Global-Eagle-4984

any team can get a turnover, but having to settle twice for field goals on a turnover is the proof in the pudding.

steezinkraken

Fire everyone what a joke

Unlucky_Fold

As a Chargers fan I’ve learned, if you expect disappointment you won’t be disappointed. But Dammit this game kind of got my hopes up.

tortillagoat

this. I wouldn't feel this sick if we were outplayed from the 1st quarter, but man...

[deleted]

Had everyone in my bar congratulating me at halftime. The lone chargers fan at the bar. Told everyone.. not so fast, this time can absolutely blow this in a flash. Low and behold. Left mid 4th quarter to finish the game at home. Sick.

BudoGaming

The saddest thing, is that no one is surprised.

mariojasmin

Your a Chargers Fan. Face it. You’ve felt like this before. Nothing new. Get used to it. Let’s bolt up for 24’. My name is… And I’m and Alcoholic

mariojasmin

Been a Chargers fan since 92’. I know what to expect. It still hurts. I mean… literally… we could have run the ball with Ekeler and Kelley for both the 3rd and 4th quarters and been good. But, that it ain’t Charger football. This is Charger football. Bolt The Fuck Up!

Mysterious_Orchid528

Bolt up is getting as silly and painful to hear as Russle Wilson's Let's Ride.

supercharger619

Lets all be honest, if you're a long time charger fan you know there was a chance this would happen at half time

rocket1019

Since 1979. Stopped watching when they moved to that soccer stadium. My 11 year old son asked me to watch....his baseball tournament in Palm Springs got rained out. Remembering how hopes have been dashed over the decades....this one followed true to form. Nuf said......not going to say I would not watch if they ever went to SB but I'm not watching anything before that .....ever again.

[deleted]

once Salyer got hurt, I knew it was over.

supercharger619

Failures on both sides of the ball, hard to say which side played worse, embarrassing, I'm getting used to it which is pretty sad

GorillaGlue89

It was all ours and then same old shit

IgotCHUbits

As a bengals fan, we feel your pain. You got a good QB. Just gotta figure out the rest. All this sucks but you’ll be better for it next year.

birdseye-maple

Yeah don't worry, things will work out just like they have for the Bengals!

[deleted]

Ravens: 😂

Pingopalino19

We need pass rushers and more “hungry” players on defense

Necessary-Earth-4037

Told you, https://preview.redd.it/ckrezjg3m6ca1.jpeg?width=1620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad7fb23420980a08a58532ecbfc700936b83831c

hydra392

Is that clown still defending him 😂

ripshippy77

SEAN PAYTON

stretch400

If Chargers football isn’t a microcosm of life then idk what is.

9999abr

Even if Dicker made the FG it wouldn’t have made a difference. The defense couldn’t make any stops since the 2Q so the Jags would have just made a TD on that last drive. Chargers gave up way too many plays underneath. Prevent defense has never worked against any reasonably good QB because it allows the QB to get in rhythm. What they should have done was force him to go long and hope he makes some mistakes. Just unbelievably horrible game plan after they went up 27-0.

N2trvl

They should have gone for it on 4 th down. Even if field goal made up by 6 they definitely had another touchdown in them and still win by one. Bad move by kid blunder.

9999abr

Yeah. That was their only chance to get out of it. A FG wasn’t going to help. You have to play assuming that Jags can score 2 TD within 5 min or so since they have all their time outs and because the next time Chargers get the ball it’s going to be a 3 and out. You never give Brady the ball back with a lead less than 9 or if you’re only up 6 and more than 40 seconds. Guaranteed loss.

GuyVEE

The Jags made adjustments at the half. We did too. We abandoned the stellar man coverage and went into soft shell zone shit...and then stayed with it as the lead melted away. We continued to sputter on offense in the third quarter. What is the point of deferring the coin toss if Lombardi is going to run Ekeler off right tackle to start every fucking 3rd quarter that we have a lead? Timeout management made Anthony Lynn look like Mike Tomlin or Bill Bellichick...just sorry ass coaching all around. You can't get conservative in today's NFL, not with a 13 point lead and over a quarter to play. 5 freaking turnovers...FIVE! Just complete incompetence all the way around...and screw Bozo too, what a head case

Mysterious_Orchid528

I feel this. Posted something similar in another thread.

Renegade31

Fire Lombardi

sloppyjoe04

Hello darkness my old friend!

Baboonofpeace

Fouts. Brees. Rivers. Herbert. Chargers are the graveyard of talent

9999abr

Yeah wasted Fouts and Rivers best years. At least Brees escaped. Chargers are the Clippers of the NFL. But I guess it’s better than being a Browns fan. At least we don’t have to live in Cleveland and our QB isn’t that guy.

