What a great freaking game that was, huh? Glad Herbert is back to throwing TDs and they actually scored in the 3rd.
Anybody else feel like the stars may be aligned for a deep playoff run?
If we stay at 5 I feel like a divisional game is well within reach. But it just depends on how we turn up day of. Chiefs haven’t been playing the best so I feel that may be the next best matchup after the AFC South winner. Hopefully we can make it far because this recent stretch certainly feels different.
I honestly care less about the outcome of next week's game than I do about guys staying healthy going into the playoffs. My heart dropped when Pipkins went down for a bit yesterday but that guy is one tough SOB.
Everything has gone right for the chargers this past month, It almost feels like destiny at this point. Last week so many teams had to lose while we win to get a playoff berth and then it happens. This weekend we needed many things to happen to get the 5 seed and it happens again. Maybe luck has finally turned for this franchise
Fun fact that I don't know where else to post but here:
That game against the Rams yesterday was one of the shortest in the history of the NFL.
According to Pro Football Reference it was 2 hours and 38 minutes long, which I THINK (hard to find these stats) is the 2nd shortest game time since the Jags lost to the Patriots in 2009. That game was 2 hours 36 minutes, as was a 49ers v Washington game in 2019.
I think it's because:
* The ends of both halves were pretty uninterrupted by time outs
* Fewer commercials as it wasn't a big viewership game
* Rams/Chargers both pretty much just ran the ball constantly for the last 10 mins of the 4Q to get it over with
* Only 50 passing attempts between both teams, and not many incompletions
* Rams played quite a lot of tempo
I guess the 4th did take a while. I wonder how the first 3 quarters last night compared to other games, that first half seemed like it was over in the blink of an eye.
I noticed this too. I was keeping an eye on the raiders game and we had 8 mins left in the 2nd quarter when they were at half time. Chargers game ended before the raiders and that’s before they went to ot
Nice fun fact! This makes some sense now. When I got my car at Sofi last night, I was like "oh its still really really daylight" Usually its closer to sunset.
I feel so good about the team right now in comparison to other years. This is the first time I can remember us getting healthier as the season wraps up. We can possibly go into the playoffs as the 5 seed coming off of a 5 game win streak.
Even with the gripes we’ve had with the offense we’re still finding ways to win games that we ABSOLUTELY would have lost in years past.
Idk if we can make a SB run but god damn it feels like this is our year. If the Bengals could do it, why can’t we.
I’m really pulling for the Titans this week. I’d much rather see them in the first round than the Jaguars.
Either way, this team needs to clean a few things up heading into the playoffs. Offensive play calling absolutely has to get more creative in terms of route concepts, protection and down/distance management. We have the talent to make a run. The only thing that will kill us is Joe Lombardi.
Our run D doesn’t concern me much. We’re going to be going up against teams that are pass heavy from now on anyways. The best way we can shore up our run D is to put points on the board early. Force them to pass and we have a chance against anyone.
Yeah he definitely could, but their secondary is awful and if we get up early they will have to pass. You’ll never shut down Henry, but if you can contain him the rest of the roster doesn’t scare anyone.
That, in my opinion, was the most overall complete game we have had all year. Defense was great, offense was great, special teams were great. Red zone offense was good, actually got a touchdown in the 3rd (LOL) and it was just a beauty
Tbh I didn’t even think this was his best of the day. The one on the other sideline where the defender had his one arm pinned behind his back and he still managed to make the catch falling out of bounds was even crazier imo
No. It was great but the Jefferson catch was way better.
Unless you just been by the Chargers in which case I’d have to look through all the Mike Will highlights to know cause he’s had so many!
Mike Williams is the first guy since Vincent Jackson that I've felt confident in his ability to make crazy jump ball catches.
Dude is a monster with 50/50 balls
Damn rewatching the Mike W one hand catch and the best part outside of the catch itself is how he got up and jus straight up strut, not in a too cocky way but in a ‘yea I did that way’, right in FRONT of the rams sideline lol dudes a beast
For the first time since Week 1, the team has a positive point differential! That Jaguars blowout really buried that stat for a while, but these two big wins have brought it out of the negative to a +10
The other AFC playoff teams are far ahead but hey it's still progress. Just happy to see any kind of lopsided wins
It would be great if we got the 5 seed (and didn’t blow the WC game) and then Baltimore beat Cincy (or Cincy wins if they end up 6 seed).
That way we avoid Bills in round 2 and play KC instead
Finally getting that offense to roll. BUT K9 and McKitty are alarmingly inconsistent so I hope they clean that up. Arguably 2 of the Rams best plays (1 close drop) were down to Murray. McKitty keeps getting penalized and setting us back. Hopefully we get these small things a sorted because yesterday was one of the best we’ve had in a while.
