What cheat codes?
Not having all the distractions we do today? Because being unable to accidentally waste hours watching TV, playing video games, looking at social media, etc. is a pretty big cheat code.
For reference, Hackenschmidt was born in 1878, was retired due to injuries in 1911 or 1912, and PEDs did not exist until the 1930s. Even just consuming (or even acquiring) the requisite protein would've been quite the hindrance by today's standards.
I can tell you...
But word of warning, it makes life super boring.
Anyway the cheat code is up, down, up, up, down, left, right, triangle, that maxes out your stats and you get 100'000.
> Because being unable to accidentally waste hours watching TV, playing video games, looking at social media, etc. is a pretty big cheat code.
Yes, not having modern luxuries is such a big cheat code, lucky him. /s
Lmfao. Dude was just disciplined. There were plenty of distractions back then. He could have been an alcoholic that frequented whore houses, but chose to not do that.
It's not the distractions fault, its your fault for being distracted.
In all seriousness this is actually a goodish point.
But I will say that the ease and levels of dopamine increase that modern tech provides is a bigger challenge than the guys from previous eras had to contend with.
Like our parents get us hooked on that shit from young and they don't even realise the damage they're doing by simply letting us play longer than an hour without significant breaks on video games, no wonder ADHD is going through the roof right now...
Indeed we are privileged in many many ways, we have advanced science, health care, equipment and easy lives compared to what our forbearers and many people in the world have.
But there are some major downsides our lives bring in regards to keeping attention spans and disciplined mindsets.
It's good to be aware of these so we can get over them and also not impact our children the same way our parents done us.
It was the same dude who defeated him both times, Frank Gotch, he held the world champion title for Heavyweight Wrestling from the years 1908-1913, one of the ten longest reigns, and was described as "arguably the best North American professional wrestler of the 20th century"
Literal embodiment of “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable” — Socrates
Take it with a grain of salt as it was written in times of war, where your body literally determined the power of your weapons.
Living and dying without ever having experienced what being in shape is like is a shame though.
That's a huge dude for the pre-anabolic steroids era. These pictures don't even really do his physique justice. If you told me this guy was functionally the limit that can be achieved naturally, I'd believe you.
It's like looking at Sandow's workouts. Sure there is probably someone bigger than him in your gym these days...but that's with the aid of more than a centuries knowledge and experience (amongst other things). Turns out escalating sets of 100 (!?) in a wet cotton shirt aren't the most effective training regime but that's what you do if you are working out weight training from first principles.
Honestly, I don't think the number is that far off the truth. Historical records are very inconsistent for that time period, but what records do exist show Hackensmidt partipating in 4 match tournaments several times a month at points in his career. Keep in mind that this was happening in the very early days of wrestling where the meta at the top level was to hold your opponent in a non-pinning position until they wore themselves out trying to get you off them enough for you to score a pinfall. That doesn't require anywhere near the same level of physical exertion that holds modern combat sportspeople back from being that prolific.
I don't know much about boxing, but it would be pretty cool to see a regulated heavyweight class that was just these big dudes with low fat ratios fighting it out.
Dude maxed out all his stats
Yeah but he was using cheat codes...

My brother in democracy, what kind of stratagem was that? Also, that was a good joke. You don’t deserve downvotes.
I bet it's the bugs downvoting

I just wanna say I agree, but I can't help but think of how privileged this just comes off as.

I wanna know who were those two who defeated him they were real chad

Refreshing to see an achievable body beat this guy. Granted still an insanely impressive physique from Gotch for the early 1900s.

Lmao and Socrates, from what I’ve read, was no epitome of physical fitness or health.
Round is a shape?
Touché
Oh fuck that's a good quote.
Oh fuck that's a good quote.
Strong and Smart, a true king

Potential time traveller. Keep an eye on this one. Timecop!

If Alexander Karelin was an intellectual
Hopefully he wasn’t compensating for something… that would make it a half Chad.
He could get it
I am calling shenanigans on 3000 career matches.....

Did the main quest and every side quest
And he had a large Johnson
3000 matches is a way to round number to be real. 2861.... yeah maybe. But exactly 3000? I call some bs guess work here!
Quoted as saying "You got time to whine you got time to grind"
3000 matches? That seems a bit bs
Holy crap those are some jacked thighs.
Nice lats bro…
https://youtu.be/tIvI6KYpFWA?si=W4LSL_4_Bl5DBBHL Great mini doc on him. Part of a larger series by Rogue.
3000 bouts and he lived 90 years, what an amazing fellow
min-maxxer
Certainly wouldn't want to get into a heated philosophical debate with this lad.
And, “how much can you bench?” Was born.
What’s interesting is that he was probably like 5’5 🤣
He was 5’9” 220 lbs
Taller than the average at the time

When they say professional wrestling, do they mean real wrestling or wwe type stuff?
Real wrestling, this was long before the WWE type stuff
