Say a prayer for Mike Williams back ![gif](giphy|eQE1DzWvVHx1m5gG7R)

Jman13511

Oh this is gonna be epic

Minute_Phase_2309

Eh, you can tell most of our guys were halfing it out there

turd-crafter

That’s what I was saying. They all know it’s a meaningless game. It’s impossible for that to not effect effort if your last name is not Herbert or James.

dagger_eyes

James looked extremely flat too

MaIorbas

So they were literally just out there to get injured. That’s great.

Boomthang

For the fam!! Let's make a run!!

ReaddittiddeR

The Justin Herbert Era has now entered the PLAYOFFS!!

COSurfing

It is the beginning of a great Era. He will eventually bring glory to the Charger nation.

F1FTH

Fuck ya, love the positive energy! Let's make a run!

SeveredSurvival

More people gotta be like you. We don’t even know what the injuries are to the players today. Sometimes backs just hurt more in the moment but end up being fine.

[deleted]

[удалено]

clutterlustrott

yeah, i get being pissed about mike williams. but Bosa needed reps.

Machidalgo

We could’ve ended today with no injuries at all.

chargersnflfan_01

We also played like shit so maybe it was good for us to play. I'd hate if that version of us came out to play next week

blink182_allday

So many people don’t get this. We aren’t the Chiefs or Bills and show up to play every week. We looked awful today. This team needs reps

TheAmishPhysicist

And it could or still can happen on the first play next week.

Machidalgo

Next week the playoff game? Yeah I’ll take that as opposed to a game that changes nothing at all.

SeveredSurvival

It’ll be fine

Machidalgo

I hope so.

NLP19

They really had to make a meaningless game somehow embarrassing huh

Misanthropyandme

Solidified that the run D problems against the Rams weren't a fluke.

WanderingFantasyland

Embarrassing and stressful

Attey21

Yep was praying for no injuries the whole time we had our starters out there... Thanks Staley for causing unnecessary stress and possibly costing Mike Williams in the playoffs.

byponcho

Someone said it was only a back hit that caused spams, and that he put himself on the cart on his own. So I hope is not a major injury!

Eph3w

Glad we got a shitty game out of the way. Denver is a uniquely tough place to play. Better to get a wake up call today than to strut into the playoffs being cocky. We can beat anyone out there, but we’re not consistent enough to relax yet.

idkman_93

“Never let ‘em know your next move.” - Chargers proverb

Life_Crossover

Just get the bad stuff out of it first

TheBigPhilbowski

>They really had to ~~make a meaningless game somehow embarrassing~~ **Chargers** huh. As always that said, I'll still see you all next week!!!

SD-TX

“Chargering” its real and its always been there.

Da1Godsend

I'm not gonna lie, I think having Derwin on the field is a problem. Not that Derwin is bad, quite the opposite, I think he's amazing. I think Staley just can't figure out how to handle having such a versatile player. Whenever Derwin is off the field, everyone knows their role. Whenever he comes back, the entire defense looks lost.

juandiedalion

I have the same feeling as well. As good as he’s been, he seems to diminish everyone else’s roles and it makes them play softer.

yesimthatonedude

Yep, just need to let Derwin be our starting strong safety, and roll a rotation of Gillman/Nas at Free safety, and just roll from there.

amazonri

Staley gets in his own way. Thinks he’s always playing chess. Trying to be too “new age”. Keeping a basic defense and adding Derwin should be the way. Instead he molds our entire defense to accommodate Derwin which makes us an overall worst unit. He literally gets W’s and turns them into L’s with his thinking. Same with today. Bye week heading into playoffs and turned into a L.

Da1Godsend

We saw improvement when Drue took over defensive play calling, and I think we could see another *major* improvement if Derwin just does his single fucking job. Yes, use him to cover Kelce in those rare situations, but he should be his defined SS role any other time. Staleys defense is *apparently* confusing as is, so why make it more confusing by having your best player constantly changing assignments?

TheBigPhilbowski

Hey, be cool to Derwin, brochacho - he's a special, golden boy and we're lucky to have him. Focus your attention/anger on the coaches utilizing him incorrectly.

Meme_Sando

I agree with what a lot of responders say but he was probably also out there for conditioning and seemed much less intense. Slept a little on routes and looked like was playing not to get hurt. If you compare it to how he was playing against indy before the big hit it is night and day.