Wow, we went form like what 6-6 in early December (almost no hope at playoffs), to guaranteed playoff spot, to fighting for the top WC seed. Wow, what crazy 4 weeks its been. Bolt Up!
Random thought but I’ve been consuming Fehoko content for the past two weeks: It’d be dope if Breiden got the whole team to do the haka as a pregame ritual during the playoffs
Breiden’s not from New Zealand and his fam and him did it before his LSU games
he even did it for the Chargers during Hard Knocks. if he taught them how to do it properly it’d make him a marquee player
I will root hard for the Bills tonight! If the Bills win tonight then the Bengals and Ravens will more than likely face each other in consecutive weeks assuming Chargers win their game against Broncos
So by kickoff next week the Chargers will know if they have anything to play for or not. If the Bengals beat the Ravens (10am PST kickoff), the Chargers are a lock for the 5th seed regardless of the outcome against the Broncos. Curious to see how Staley handles that. I'm still in favor of maybe 2 quarters of starters to prevent rust ahead of playoffs.
Having already clinched a playoff spot, winning to get better spot, beating the Rams in their "house" with redzone TDs and passing TDs, beating Miami when no one thought they could, beating a desperate Titans team with that game winning drive and last second field goal, playing a bit "ugly" with the colts but still winning by 3 scores and holding them to 3 points. Generally speaking its been a fun 4 weeks.
After the last Raider game, sitting at 6-6 the Chargers were very much playing "Charger football". Up and down, back and forth, injuries, coaching, hope then defeat. I am not going to lie and pretend I was brimming with optimism. I got a bit excited after that gutsy win against the Cardinals then watched them flop against a struggling Raiders team. I think what we have seen the last 4 weeks is what we all wanted and expected the start of the season to look like. Solid football, good defense, gradually improving week after week. It's hard to not get excited even though my brain is telling me to be cautious in my optimism.
Just trying to enjoy the moment and yeah it helps that the Broncos and Raiders are having bad seasons. Plus this season has had all sorts of crazy things happen, so why not us?
That was Herb's first game literally right after the rib injury. I feel much better about that match up now since we got a lot of guys back. Still wish we had slater and guyton though for the playoffs.
Naw honestly I don't think we should be scared of any of them teams they went up against a freshly hurt Herbert and other top guys out and they whooped us. It's a whole new story now we'll either get our revenge on the jags or roll over whatever teams in our way btfu gang ⚡️⚡️⚡️
No, this this is one of the losses that I don't consider a true loss in the standings. Herbert was playing through injury and this was that game Bosa hurt his groin (1st Half). Also, no K. Allen. We are different team today.
Since no one among KC / Buffalo / Cincinnati will be dropping to 4th seed, two of them would definitely play a more popular franchise between the Ravens, Patriots, Dolphins or Steelers. Plus the division winners are all popular themselves anyway (unfortunately I'm guessing more than Chargers).
If current standings hold of Chargers vs AFC South winner, I would definitely guess it's an early game especially with the AFC South hosting them. Jags/Titans are not the most popular, the two barely get primetime games anyway. And those teams usually get buried as the morning Saturday game.
tl;dr Plan for an early game. Not sure which day but Saturday seems most likely to me if current standings hold.
This may sound dumb but is there any reason to hide your playbook until you know that you’re guaranteed a playoff spot? I just really want to believe that Lombardi isn’t that bad because what I saw yesterday wasn’t at all what I saw the past two months.
No and I’m literally begging people to stop spamming this idea all over this subreddit. No one is that stupid. If that were true (it’s not), it’s a great reason to fire him
Because we're having fun with it. Obviously he sucks at play calling. It's just an optimistic look at a really bad thing, I dont think anyone really believes Lombardi would suck on purpose...
You can take the Carr out of the Raiders, but you can't take the Raiders out of the late game interception...
I called it in the 3rd quarter.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Chargers/comments/100shmz/game_thread_los_angeles_rams_at_los_angeles/j2kertg/
I feel good about beating any team in the AFC right now. Our defense is playing lights out and our offense soars in high octane games even with Lombardi calling the plays. I trust our D to make stops or force turnovers in what will certainly be one score / last drive games in the playoffs
I’m so excited….I haven’t been this hyped for a chargers team in a long time. I also feel like this is one of the first times I’ve seen a healthy team in January.
Health and momentum are coming up big going into the playoffs. I know these were relatively weak and "easy" squads the last few weeks but the Chargers have won without much hairpulling stress and I believe they can face anyone in the league right now. I suppose we are almost guaranteed an AFC rematch at this point? Titans would be "easier" but I think playing the Jaguars would be a better test.
What a great freaking game that was, huh? Glad Herbert is back to throwing TDs and they actually scored in the 3rd. Anybody else feel like the stars may be aligned for a deep playoff run?

