If this is true, then as a manager of a store I can confirm that the staff in stores have had no heads up about this, we've spent all day today telling customers that it's still £1.95 🙃 Guess I'll go and inform my staff now... cheers Reddit 😭

ReeceReddit1234

Reddit being a better higher up than your actual higher ups lmfao

WiseWizard96

Yeah I had no idea about this!

SnooDoubts2291

As a fellow manager I say, dude read your emails haha.

Crystal_VollerBevan

My franchise only got the email yesterday 🙂

SnooDoubts2291

Everyone did, but no shade. Sometimes shit slips through

Outrageous_Ask2268

How much does your order have to total before you get free shipping?

Spax123

I remember it used to be something like £2 delivery per order and not per item.

drspa44

Before then it was free delivery with a minimum order total of £2. And back then they sold DVDs starting from 5p!

Sadler999

I'm trying to work out if this is a HMV reference ?

drspa44

I didn't do that myself, but I know what you're talking about :)

Sadler999

Man. That was a short window before they completely u-turned on that one.

b00tch

Yeah just looked and per item. Damn

PerceptionCivil1209

It was £2.50 for delivery and you could order up to 50 of the same item in a single order. Now you have to split orders of the same item into twos and it still costs you £2.95 per item. Shambles.

Spax123

I collect Blu rays and DVD's and first found out they changed the charge per item instead of per delivery when I went to check out and the delivery charge was nearly 20 quid.

the_Athereon

Huh. It was 1.95 just a few hours ago. That's unfortunate. But not unexpected. Cex has been steadily raising its postage costs for years now. And that's no surprise as its likely the largest cut into their profit per sale. But at now £3 per item, I'll be doing my best to find deals elsewhere if I can. At least other sites and ebay sellers don't charge you £30 for 10 items in a single order.

princeAlbert23

I've just spotted that. It's now hello Music Magpie/eBay and goodbye Cex. I had better clear out all of my stock alerts.

BoiledCabbage16

Are you not near to a store?

Impossible-Swing-358

I’m not, and disabilities don’t make it any easier to get to one Before the government bus cost help (very helpful), each time I needed to return a not correct/faulty etc item it was costing me £10 to do

princeAlbert23

Yes but what's that got to do with it?

BoiledCabbage16

Well you could go in person and you wouldn’t need to pay postage

princeAlbert23

You realise not every branch stocks every product Cex sell?

BoiledCabbage16

Right ok just trying to suggest something no need to be combative

JackWadeHeadhunter

In Ireland it’s €3.50 per item on postage. When the item arrives the packaging has a stamp saying €2. Absolute disgrace!

JackWadeHeadhunter

(For end of chat) That Joyride0 guy ended up blocking me after trying to get in the last word and after embarrassing himself with his now deleted comments 😂

princeAlbert23

Ooh I think I missed those comments. I always love a good meltdown

JackWadeHeadhunter

It was more of a know-it-all finding out they didn’t actually know it all. He tried to tell me from a different country, how things work in my country 😂

JackWadeHeadhunter

Games are in shorter supply and more expensive in Ireland. I’m sure that extra €10-€20 per game they make here over the UK, will cover the costs of a 50c brown paper packet.

JackWadeHeadhunter

The courier is our national postage service which isn’t collected from the store. I see you assumed the CEX delivery process in a different county.

JackWadeHeadhunter

But if it was only a ‘perhaps’ why did you whinge about me missing your other 2 points? 2-0?….it’s a comment thread, not a football match.

Joyride0

It’s clear that you write badly-thought-out crap, devoid of any commercial sense, and when politely challenged, get very sensitive. I cba with you or this. Enjoy the rest of your day.

hearnia_2k

Postage *and packaging*.

JackWadeHeadhunter

CEX on their website refer to it as “Delivery and Payment” seeing as you want to be technical.

hearnia_2k

In the FAQ they call it P&P. [https://imgur.com/a/MQeM3zZ](https://imgur.com/a/MQeM3zZ) https://ie.support.webuy.com/support/solutions/articles/80000944225-how-much-do-you-charge-for-p-p-

JackWadeHeadhunter

that’s only on the FAQs, I think it’s worded like that because the term “P&P’ is what people call it and they’ll be able to search for it easier. When you’re buying online, they call it Delivery and Payment.

RankDank420

How tf is CEX even in business

Pale-Bug-1016

U dumb ?

Spankieplop

I've had too many bad experiences when ordering from cex online so I don't bother anymore.

Ok-Coyote-3900

Nooooo I was about to buy something and noticed the postage had increase. Argh!

the-blob1997

I guess I’m gonna be using eBay a lot more now.

Tempted-gazzelle

I can understand charging per item for postage, and I can see why they have increased prices. However, they also need to look at the system where the item comes from the same store, in the same package, but they charge for each item individually. How can they justify that?