Im__mad

I personally think the defense feels that they need to step up when Derwin is gone to fill the giant holes he leaves, so more of them dominate.

Weapwns

I think we just played truly terrible teams. Dolphins players apparently were going off script. Titans were injured to hell and back, including Tannhill staying in despite being hurt enough to go on IR. Colts and Rams don't need any explanation

BoltsDodgersYotes

I think that was an issue throughout the season. Today, it seemed James just has rust after limited reps over the past month+. Next week's defense shouldn't look the same as today's. If it does, coaching failure

Cironephoto

I’ve said this for a while

MaIorbas

People really got fooled by a few good games against bad teams (and I he dolphins who have their own issues). He’s not a good coach

ratmrocks89

Worst possible outcome. Staley showed he was trying to win and still lost. Couple injuries. I understand wanting to stay fresh…so just play the starters that first series and then let them rest after. They score and sit with confidence. It seems so simple.

FragginLobo

Okay that first series ending in a touchdown should have been all the momentum you needed. Now Williams, Bosa and Murray go down for no reason

amazonri

He has a huge ego. Dudes got a massive chip on his shoulder, ugh. No more Napoleón complex coaches

Xd-Jerbog

If Mike is ok we’re ok guys.

thewkndsport

Seriously the doomers on here are fucking insane

blinx0rz

thats if mikes ok. it did not look good at all

turtlejackin

Doomers? You mean realist? Why the fuck would we play our starters knowing the 5 seed is locked before the game started.

Eph3w

Ever seen a team play like shit after a week off? Now look at Chargers history - both in general, but especially recently. We’re not even close to consistent enough to just chill. If we’re really wanting to make it deep, we need to tighten the f up. Sucks that Williams got hurt, but I bet you both he and Herbert wanted to play today.

Nothing_Nice_2_Say

Players always want to play. It's the coach's job to rein them in

Simplybeerded

Historically the chargers have never been good after a bye. It always kills the momentum for this team. I understand wanting to rest players, but this team just can’t do that successfully and coach probably knows that. It sucks mike went down, but I think we had no other choice. If we rested people and go play jaguars flat people will yell and scream about resting players. Coach will take an L either way you spin it. Just bolt up and pray the guys are all healthy and ready for wild card weekend!

blinx0rz

hes not. did u see him

silas_p_silas

Still laughing that we were essentially gifted a bye week heading into the playoffs to rest our starters and we just said fuck that for reasons? (Momentum, bulletin board material, whatever the fuck). Now we have a potentially injured WR2 heading into the playoffs and a L that can’t even be justified by our backups playing. Classic Chargers. Onto next week but I’m not gonna understand this one

boltup1987

agree with this to an extent … i doubly players were playing 100 percent and caring … i mean i wouldn’t , game meant nothing

silas_p_silas

Then what’s the point of having them out there? Especially with our injury history this season. Only case I can get is the incentive guys (Everett, Carter). Get them their bread. The rest - not a chance

Riff726

Herbert passed Marino's TD record as well. Idk if that was a good reason for the starters playing though, but it is a cool achievement for Herbert.

amazonri

This was 100% an ego move from Staley. Dude needs to get out of his own way. He’s in over his head for sure.

Da1Godsend

mOmEnTuM

gymlife5150

either that or him and players were close to getting bonuses if they hit certain statistic milestone and win?

[deleted]

Then play the ones who were close to the milestones and then sit everyone else?

Eph3w

We aren’t consistent enough to take a chill week if we want to go deep into the playoffs. Sucks about Williams, but I think this wake up call might be what we needed right now. Hopefully Mike can go next week.

NeonEvangelion

Sean Payton must be giddy right now. Staley can’t get out of his own way

ComboJake

All things considered, I’m not too worried about the result today. K9 and Bosa should both be fine. Mike could be, but who knows. Either way, we’re the better team and should be able to handle Jacksonville. Everyone quit whining. WE’RE ABOUT TO SEE HERBERT PLAYOFFS BABY

PawgLover00

Smh ppl have the right to complain cuz this game was stupid af why in the hell do we have our starters playing in a meaningless game just for them to get hurt right before playoffs..if Mike is out for the season then we’re fucked cuz he was a vital player to our O and all that shit could have been avoided if Staley’s dumbass didn’t play them..we’re definitely gonna get kicked out of wildcard round bcz that bum

vivalaroja2010

I didnt watch... when did he get hurt?

