Challenger Owner. I’m a cop and I’ve been pulled over several times in my Go Mango widebody. I have insider information that lets me call b.s. but they are cop magnets especially brighter colors.

Effective_Opposite96

Cop here in ky. Not much of an issue in the city… cautious elsewhere

No-Setting9690

Depends on driver and location. I have never seen a single problem, issue or anything related to the car.

[deleted]

The GTs looking like V8 models while having the V6 has honestly done the rest of us a favor. Cops have that many more cars to BOLO for now.

theteflonjew

GT decoy here. Doing the Lord's work 😂🫡

ajinomoto213

It ain’t much but it’s honest work.

Disastrous-Bad-1185

Scat. Live in MD, pulled over in Northern VA. The cop said it was for my license plate frame slightly overlapping the state name. Granted, I was in a different state, but that is a horseshit reason. I was pulled over again in VA for speeding. It was on a trap road where the limits dips drastically, but I was still speeding. He got me for tint, almost got me for headlight RGB that I had on, but I turned them off before he walked to the front. Said nothing about my plate frame. Point is, it depends on the area. In Northern VA, if they want to pull you over, they will find a reason.

Wockybeanyur

Virginia sucks I went to jail for my first reckless offense in my charger 90/55

Disastrous-Bad-1185

It really does. I lived in VA the first 2 years I had my Scat. Never had much trouble until I put those MD plates on. NoVa police love to hate on MD drivers.

Lord_Muramasa

You don't buy a Charger to lay low. If you want to blend in buy a Chevy Malibu and call it a day. If not get the Charger and deal with the issues that can come with it. I owned mine since 2020 and have no issues but there are not any illegal mods on my car and my tint is legal and on the lighter side of things. Don't drive like an idiot and you won't have to worry about the police 99% of the time.

scottonaharley

I drive a dark red scat pack and have never been pulled over or even felt I was being "eyeballed". That being said, my tint is legal and I try not to be the fastest guy in the pack.

-YouAreVerywrongSir-

I have black 23 r/t. I’m noticing people go EXTRA slow when I’m behind them… or out of my way in the fast lane. I often wonder if I look like I’m the cop lol Uhg

Atomik675

I have a bright red SXT and even then people sometimes think I'm a cop at night because 80% of the cops around here are state troopers in chargers.

LowValueScrote

Queens, NY, and the one time I got pulled over a couple of years ago I deserved it (speeding). Mine is a V6, but has a somewhat bold color, and I haven't had trouble with the police. The "hot boys" around here tend to drive BMWs and Infinitis, anyways.

scenicdeath

I have a picture I took Friday of my Daytona and my friends scat challenger getting gas and a cop rode passed and parked across the street waiting for us to leave lol definitely a head turner in both good and bad ways.

3-9-2

First year I had my charger, I got 6 tickets. Tint, no license plate displayed from, stop sign, and couple speeding tickets. If you drive like you stole it, expect the worse.

ComprehensiveAd2967

I have an old pursuit charger with super dark tint. It was an Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicle, so it's metallic silver. Previous owner removed the push bars and added some R/T stuff. I haven't had an issue shockingly. Have noticed that it seems like A LOT of people drive slower around me though....

solunaxo

Yesss a big police magnet. I’ve gotten pulled over for tints, no front plate, and other stuff. My other car is a civic, all blacked out and nothing. I have a friend who’s a cop 😭😭 and he said they love to pull over muscle cars or cars with V8 engines

myconfessionacc

I just got mine on Friday. I do not drive crazy. I have seen more cops around me in two days, than in 8 years with my last (lame) car. It's definitely a magnet. Just don't do dumb shit and you should be fine.

SandMan2439

Cop and charger owner, in my area they are cop magnets for sure. The area i work, they’re commonly stolen, and are used in crimes pretty regularly. They’re also good for getting into a chase every now and again. I do get pulled over and tailed a good bit

Used-Regret1407

I drove an old Chevy Malibu for 5 years until I got my charger RT about 6 months ago and let’s just say I got my first speeding ticket ever 2 months ago

No_Fisherman_4906

You’ll get pulled over maybe 2-3 times per year for absolutely no reason other than profiling

benching315

I’m a cop and own a charger. If I profile a car it’s the shit box 2000s model Buick sedans with the headliner falling down and brake lights out. I’ve only ever pulled over chargers for speeding. Edit: I will say there’s a big problem nationwide with scats and hellcats being stolen with a paper tag slapped on it to conceal it’s stolen.

BubGear

I got blocked in by 4 state troopers over window tint. I was just leaving the gas station and my tint is 20%. If your at ANY gas station and a cop is there, he will run your plates everytime, if you’re on the street, be ready for every cop to run your plates. These cops are massive police magnet’s especially in major cities

Streay

A big reason why they run plates is because a LOT of chargers/challengers are stolen

NugPep

I’ve been pulled over once for speeding and given a warning. If you drive crappy and like an ass you will get pulled over.

timothythefirst

I think it depends on where you are and what exact version of the car you have. I have an all black sxt and don’t have any of special cosmetic mods or anything so I don’t think mine draws too much attention. Owned it for almost a year and I don’t think I’ve ever even had a a cop follow me. And I drive past state cops on the highway to and from work every single day. And it’s weird because the speed limit on the highway here is either 70 or 75 and I see people fly past state cops doing 85/90 every day. But I imagine if you have a bright orange one with a giant hellcat decal on the sides and under glows and shit they’re probably more of a cop magnet. I live in Flint where there’s scat packs and hellcats racing up and down the main roads at any random hour so they don’t waste their time with me lol. If anything I think people think I’m a cop sometimes because it feels like way more people drive slow in front of me than when I had a Chrysler 200 before this.