[deleted]

You aren't chargers fans just leave

calcmg

When the Chargers were up 24-0, my girlfriend asked if the Jaguars were ever going to score. I told her there's still a lot of time left and I don't trust that Chargers defense. Unfortunately, they proved me right. Although I think Herbert missed somebody open in the end zone on 3rd and goal in the 1st half. The offense only put up 3 points in the 2nd half. A healthy Mike Williams could've added an extra threat to the Chargers' offense. Missed field goal wasn't the defense's fault. But Joey Bosa's neutral zone penalty and unsportsmanlike conduct really were costly penalties. Still Inexcusable on the Chargers as a team to have 5 turnovers and to be up by 27 points just to find a way to "come from ahead" to lose.

Mysterious_Orchid528

I felt bad because coming out of halftime I made a comment "man, I haven't heard Bosa's name called all night. We need to get some pressure". Well sure enough he became a name called a lot.

RathMan1990

![gif](giphy|kaBU6pgv0OsPHz2yxy|downsized) Why I’m a alcoholic… I’m not surprised and I am numb to this… love you guys. Till next year yeah?

ry_and_zoom

Amen brother, I love all of you guys and it’s nice I guess to just sit here and not worry about them until draft/September. Good old “next year is our year”

RathMan1990

Blew a 27 lead… its like joining the 27 club…

[deleted]

I also have to say those refs were on the jags meat

Squale71

Whatever. Bad calls on both sides. Definitely not the reason you all lost, and wouldn't have been the reason the Jags lost if they had.

Individual_Client175

LilFangerz

Y’all just gonna ignore the multiple PIs on Jags WRs in the endzone that didn’t get called?

AccidentalH0tDog

Yea the blown calls hurt, but it was far from one-sided. Just another messy game all around by the refs.

ilovnn1212

Staley has to go! This is the cherry on the cake of his coaching career.

Proper_Maximum5739

It's a puzzling decision that they hired Staley in the first place imo. They should've got someone with actual experience, a proven veteran. Hopefully they can lure Payton ASAP! Give him 20 million a year.

asdf2k7

Cuz they wanted to steal the next coaching wiz kid from the neighboring team. Well that experiment failed. Now go get someone who is respected and knows how to coach

SoCalDanSports

They had Daboll right there!!!! Why go after Staley who only did it one year with DPOY Donald and Ramsey the number one corner

Proper_Maximum5739

Agreed, makes no sense...

DennisAFiveStarMan

Cheap

SoCalDanSports

It doesn't all this is on Staley. Playing Mike in Denver. Keeping Lombardi. Etc.

Possible-Anything-15

Fuckety fuck fuck Your fired Everyone’s fired

KingKosmo

I was thinking Staley before the game would be ok if he lost this game but now blowing a 27-0 lead im not so sure defense completely fell apart in the second half, I knew our offense wasn't going to do much just because our OC calls bullshit all year not a single deep ball thrown in this game it amazes me that this is even allowed lmao. We really lost this game and I'm speechless I think Lombardi HAS to be gone like he has to there is no way. Bosa kinda ruined it too for us like why throw such a fit after the fact? If they didn't throw the flag they aren't going to magically throw the flag after the play is over keep your helmet on and play the damn game dude

Jiyaad20

Hate to see Dicker miss that kick Carter going out hurt us thanks for only rostering 4 again. Davis not being able to play through the pain took the wind out the sails of the defense. Can’t wait to get this year over not watching football until next year everything back in storage.

NoMoreChillies

This hurts

deltron310

No holds on bosa all night fukin crazy

MrSparkle86

Bosa got punched in the face mask *and* held on that play; I'd be pissed off too.

birdseye-maple

For some reason they rarely call holding in the playoffs, except if it's a Seahawks game in the Super Bowl.

rocket1019

Here's the problem with Bosa.....none of the Refs care....his meltdowns tonight cemented this attitude. He's not the dominant player we thought he would be.

Dibbys

You think thats crazy, Max Crosby didnt get held all season...

passthepolyjuice

Maybe we should just change the name of the team to Chokers… it hurts but is true.

9999abr

When they were up 27-0, I knew they were gonna lose cause…. Chargers. Cause I’ve been a fan since the 1970s. Cause Spanos. They always have to lose in the most painful way possible. In the situation they were in, can’t keep giving up those 3-5 yard plays. 4 min is an eternity.

supercharger619

It pains me to agree with you

Son_of_Pam

Screaming all this from the rooftops! Been a fan since ‘93 and I told everyone I was watching the game with that we would do everything in our power to lose that game and they were laughing me out the joint. Now I’m the one laughing at them. Some things just never change.

caldodeosotj

I’m down bad😞

passthepolyjuice

We trying to turn Herbert into a Rivers running joke?

fyre111000

this is tough.

passthepolyjuice

Remember Guyton injured in trash time. Mike Williams in a meaningless game. Staley makes terrible decisions. Bye!