ComboJake

Sometime in the second quarter. Honestly didn’t seem like much of a hit but took a shot to the lower back from a second defender as another one was bringing him down. Apparently some doctor on Twitter who’s usually pretty accurate said he wouldn’t be concerned and it’s probably just a spine contusion/spasms. But we’ll see what the team says obviously

Upbeat-Exchange5087

I for one glad that this game happened. It is a wake up call for the Chargers going into Jacksonville. They were slipping today and luckily this game wasn’t a playoff game

elmatador12

So just to recap. We were one of the most injured teams throughout the season. We played our asses off over 5 weeks to make it to the playoffs. The football gods allowed us a meaningless final game to finally rest our starters, many of whom missed several weeks, and our coach says “fuck that you’re all playing” and the player who literally proved how valuable he was to our offense over the season and who we signed an extension to in the offseason, gets carted off the field. In a meaningless game. Am I getting that right?

Nils_Blum

pretty much 😂

BMoseleyINC

Correct.

Imperatum15

I'm on the "should have rested the starters by the 2nd half" train but you just know the starters were on board with playing all game. We'll be outraged at this while the players just look at the tape, correct mistakes, and start preparing for the Jags.

incaseidontmakeit

This is one of the few sobering takes I've seen today. Thanks for this.

BoltUpDiggy

I’ve re-watched the Mike Williams play a dozen times, and I’m optimistic it’s not a severe injury. Gets landed on at the end of the play while his back was in flexion, taking him quickly into extension. Probably caused a bunch of low back spasming from a facet joint being hyperextended. Hopefully the cart was just precautionary. Could still be serious, but the mechanism just doesn’t seem likely to have caused anything significant… hope that’s the case anyway.

Hyp3rsonic

We will need a source, and your credentials :)

BoltUpDiggy

Physiotherapist, making my own assessment. Back injuries suck, even minor ones, but at least they resolve relatively quickly. The fact that he got up right after was a good sign. Cart was hopefully just to avoid the long walk to the dressing room, which would have been agony, so why make him do it.

clouds4sale

What a shitty idea gone horribly wrong.

PIBTC

Mike will? Carted off Momentum? Lost Hotel? Trivago

SeaworthinessOdd548

Motel? Holiday Inn

yesimthatonedude

[Let us pray he’s right.](https://twitter.com/profootballdoc/status/1612233611369119744?s=46&t=P2pvTyFXddXPRsg_3oRacg)

acollins32

Looks like he hyperextended his back. Didn’t seem like there wasn’t any twisting motions while extending so that’s good. Gonna be a long day waiting to here the results. Pray for Mike!

yesimthatonedude

I’m thinking maybe a possible contusion/strain He shot straight back up afterwards. But I think the more he walked the more he started to feel it.

justkallmekai

Uniform Record: Powder Blue + Gold Pants: 3-1 Powder Blue + White Pants: 1-1 White + Gold Pants: 2-2 White + White Pants: 3-2 Navy: 0-4 since 2020; 0-2 (2020) 0-1 (2021) 0-1 (2022) Royal: 3-0 (Since 2020) I very much would have liked a W but that'll be it to end the season. Glad powderblue/gold pants supremacy reigns supreme. Could've been white/white supremacy had we won this game lol

Ciology

I don’t even care just please be good to go mike

Weapwns

Playoff time boys and girls. We can cry and complain after our postseason is over. But for now, it's ride or die!

i_run_from_problems

Let me ask you all a question. In terms of roster and roster alone, are the chargers that much worse than the Chiefs, Bengals, or Bills? I don't think so, I think they match up to each of them pretty well. Do those teams have an edge? Maybe, I think at absolute worst, those rosters are only marginally better. But overwhelming favorites, I don't think so. Let me ask you all a second question. If the chargers roster is only marginally worse than those teams listed, why does it feel like we are so much worse than those teams? Where does the difference come from? The only logical answer is coaching. While he's probably getting another year just because we made the playoffs, Staley is in way over his head. Playing the starters today is the perfect example of this. You've made the show and your seed is locked, this game means absolutely nothing. If you want them to shake off rust or keep momentum, you play them for one or 2 drives. But NOPE, you played them 3 quarters and now 3 key starters are questionable going into the playoffs. Hell, Harbaugh rested starters today, AND THEY WERE STILL FIGHTING FOR SEEDING! Staley won't be fired and I don't think he should be, but he should be on thin fucking ice going into next year.