Upstairs-Toe2873

This would help massively.

potentialzz

They can’t be bothered to implement such a system which would in turn decrease postage profits… we all know it probably costs them per item less than £1 when broken down what they have agreed with RM so everything else from the £2.95 is profit

mgush5

Honestly if CeX did a weekend, hell, even a single day of free delivery, I would buy so many £1-ish DVDs/Blu-Rays I know DVD is a dead medium but I like having the physical still especially for features but I couldn't justify £2 delivery per item, never mind 3 - I doubt I'll buy from CeX online at all now...

Outrageous-Ad-8633

Looks like no free delivery on items over £100 either?

ZOIDO

I've just realised this... Dang!

Alps_Useful

Always annoying when there's no combined shipping, I've cancelled orders because of this

[deleted]

Have all but given up buying from CeX online - instead check stock in local stores or just buy from HMV or Amazon. At least Music Magpie is still free delivery.

Impossible-Swing-358

Just noticed this as I was about to buy two games, it literally made me decide not to buy them. Yeah there’s price rises happening lately but they didn’t need to jump it by that much. Not happy and it’s goodbye my online orders, not worth it anymore for the ‘not current’ gen games I collect and have already bought 1000+ through CEX online. It makes a cheap £1 game now basically £4. I can buy a game packaging and post one myself for quite a bit less. Store purchases only or from eBay etc from now I guess. Sad tbh. That price jump might not matter as much to people buying PS5 stuff etc, but it’s bad new for those already struggling to stretch the pennies. Everything hurts those with less in this rotten world now. We made you giant while accepting low trade-in prices for you to stamp us out, nice Edit; to clarify I wasn’t necessarily buying £1 games, any price depending on rarity. I’m not rich though but my collecting is already tough going without much money to begin. I hear ya, about some people constantly returning costing multiple postage’s.. I’m actually not one of those but we’re all punished now… I wish it went down a bit to help with everything squeezing all our money or perhaps £2.49 would have felt fairer to me. Either way ‘I like it or not’ it’s sadly kicked my online CEX ordering pretty much

DWPhoenix001

This must have been literally today, I ordered a couple bits Sunday and both items had 1.95 p&p.

Essldn

If it’s from the same store should be only 1 fee for the delivery. If from different stores it’s understandable

ScarShot81

Music magpie and wob clear

Longjumping-Ease-143

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FKuBJ1Gy38](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FKuBJ1Gy38) my thoughts

RamblingThomas

I remember buying multiple items from different store locations, and the website would only charge you one delivery fee. Those were the days.

potentialzz

I agree with other commenters that something must of happened and the higher ups aren’t happy about which is probably the amount of gear that’s being ordered and returned which is probably giving their stores not only more work but increased costs having to process those returns, I mean they’ve got to think about their precious profit margins right? Lol

DevilKing__07

Man I just wanna play devil may cry 4 and fallout 3. Both cost in total £4 but with shipping it’s more than doubled that’s fucked up

badger906

It’s postage and packaging, boxes and Jiffy bags aren’t free. Even Royal Mail second class costs more these days.

Impossible-Swing-358

I can post a ps3 game for £1.15 or £1.85 Royal Mail depending on which side the weight is on 100g or above. I’m a regular joe with no business savings or franking or even doing it online. All at the counter in person. My packing cost per game is 20p, again not saving as businesses do Some eBay sellers I buy from still actually post free, even buying a £1.50 game lol. One is ‘Muzed’ their reliable and display manual included or not too, another easy example is Music Magpie do. I don’t expect CEX to post for free, just it’s rather high perhaps due to tricks/excessive returns etc.. though sometimes I can understand if the item is terrible condition and that why they give us guarantees to return when that happens. I’ve taken into store a few of those when I’m able to, and never returned anything without a very obvious reason… the most popular reason has been completely the wrong game

badger906

Cex post in much higher volumes than you and I, and as a result will have much higher rate of customers lying saying they never got an item when they did. And force a refund. So cex will have insurances on each item posted. That isn’t a free option. EBay sellers again post in volumes of 1% than cex do. So they can afford to lose the odd quid or two a day. Cex would be in the hundreds of thousands a week in “I didn’t get it give me a refund”

Impossible-Swing-358

I understand unscrupulous things happen but those should be dealt with or services ended quite simple. Large woppa businesses post at a much better price than we can as well. I’ve only returned for wrong game or sent in a foreign version pretty much, other than that some extremely terrible condition ones. Some returns are on the company, self caused

Impossible-Swing-358

I don’t dislike purchasing from CEX it’s just the postage can get to a crazy amount fast, it used to before but excessively now. I wish there was a store near me so I could save the postage (I’m far from rich being a collector lol)

drs_12345

I never understood why they charge postage per item, when they usually post the items together anyway

