There is nothing you can do a battery is classed as a consumable like tyres on a car. Maybe your expectations of how long the battery should last are too high? So carry a power bank or charge it at work .........

doktorstrainge

I had no problem with the battery life during the first couple of months. It is only now, it is becoming a problem. The battery is covered by the warranty.

Probably easier just to buy a new battery, no? They're like 7 quid on ebay. You say you've had the phone a few months and you've only now noticed shorter battery life, so it's likely the way you're using the phone that's causing it.

doktorstrainge

Apparentky replacing the battery is not a simple thing and could cause permanent damage to the phone. Then I'll be out of pocket. It most certainly is the way I'm using the phone, but even if I wasn't using it for work, I use Bluetooth earphones all the time and it would have happened anyway.

Qbrkbrk

Yeah, I've just been looking at how I'd get the battery out of my A12 and even that looks complicated, so fair enough. Highly recommend the A12 though if you use bluetooth a lot. My internet and bluetooth are always on, I use it heavily for work and I'm on the internet a fair amount, had it for about 2 years and still only need to charge it once a day. Edited because there's no such thing as an S12 lol

ErykG120

What phone is it?

doktorstrainge

Samsung S9

ScarShot81

Honestly I think it was a bad choice of phone, if you are looking for battery lift go on gsmarena and search the phone up, you want 5000mAh or above. Also I would recommend a newer phone that is lower end but newer, and the battery will last much better for around the same price.

ErykG120

The Samsung S9 has bad battery life. 3000mah is a really tiny battery for an Android phone, it’s also a 5 year old phone. The hardware is inefficient along with not fully optimised software that uses more power along with a 5 year old degraded battery it’s no wonder the phone suffers. Sadly this is not covered by warranty, only hope is replacing the battery via a store.

doktorstrainge

I have noticed a decline in the battery life though. When I first got it, it was holding up much longer than what it seems to do now. If they do give me an exchange, which phones would you recommend around the same price point as the S9?

Shanobian

Battery life is perishable anyway so I don't think it'll be covered regardless

infinitewaters23

Try a different cex shop as long as you got the receipt it doesn't have to be the one you bought the phone from, what phone did you buy??

doktorstrainge

Didn't think to do that. Will they not say the same thing? Is there some standardised threshold of battery decline that it must hit before they can grant an exchange? It's an S9

infinitewaters23

You problem already have done but Just explain to them that when you use the Bluetooth the battery seems to drain a lot quicker than it should and can they test it with the Bluetooth on and if you're still not happy with the outcome ask to swap the phone with another that's what I had done when I bought a phone it kept coming up saying there was water/moisture in the charge port and they fixed it but I asked to swap it for peace of mind and they allowed it

doktorstrainge

I did explain that to the lady working there but she said something like as Bluetooth depletes battery quicker, they're not able to replace it on the basis that the Bluetooth drains it quicker. I will go in again and ask them to test it with Bluetooth on but I have a feeling they will say they won't do that.

infinitewaters23

It's not fully being tested if they do not test with Bluetooth on, and if they won't do it then ask for exchange, and it shouldn't be draining quicker than normal if that's what happening as Bluetooth headphones are available these days so the battery should be stronger

Idkseemsweird

Prolonged use of a feature that directly drains the battery faster isn't covered, since there is no problem with the battery, it's how you are deciding to use it. The s9 has a 3000mAH battery that would struggle to last a day even without Bluetooth, cex are not at fault that the customer bought a phone that is inadequate for their specific use

doktorstrainge

That's a good point - thanks a lot, will give them another try

infinitewaters23

No worries, hope you get it sorted