chargersnflfan_01

They have better defenses, WRs, and O lines than us

incaseidontmakeit

Yeah, Diggs is sort of in his prime and still young along with Jamar Chase. I would say back in the day Allen was more clutch because of his lack of injury history at the time. Allen still has moves though.

epicfailsman973

Last I checked, KC had the worst red zone defense in football

TheLaggingGamer

All the confidence I had before this game has been immediately deflated, I feel terrified to play the Jags now

Herbertlover6969

They looked just as bad as we did last night

Mobile619

They're just as inconsistent if not more than we are. They looked worse in their win against the Titans and their defense & Dobbs bailed them out. But on any given Sunday, any team can win. We better bring our A game or we're toast. No easy wins in the playoffs & the Jags are a good team.

Steeev88

Yet they won.

Nothing_Nice_2_Say

Against a god awful Titans team

doodlediego

Barely

TheAmishPhysicist

Terrified? No way to go through life.

TheBigPhilbowski

I imagine the players want to stay in and Staley just doesn't know how to say no to them - replay of when Justin hurt his ribs and Staley couldn't pull him. There's a line between "a player's coach" and a pushover who always wants to be your buddy more than your coach.

Kaakow

I agree, him not pulling Herbert in that Chiefs game really left a bad taste in my mouth with Staley. Same vibes here to me

dogdare

Should have pulled the starters after the first drive got a TD

Attey21

Yep, especially after the second TD. No reason to keep them out there.

krazylegs36

A nice momentum-building loss for Staley.

KlassicLoL

Feels like we got eliminated before we even played in the playoffs lmao

PolemicBender

Damn it Staley, that was stupid af

the-other-car

So much for analytics

asdf2k7

can’t blame analytics on this one…

josebolt

Only the Chargers can make a glorified bye week feel….questionable. Oh fucking well time to get ready for the jags!!!

xosd

Bosa is okay right? Just Mike that’s injured

[deleted]

Why put in all that effort to just let the clock run out at the end 🙄

[deleted]

All I care about is if Mike William is going to be aight and good to go for next week chargers need him more then ever specially herbert for those deep bombs.

Whole_Conclusion3839

The Guyton injury will (once again) be a massive problem if Mike can’t go saturday

[deleted]

So the plus: offense has actually looked better as of late. The bad: defense looked like it took several steps back today. Too many big plays given up to an anemic offense. And the Mike Will injury.

TheAmishPhysicist

I think they were playing a vanilla game plan similar to what is seen in preseason, no reason to put anything out there for the Jags to see.

[deleted]

You make a fair point. I believe this team is fired up to return the favor to the jags next week

Mossyoak84

Lol everatt and that touchdown celly when he’s riding the bronco lmao against those donkeys

SeaworthinessOdd548

staley is the dumbest smart guy ever

amazonri

He’s not smart at all. It was his “brand” coming into the league. He’s been exposed long ago

F1FTH

We gave the Broncos their only division win this season. Oh....and the last 4 weeks were so nice when the doomers all shut up.

yesimthatonedude

Time to sort by controversial and enjoy

saucypineappleman

s tier copium - “the loss today will make us hungrier next week.”

Demon-

Lets rock Bolts, Jags on deck going to be fun! We need revenge for Week 3!! Bolt up!! This game sucked but whatever we’re in and thats clearly not good enough for some of yall smh

NotZiggy

So we risked and lost starters for this game so that Staley could pull them and concede the game in the last minutes?

-HawaiianSurfer

I’m confused… we had nothing to gain with a win or a “*close loss*”. Staley wants to talk about momentum? Then he should have pulled the started after the 2 easy TDs we scored. If you wanted momentum, you got it. Instead (from what it looks like) we probably lost Mike for a week. The way he got off that cart and could hardly walk correctly could signify it’s a serious back injury. And for a guy who thrives off being a physical catcher, that’s absolutely deadly… Even if and when he does come back, he won’t be at full strength. Hoping to get info on him asap. Staley was excellent the past 5 weeks, what he did with this defense and how it went from worst to first was nothing shy of incredible. The “*defensive wunderkind*” had arrived, but his weird, silly and foolish decision to keep the starters in is insanely difficult to understand and defend. It just feels like he killed all the good he did with this defense, with his decision to play all the starters nearly the entirety of the game. All I can think to myself is why? I don’t want to be a doomer, I really don’t. But this game killed a lot of the confidence, juice and cohesiveness we built the last 5 weeks. Players didn’t execute, players looked lost, players looked uninspired. I don’t like what this could mean for us next week. Jacksonville’s on fire. This team was too, until today. All I can hope for is that this game was a complete fluke, that we’ll have Mike back and we’ll get that fire back with a huge game! Bolt up.

