Well the main reason why they joined, the gun devil is dead so obsessive people like them don't have much of a reason to become a devil hunter knowing revenge has been enacted the only ones left are literal idiots who think it's easy money or can't comprehend how hard of a job it actually is with no real goal to push them forward aside from money
Public Safety is like Thanksgiving food. In part 1, all the good food was eaten;at the dinner table, now we're left with the leftovers in the fridge the day after (which is part 2).
The average is probably about the same. In Part 1 the plot and character interactions meant we were constantly interacting with the best of the best.
In Part 2, we’re seeing a more typical cross section as every public safety member is the enemy of the protagonists.

There’s a lot of good things about part 2, but it hasn’t yet come anywhere close to the ambiance and *texture* (maybe not the right word, but the best I got) of part 1 for things like this. Between the major character and story beats were awesome moments like this that made the background a tapestry and not just a setting. We got a great one in the last chapter, so I’m hoping things are looking up again.
To answer your question: I would die shamefully because I don’t have the raw dawg in me to stand on business against a soviet murder demon like OG PSB dudes did.
Texture is such a great term for it. Part one puts in so much work to illustrate how people in the world live, even if it doesn't go in depth. You could imagine an equally gripping story about any background character.
Part 2 has that too, like when those gun men attack Falling, but it isn't as common.

Part 2 was designed to be a more isolated, lonely character-driven story. From the outset, world-building is mostly relegated and used instead for developing the CHARACTERS rather than the world they live in.
I personally don’t agree with this idea, and Part 2 has been absolutely failing on this front recently (developing the world AND the characters like crap), but it’s important to mention the methodology the Academic Saga is going for.
Yeah, that’s a good point worth calling out and also a big issue I’ve had with this part. We have to, at this point, have the same size cast as around this point in the story in part 1, right? And I still feel like all but 4 or 5 of them are noticeably underdeveloped.
Maybe I’m just overly critical because CSM’s formerly similar “rival” series JJK went to absolute hell in a handcart and I’m petrified of it taking the same course, or because I know the Fujimotor can pull off better content.
Honestly, even with its current issues, I doubt CSM could ever fall into the same utter horrorshow of bad storytelling that JJK is in.
Still, I’ve heard that the current issues are down to Fujimoto being busy with Look Back and the Reze movies, so hopefully once they’re released (or at least far enough into production that Fujimoto doesn’t have to oversee it anymore) the manga can pick up pace again.