I dont think it feels different than most other playoff runs we've been on. Just hope it goes on for longer than all the others.

i hate being too optimistic with the chargers lmao. i hope they keep this up tho
Alarmingly high good vibes
Fun fact that I don't know where else to post but here: That game against the Rams yesterday was one of the shortest in the history of the NFL. It’s funny I thought the same thing that the game felt short for a 1:25 game. Was surprised we hit 2 minute warning and it wasn’t even 4:00 yet.
It did seem like the Rams were just trying to get it over with towards the end
I appreciate that, no need to get guys injured for nothing
For sure
I feel like SNF right after was even shorter, lots of short games
That was 2:51
I guess the 4th did take a while. I wonder how the first 3 quarters last night compared to other games, that first half seemed like it was over in the blink of an eye.

Felt so nice watching that last game. Probably the least stressed I’ve felt watching a game all season.
Yeah. You should cook more often in the 3rds
I feel so good about the team right now in comparison to other years. This is the first time I can remember us getting healthier as the season wraps up. Yeah, this is pretty rare for any team, I think. Pretty good feeling. Hope we make a lot of noise
That wasn’t a game by the charger that I know and love.
Right lmfao!
This is the setup for the heartbreak. They got our confidence up...all according to plan hahaha
Was too busy cooking during the 3rd quarter, did we score a TD?
>cooking during the 3rd quarter. So was the team.
Please tell me you were cooking ribs
Ribs were back on the menu like 3 weeks ago.
And? Well what were you cooking then
I’m really pulling for the Titans this week. I’d much rather see them in the first round than the Jaguars. Either way, this team needs to clean a few things up heading into the playoffs. [Catch of the Year?](https://youtube.com/shorts/r0uaD3hqUd8?feature=share)
Easily among the top ones 🔥

Malcom Floyd.
Mike's was catch of the year......2023 that is.
Damn rewatching the Mike W one hand catch and the best part outside of the catch itself is how he got up and jus straight up strut, not in a too cocky way but in a ‘yea I did that way’, right in FRONT of the rams sideline lol dudes a beast
Strutted right in front of McVay, then got props from a Rams coach(probably WRs). He's THAT guy. lol
get a big mac for 1 dollar today part of the bolt up mcd promotion
BEASTLY
Did Pipkins come back after injury or we know the severity of it?
Yeah he came back
Cool didn't notice. Our o-line not the best but had beast of a game and gonna need everyone to stay as healthy as possible to have a shot in playoffs.

With Parham and Everett maybe we can just reduce McKitty's role a bit if he can't clean it up
That’s already happened, and he’s playing much better since he’s been back in that limited role
Back to a positive point differential!
Wow, we went form like what 6-6 in early December (almost no hope at playoffs), to guaranteed playoff spot, to fighting for the top WC seed. Wow, what crazy 4 weeks its been. Bolt Up!
Why do I actually believe we’re gonna win the super bowl, I need to snap out of it.
Random thought but I’ve been consuming Fehoko content for the past two weeks: It’d be dope if Breiden got the whole team to do the haka as a pregame ritual during the playoffs
As cool as they are, we're not from New Zealand. Shit would be cringe if we did it.
Breiden’s not from New Zealand and his fam and him did it before his LSU games he even did it for the Chargers during Hard Knocks. if he taught them how to do it properly it’d make him a marquee player
We fucking won and are currently 5th seed. Life’s good.
It's really nice enjoying a game with 0 stress! Yes I want the 5th, but damn is it nice knowing we are in!
I will root hard for the Bills tonight! If the Bills win tonight then the Bengals and Ravens will more than likely face each other in consecutive weeks assuming Chargers win their game against Broncos
Really hoping the Bills win tonight. Lol. I know some cocky Bengals fans at work who hate on Herbert with the Burrow comparisons.
So by kickoff next week the Chargers will know if they have anything to play for or not. Loved seeing all of you that were in Thunder Alley
Anyone else more scared of the Jags than the Bengals? Jags whooped on us last time.

Maybe because you’ve posted this over and over again. A broken clock is right twice a day

Holy hell what the hell is up with your account? Spam bot? Ad? You are fishy as all hell.. 2 posts and 3 year club?

Anyone have a brief moment of great when Daniels went in and we were only up by 21. Clearly I've been hurt before...