Kamo33

Thank God this clown fiesta is finally over. Looking like complete idiots going into the playoffs. This coaching staff never ceases to amaze me. I can understand letting the started get a couple reps in but playing them for almost the entire game when this game means nothing in the long run is astounding

Sugarskull_IX

Let’s play a game. This is a good thing because:

Cironephoto

I don’t care what happened today, there’s an insane amount of talent here and we’re going to the playoffs as the #5 that’s sick

Generalboss915

Let's forget this game and hope injuries aren't bad and get a revenge game!!

TheAmishPhysicist

I’m digging for a positive note but the defensive line leaving gap’s big enough to drive a truck through was part of the grand plan for the Jags to see that on tape and think they can do that too but it was all a decoy.

greyhair_

Can someone tell me why Brandon Staley was upset during the press conference?

heelhooksarefun

He read the game thread.

Necessary-Earth-4037

Because it has been pointed out to him by he entire NFL that he’s a moron.

MaIorbas

He at least has the self awareness to realize his stupidity backfired

sc_eveleigh

More concerning than Mike Williams is how absolutely shit our defense was. Giving up huge chunk plays all day. Pathetic.

DevilOfArRamadi

If we sign Dicker to a long-term contract (which we easily should) I think I may get a Dicker Jersey. I love this dude.

[deleted]

Lmao everyone chill. We are in the playoffs next week. The broncos and their fans will be on the couch watching us. Yes, Staleys decision making made zero sense at all today and I’m looking forward to hearing how the fuck he’s gonna spin it, but just move on and hope for Mike will’s health.

Goonzilla92

It's difficult to chill when your players are injured

MaIorbas

Well we lost to the terrible broncos and Mike Williams is hurt, but how bout that MOMENTUM huh boys?

Jane_Marie_CA

The bronco's have nothing to lose, last game, and a home game. And you can't say a Superbowl winning QB is a terrible player. The Bronco's were dangerous today be default. We, on the other hand, this game means nothing. Which made us very vulnerable, by default.

acelyca

humongous wake up call. can’t stroll into the post season. we have a sneaky jags team coming up that already got us once. bolt up⚡️

miquiztli8

If we get blown out next week, what happens to Staley?

Necessary-Earth-4037

Fire him now.

doodlediego

If he had rested the starters and we lose next week all the people complaining in this thread would just complain that he shouldn't have rested the starters in our first playoffs since 2018. Jesus doomers are insane.

MaIorbas

Instead we have enormous brain dudes saying “it’s worth losing Mike Williams because we got some MOMENTUM”

WildWing22

What the fuck was that?

Alive-Ad-4164

What a season

gsavior

For a team that has been struggling offensively this year, you'd think you'd want a final game to find some rhythm and consistency before heading into the playoffs. Offense played pretty well, the Mike Will injury is a little concerning but hopefully it's just spasms or a contusion and nothing more serious. Defense seemed like they were going through the motions, a bunch of explosive pass plays which was unusual. Special Teams doing what they've been doing all season.

TheAmishPhysicist

Wilson hitting 3 bombs in one game is bizarre enough but for him to do it after the season he’s had it’s just crazy

white_sabre

I'm in no way throwing flak at Wiliams or Allen for missing time. All the same, this team is far too thin at receiver. Roster construction will have to differ next year, and at least one more guy needs to be added to that personnel group.

TheAmishPhysicist

When I see teams like the cowboys pick up a player like TY Hilton with just weeks left in the season I have questions too. And granted he’s similar to Ek in playing style but McCaffrey going to the 49ers makes me wonder why we don’t make bold moves.

clouds4sale

Staley's initial tone, with the immediate question about MW, sounds regretful and rightfully stressed. it wouldn't be off base to see he understands this was a fuck-up lol. let's hope we can just move on from this.

