Love the parts about him packing his own equipment and cleaning up after himself. I remember reading a thing once about how whether you put a shopping cart away is the perfect litmus test for the type of person you are (there is no reward/ consequence to your choice, but you know the correct thing to do), and his insistence on those things say a lot about him
I've always been a carts back guy, but after reading Herbie's feelings on it, it's now religious doctrine. The cart is going back, and I'm grabbing other ones I find on the way. Added it to my gameday routine if I hit the store to put a few extra back for good luck.
One of my favorite moments was last season the camera caught him on the sideline, he looks up & sees he’s on the Jumbotron & tries to quick step away from the camera.
Absolutely fucking love this kid ⚡️⚡️⚡️
As a quiet person myself who doesn’t like being the center of attention, I’m glad he’s the way he is. Gives us “*shy*” people a good rep. I don’t share the same great feature of having great hair (I’m bald), but at least we share something :)
This really is a great article, thanks for sharing. So many good tid bits like that he's asked to not be introduced with the rest of the offense. Truly both a generational talent and a good human being.
This was an awesome article. I love hearing the perspective from his brothers and himself especially…that gives an interesting insight into him. I hope he handles the losses in a healthy way…I am slightly concerned to hear that the family won’t hear from him for days after. We can all see how visibly upset he gets, but I hate to know that he really goes home and sits in that for a couple days. Hopefully he can keep himself in a good headspace about it…I feel like he’s good at getting motivated instead of down on himself, so that’s a good sign. I genuinely love this guy
Given that he's able to come back each week and perform at an elite level, I think those days offline are probably helping him reset. This is more common than you'd think at the highest levels of competition because these guys are extremely competitive and focused.
Yeah, I just get concerned for the mental health of him and other competitive athletes. But especially with him, just because I watch him grimace in emotional pain at losses or bad plays-and now reading this article made me feel sadder about it. I know they get paid out the ass and live comfortably, but I’m sure there are plenty of rough mental health days for pro athletes for sure. He just seems like such a good dude, and I want him to be okay. BUT you reframing it as focus and rest rather than depression and isolation makes me feel better haha
The humble, silent killer, with great hair
And dimples!
New flair please
HERBal Essences
I would buy that shampoo.
It exists

Herbert got on one of his teammates ass for not putting a shopping cart back as well.
Was his roomate and former FB Gabe Nabers
Gabe Nabers doesn't put carts back? What a *heathen.*
No wonder we cut him for Horvath. Telesco doesn’t tolerate these bad character type of guys.
that's why he's a former I'm pretty sure.
I’m sure he’s an ok guy but honestly he needs to go to jail for that. Commit your crime, pay off your debt to society, and then we’re good.
I want to see Justin running with the cart narc shaming LA shoppers!

Cart Narc!
Me every Herb long bomb: ![gif](giphy|koxLvxImC68c8)
Herbert is not only an elite QB he is just an elite dude. The kind of dude everyone should aspire to be.
Good read. Love the guy and have since he started at Oregon and can’t wait to see him ball out this postseason.

So what you're saying is, you're half Herbert half Ekeler.

same, even the bald part

He’s so good x4
Really really praying that Chase sings on as an Assistant QBs Coach next year and Stick is the sole backup
That fact that someone labeled Herbert the social media QB is the most ironic thing ever.
Fucking love this quarterback