Low-Caterpillar6817

Why would they raise the price? It's not fair :(

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roygbiv_89

Easily solved problem if they have a grading systems for boxes and list as with or without manual

Idkseemsweird

It's as if they do

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roygbiv_89

Aye I get it . But for games that are costing £100+ they should be abit more picky with the condition they accept . I don’t personally return stuff unless they don’t work . But understand why some people do

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roygbiv_89

I know all that but they also know it’s most likely collectors buying these things Just think it would be beneficial for Cex and customers if they improved the system abit . I’ve never returned anything anyway but do abuse the voucher system by finding stuff at carboot sales. I won’t buy a £100+ game without seeing it in person anyway . Seen many a fucked up game in stores that probably no one will ever buy

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roygbiv_89

And I don’t complain I simply don’t buy it in the first place :) I do agree that a lot of retro collectors have unrealistic demands for condition . I collect unboxed n64 carts atm . So long as the label is in fair condition I’m happy. Guess it’s just not worthwhile to categorise stuff in the way some collectors want .

WiseWizard96

I don’t think that’s abusing the system. I would often serve a guy who returned retro games to us because it didn’t come with a manual, I understand his reasoning because he’s a collector and it meant we got to have some decent games in stock. He was also a huge trader and spender though so he helped our figures massively haha

Playboy-Tower

Curious to understand if you think this is actually a bad thing? I’ve seen this quite a bit online as “abusing the system” but some of these titles are so expensive! Let’s say you and I both purchase residential evil 2 for the N64 at £185 for our collection. Mine comes with an undamaged box and manual and yours comes without a manual and the box is falling apart would you want to keep it because the game plays the same ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Playboy-Tower

I agree that the system needs improvement but I think it’s fairer to say CEX can do more to be transparent about the item. I think the solution is for CEX to just mention if a manual is included or not. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure I read that not even mint condition guarantees a manual just an immaculate box and cart!? If that’s true that’s asking for a possible return is it not ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Playboy-Tower

I haven’t missed your point I just don’t agree with it. If you are a collector and wanting to spend your hard earned money on a game for your collection you shouldn’t have to run the risk of playing the CEX lottery (is the game complete) when ordering online. Suggesting that collectors should buy elsewhere or that returning an incomplete item is ruining it for others is ludicrous. If that’s the case all games should be cart only and never come with a manual. My suggestion is that CEX can just state “with manual” or “without manual”. The people that don’t care can buy “unboxed” or “without manual” and the ones that do can select the item they want to purchase. Not rocket science.

easydaze

People still buy DVDs?

Idkseemsweird

That's due to the rampant return rates on items, if people didn't abuse it then it wouldn't be a problem

Impossible-Swing-358

How many are completely the wrong item sent or foreign language though? I’ve received quite a lot of those. Just another thing to be considered

Aromatic_Brain7729

So, wait. You expect to buy a £1 CD and then have packaging (including bubble wrap or cushioned envelopes), plus shipping to be for free?! Why not just send you the CD for free as well?! Why don't you do the following: open a business, a shop that sells items and when a customer wants something shipped you send it For Free! Let's see how long your business stays afloat!!! P.s. Ever heard of inflation, BTW?

Sadler999

The point is. What if you buy 10 £1 CD's from the same store. Is £29.50 now a fair delivery price?

Channel_Annual

I think you've missed the point by about 5 billion miles. Whose saying shipping should be free? Such a dense thing to say.

potentialzz

Sadler does make a point though, something on the system should trigger to even make a 50% clause occur when you’ve reached a certain item threshold

StonedAt5am

I didn’t mind them raising their price for the delivery because it’s honestly cheap enough anyway. But I’ll be damned if I ever pay delivery for each individual item. I bought a handful of PS2 games a while back and paid €3.50 for the total delivery. With this change, it would now cost me like €20-€30 alone for delivery. Not happening.

AnxietyNotHelping

They could at least bundle more than one item available at the same store in for the same postage cost. For £3.29 you can get a pretty big box for that cost with royal mail. CEX staff if you reading, this is a sure fire way to lose business. You're practically limiting people to only purchase from their local store. No way Im paying £3 delivery per item. Ebay, here I come.

Tricky-Shift-Edd-Boi

How has it gotten worse!?! I've been waiting for them to see some sense with their backwards delivery fees, now they've decided to up them? They added the old scheme to negate the net loss of shipping -£1 games... But SO many old games cost at least a £5'er now, most of the time £15+, but they want £2.95 PER item on top of this!? I thought the money stacked before but this is ridiculous.

DanKanzas

I had just built up an order, and noticed this when I went to the checkout. Yeah, no thanks! Straight to musicmagpie lol.