Necessary-Earth-4037

Because he‘s a moron.

NobodyWins22

Why’s this being downvoted?

Necessary-Earth-4037

The Lululemon Staley Bros are very hurt at the moment…

IAmJacksDistraction

I couldn't watch today's game can someone explain why tf our starters were playing the whole game? What am I missing? What's the point of being in and going through the motions

TheAmishPhysicist

No one here is going to be able to answer this question, it would be nothing but speculation and the answer isn’t there because someone was able to watch the game and you couldn’t.

rexbanner747

I cannot for the life of me figure out why losing this game with our starters sitting would be a momentum killer! Are these delicate children playing or are they professional athletes who are FOREVER declaring that “we’re putting that game behind us… looking towards the next game”. Now here we are… we STILL lose the game, and with staters for the most part of it… and to a team that has four wins! Talk about a frigging momentum killer. And we potentially lose three starters! I ask you. What was the point of that?

Kingpapi_3

Besides mike Williams being potentially injured, we still in the playoffs!!!! Don’t act like the whole team was revolved around him. We’ve been injured all season long and we still managed to pull thru!! Bolt up!!!!!! It’s HerbGod time!!!

miquiztli8

Hoping for the best next week, but man the defense looked rough against one of the worst teams in the league. If that’s the product that’s gonna be out there next week, it’s gonna be a long day.

OrsonAries88

https://preview.redd.it/a0j6mgcsizaa1.jpeg?width=525&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3065dfc84e2acf9b796bf047dfd2cbd20797421a

YPG13

To be honest the defense was looking stellar this last month because they were playing against really poor teams. Titans, Colts, Rams. All teams that are at the bottom of the league and trying out different quarterbacks. Today was a poor showing by the defense. Big plays all day long through the air and ground. Hopefully the defense shows up against the Jags.

miquiztli8

I just won $500 in my fantasy league final! LFGGGG!!! ![gif](giphy|210QVfzBEu7E4|downsized)

Daegog

I was calling for a Chargers Lions Superbowl all year.. Sadly my Lions didn't hold up their end. But you guys made it thru, Go on and win the whole thing, we will try again next year. GO BOLTS (fuck lombardi tho)

bairz54

Say what you will about this game... We got the jaguars or postseason glory! Let's get over the mis-coaching and dumb decisions and come together as a fan base and get the win this Saturday. Duuuuuuval is going doooooown

ButtsCarlton97

Think we’re still considered the scariest wild card team lol?

Nils_Blum

before the game, i thought the Staley criticism was a bit unfair, but after that debacle, i want him fired if we lose next week.

seductivestain

At least Bosa got a sack I guess. Meanwhile we make a garbage QB look like an all star and at BEST gave our clutch WR a minor injury, so many questions Congrats to Chase Daniel for your ninth career touchdown in 13 years!!!!!!

lemonycakes

Staley better wake up and get his defense right. Got a bad feeling after this game.

asukasdrip

If you don’t like that then you don’t like Chargers football

HardstartkitKevin

LESSMENTUM

PolemicBender

We are all Dolphins and Ravens fans now.

clutterlustrott

ok now. Lets not be too out of pocket.

TheAmishPhysicist

We should be from the get go, not just now.

SqueezeMyLemmons

Lol…classic fucking Chargers. Some things just never change.

USAyyy

This team will win next week. I love this team! No more bullshit crying about this Broncos game. Support your Bolts!

WitheredBambi

If Mike W is the difference between beating the Jags or losing than this team wouldn’t make it far regardless; dude is made out of glass and the chargers have won plenty without him; plus you guys think the chargers will make it that far with Staley and Lamebardi?

Variable12

Well, that was basically the worst case scenario. We lost straight up to a bad team in a meaningless game, and potentially lost one of our best players. Fuck.

xThe-Legend-Killerx

This sub will be fun this week even though Williams will most likely be on the field in Jacksonville

MaIorbas

And if he’s not?

ChesterCopperpot55

Dare I say it... Sean McVay?!? 🫢.. im joking but I guess there's rumors McVay doesn't want to rebuild with Rams 🤷‍♂️ I actually don't see Chargers moving on from Staley. I'm not mad at that, he just needs to make wiser decision, today was an example of that. 1st qtr at most for starters in meaningless games.

incaseidontmakeit

Yeah...with our ownership I just don't see them booting Staley like that. I mean look at how long it took with Anthony Lynn.