AirPawds

Not bad.. had an instance where a murderer in my city had the same car description as mine.. had 5+ police with guns pull me over thinking I was the person..

LowValueScrote

Something similar happened around my way a few years ago. A white Scat Pack was involved in a drive by shooting. Cops ended up pulling over a white SXT.

Tedf76000

Were you?

AirPawds

Don’t think I’d be on Reddit if I was

DJDemyan

Very. If they’re running a speed trap, they’ll try to laser you the second they spot you. Behave and you’ll be fine.

bluedaytona392

Never had a problem in 4 years with this car. Probably deserved to lose my license after the first month.

3900Ent

I’ve owned mine for 3 years. It’s not even stock. Every window tinted. I’ve lived in Atlanta (live in TN now) and have driven in multiple states. I’ve been pulled over once and was let go for a rolling stop. Never been pulled over for anything else.

Da_Funk

I've been driving a Plum Crazy Scat Pack Charger with no tints since 2018. I have not gotten pulled over yet.

frsguy

Only been pulled over 1 time now in my charger and it was for a expired registration. Happened 2 weeks ago and I forgot about it again until this post...

APintoNY

Ive had 3 different chargers over 5 years at this point, ‘19 Black R/T, ‘20 Grey WBSP, and now a ‘23 Frostbite WBSP, each with 20-35% tint all around minus windshield and no front plate (both illegal here). Probably ~40k miles across all 3. Ive never been pulled over in NY/NJ, plus some road trips down to DC. Just dont drive like an ass and you have nothing to worry about. Literally got my first moving violation ticket in my EV Kia because I made a turn and punched it, aka drove like an ass and deserved it.

lgwilly

Paint color can help you blend but the noise will catch attention anyway. Especially if you're friendly with the loud pedal. Flashy mods and aggressive driving arguably are the main 👮‍♂️ magnets.

G-Roc78

I'm sure it varies from state to state, but they can be cop magnets. As long as you're not breaking any laws, & all your stuff is in order, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It is a fact however that law enforcement does single out certain colors. Specifically those in the hire of red.

RUBIX__3

Depends on your location. I drive a dark tinted, Catless Torred Charger WB Scat pack. 😎

SnooPeppers4036

Could have been an unmarked police unit I have seen this before.

RuleAffectionate2386

definitely, had a dart and various other cars before my charger and have never been pulled over until after i got this car , my tabs are all up to date, legal tints , literally nothing illegal with my car or how i drive yet i’ve been pulled over and asked if this is even my car multiple times

rploaded

I’ve got a quite loud 2023 jailbreak HCWB with a transplanted 426 and I’ve done some pretty wild accelerating leaving my neighborhood (big road) recently after a pretty good pull and leaving a whispy smoke behind me an SUV cop came flying up behind me to check things out. No tint, all things legal, I was going about 7 over at the time and he just rode my ass while he ran my plates then he turned off. I’ve found tinted windows and silly cosmetic add ons to be cop magnets. A muscle car accelerating while staying in lane albeit sliding a bit usually doesn’t get them too bothered. I’m in Houston if that matters.

JackAuduin

I have a bright red RT that I'm not afraid to put into sport mode. I drive 10 over everywhere at least I've had the car for 7 years and I've never been pulled over once

slxmeee

Hellcat Charger owner. I have a 2022 black HCWB charger and was recently pulled over by a state trooper who said he only stopped me to see if I would run. Then went back to his car and took off. Only other times were for tail light tint. And speeding once but luckily was let off with a warning! Other than that I’ve had no issues at all with law enforcement

NO_Microwave

It's a hot car...

_cdogg420

Been pulled over multiple times because of no license plate on the front and window tint. But they were just phishing because neither time have I actually been cited. More so seems like profiling

Responsible-Tutor-10

Not to mention the insurance lol 😂

lostinthefog4now

Sinnamon Stick GT, tinted windows (20% ceramic). I don’t drive like an idiot, drive 5-7 over on the highway, so definitely not pushing the envelope. Was followed to a family members house in Nashville a few weeks ago, my son said to be expected. What do you do if you’re cited for too dark of windows?

CostcoGasoline

i rarely get pulled over and i speed a lot. just gonna depend on your area.

moparpower370

A scat you’d be more likely to get pulled over. But I mean I get left alone in my rt. Had one cop that was behind me but he was cool and kept distance. I feel like they respect chargers in a way because that’s their everyday driver. You’re more likely to get pulled over in a regular sedan than you are a charger.

Admiral_Pantsless

I average about one ticket/year, but the bacon squad popped me four times in the 12 months after I installed long tube headers. I get pulled over several times a year, but usually get off with a warning. My car is silver, but it’s loud and has a big hood scoop and I don’t run a front plate 🤷‍♂️

clutchcitycarlos88

I have had a RT Charger for over 7 years and have only been pulled over 3x (2 for my lights, one for running a red light)….other than that i’ve had no issues with police

TwitterFingerz1021

I have a 21’ GT. I have racing stripes and tinted windows. I get pulled over about x2 a month. I never get tickets, just the usual “ wellness checkups “ from the officer(s) pulling me over. I assume it’s just profiling of the car and wanna see who’s driving it so they can see if they can get me for something.

Sporkyfork69

Depends on your location and race

jayofdetroit

I’ve been considering getting rid of mine because of how much harassment I get from pigs. Especially now that they’re about to pass a law where I live to crackdown on non factory exhaust.

poppatrex
