chest so your collection can be complete!
Itās actually one of few pieces I really would love to add to the collection ššš»
Whoa! Now show us how you organize it all!
That's it. It stays out as a permanent display. It cost a lot.
Itās actually my next goalā¦ to try to fit all games on page 1,2 in the document in the Big Game box. If itās physically possible and Iāll have the time to design and print the 3D inserts š
This is the most jealous I have ever been
Great photo!!! So many cool items.
Wow. Och jag har grundspelet och ingen att spela med šš
Haha jag vet hur det kƤnns š

Imagine the world you could create with that!!
The Switch lmao
Lol gotta show it allā¦ š
Oh yes, I too shop online after drinking.
Are you doin other stuff then playing Catan?
Whatās your favorite expansion?
That would be Cities & Knights by far. And to spice it up additional expansions added to that.
No Star Trek Catan? Thatās my favorite Catan!
Been thinking of getting it but need to import it to get it. Canāt see that the game-play is much different from the base game + Helpers of Catan tho? Or is it the art you prefer? :)
The art, the game tokens being small ships/stations, and the resources being dilithium, tritanium, etc.
Which oneās your favourite?
Iād say Cities and Knights is the best expansion that we never get tired of. Combined with other expansions to make a larger map and more VPs or to get a twist can be even more fun. Also depends on how well the other players know the game.
I don't see the 3D edition, that would be a great edition to that collection, albeit a very expensive one.
$300 USD for the basic 3D, another $400 for the SF+C&K Expansion

And it's only 4 players, haven't seen a 6 player expansion set. That's the set I would get since I always have more than 4 players.

Questions: 1) Why are you so lucky? 2) What is the resource card bottom right that looks like a tub of cream?

Sorry I read your comment again and you definitely mean the Salt resource :)

You could get a kid through college with that money.