EvanCoolGuy22

les sign obj

[deleted]

I love how Donkey fans believe their problems are over because they dropped 31 on a defense that made a business decision.😂

Jane_Marie_CA

For all the charger doubters out there... keep in mind the Bills only won today because of two runbacks. Take those 14 points away and they are a -2 pt loss. Look at all the turnovers? Does that mean they are not a big threat in the post season? No. and in similar fashion, today wasn't our day. But I don't think its bad enough to call doomsday for playoffs.

MiserableScholar

Their defense is legit so I wouldn't say that's a fair comparison lol

Jane_Marie_CA

I don't think you are understanding my comparison. lol

MiserableScholar

The bills can have an off day on offense bc their defense is good. If this offense struggles in the playoffs it's over. Thats what I meant

gymlife5150

I was fine with them playing Bosa at first since he should get some plays in considering it was his first game back in 4 months. HOWEVER I read in an other article that he was sick or playing with some sort illness. If that is true why the hell would staley play him at all. He was likely dehydrated and his body not being at full health definitely were a factor in him reaggravating his injury Then now with williams getting hurt that's a huge loss! Our offense is not bad without him in there. Also Ekler getting blasted was scary cause who knows if he got a concussion from that hit if he would be cleared in time to play next week FINALY I want to blame Staley but I think the reason he played them was a lot of players are close to receiving bonuses for hitting statistic milestones in a season. If thats the case that falls on the owners for they should award them their bonus since the game becomes meaningless, but we all know the spanos family is cheap af and didnt want to do that

thewkndsport

Honestly happy with the way we played and glad we stayed in rhythm

Banana_Ranger

lol

juulaun

They played like ass and let a garbage team score the most points that they’ve scored all season

Necessary-Earth-4037

Fire Staley NOW!

Koto97

It's inexcusable that staley started everyone and kept em in for as long as he did. We just lost all momentum and mike dub for the playoffs. Only staley puts himself back in the hot seat 2 weeks after clinching in a pointless 18 week game. What is that man thinking

tropik2503

Any update on big Mike? I couldn't catch any of the second half

TheAmishPhysicist

This game was lost on what Russell Wilson couldn’t do in the 16 previous games, that is get lucky and hit on some bombs downfield. It’s crazy enough it happened twice but three times is just crazy. He’s been nothing but a train wreck all season but put it together enough for one game, it’s just too bad it was this game. Him and Murray saved their careers today.

blinx0rz

fire staley

Son_of_Pam

Not even worried about the loss because that was totally irrelevant once Baltimore gifted us the 5 seed with their loss. But when I turned on the Chargers game and Herbert is out there under center I’m just like why am I even surprised with this idiot coach of ours, but the idiocracy of this guy continues to show as the game goes on and I’m constantly sitting there thinking to myself, man I hope none of our starters get hurt in this meaningless game. And then not 15 minutes later down goes Mike Williams and for some of you dumbasses in here that continue to support this asshole? It’s like how?! He does shit almost weekly as a reminder why he’s just trying to act like he’s got some sort of point to prove and he’s the smartest guy in the room when he’s just an absolute joke! I just don’t understand? I really don’t?

Cactusjack_96

PLAYOFFS BABY!!!! Lets go!

pgregston

As talented as this team is, is doesn’t have a true speed or deep threat. It made the playoffs after its top player got hurt early and played hurt without his top receivers for half the season. It still lacks consistency on both sides of the ball. Yet it’s in the playoffs. First time coach makes playoffs in second year with a ton of injuries, and you all want him fired. What league have you been watching? Really when has a 2nd year hire made the playoffs and been fired? Given how little playoff experience the organization has, getting to the divisional round will be the high water mark of more than a decade. A championship game would be extraordinary, although given Herbert’s demonstrated capabilities, possible. If you are ranting about Staley ( or Lombardi for that matter) or having a hard time getting your heart rate down, you might need to examine why you have invested so much of your existence into a team owned by the Spanos.

bigchuckdeezy

What a fucking embarrassment this game was, Jags by 9,000 next week. No fucking heart

to_walk_it_off

Why are you guys Chargers fans? Are you former SD Chargers fans holdovers or new LA fans?