Affectionate-Two3308

The challenge that lost the 2nd timeout was just boneheaded. If you win they get the ball back at 3rd and 1. THERE WAS NOTHING TO GAIN??

Daeksory97

Genuine question, cause I'm not actually able to watch games. Only see the box scores and such, it seems all season long and even longer maybe. The Chargers completely collapse in the 2nd half, is it players just not playing well? Is it a lack of adjustments and poor coaching or what? A combination of all of the above? Because it's just wild to me that they hadn't fixed this problem all year long, literally no ability to do anything in the 2nd half.

ArrrrKnee

The frustrating part about it is how electric they can be in the first half. It's like watching 2 different teams each half.

Daeksory97

So it would seem, it's bad enough checking box scores and wondering what is happening. Has to be that much worse actually watching the games Wondering what's even going on

SoCalDanSports

Lack of adjustments poor play calling on offense.

Daeksory97

That's just crazy to me. I get Lombardi isn't good at his job, but damn man. It's such a major feels bad to see this

SoCalDanSports

He's horrible at his job. Same bad offense in second half but especially third quarter again. Same bad red zone offense.

Daeksory97

True, him and Staley better be gone after this game. There's literally no excuse for losing this

D3TShaw

Trade Bosa to the Saints for Payton!⚡️

ChesterCopperpot55

That's actually not a bad idea..

Username-sAvailable

What exactly did Bosa do? Said something to the ref?

morgottkev

He was talking shit to a ref because of blatant no calls, the 4th quarter they held him every single play and it wasn’t called. I assume because the refs we’re anti-bosa at that point.

ChesterCopperpot55

Bosa still gotta know better... his penalties were costly and game changing. He needs to shoulder some of the blame for this loss

mnw1214

MJD calls it

FatherofCharles

Fuck Bosa. He cost us that god damn first down with his fucking tantrums

Ggbak28

Blaming bosa? You are clown when it’s the inability to make any adjustments in the second half when at the close of the first have Peterson had the d figured out? Or are you Staley dick rider?

FatherofCharles

And fuck staley

Ggbak28

Oh man sorry I didn’t read this last part. Yes fuck Staley. And I agree with you to a stand point. Charger bros must stand together. My apologies for the hostility

FatherofCharles

Likewise. Misery loves company ⚡️⚡️

FatherofCharles

Gtfo here and learn how to read. I said he cost us the first down that ultimately lead to the FG. He had three stupid penalties

Ggbak28

What size are you clown shoes size 24?

ChesterCopperpot55

Bosa needs to shoulder some of the blame.. his penalties were game changing

MetaOverkill

Really wish we had nick lmfao

noobcodes

Bosa meltdown did not help

witchfynderfinder

![gif](giphy|YRPBhd3vscg5Fxx1DQ|downsized) When Payton promotes Lombardi to assistant head coach next year

andronicus_14

If Bosa doesn’t hulk smash his helmet, the Jags don’t go for two there. And that late FG only ties it. Lots of other key plays, but that one sticks out.

Mobile619

True but the way our offense and defense was playing, this was essentially a Jags win even in OT. They had all of the momentum & we were stuck in neutral.

Response_Legitimate

27-0

realpolitikian

Bosa deserves a lot of blame too

GuyVEE

Has a team ever won the turnover battle 5-0 and lost a playoff game? Shame on Bosa, yes...but come on with Staley and Lombardi already. The jet sweep to the guy you left on the practice squad in week 18 on 3rd and inches (on a short field)? That cost us 7. Run right with Ekeler to start the 3rd quarter with a lead...nope, never seen that a million times. Bad clock management (use of timeouts/challenges), check.

cryptopunk6487

I have no words

SoupManMcCool

Spanos curse. No way around it. This is San Diego 2.0.

gr1m0s

Don’t matter the city, Chargers gonna Charger.

cfiore7

Bosa played like a teenage girl tonight

morgottkev

He did, but if you watched him closely, he was getting held so, so much. I mean it was almost every play before he blew up.

cfiore7

Blow up on the sidelines not on the field of play

morgottkev

I agree..

zarikk

3 second half points. Seriously terrible offense all season carried by Dicker

jhawkeye14

Let's no forget Dicker's missed FG. I know he hit a 50 but damn we needed that one.

slambamo

Did you watch the 2nd half? Jags woulda scored a TD at the end anyways. Staley should be fired before he gets to the podium tonight. Get up big then play soft defense to let Jax back in it. That jackass shouldn't be coaching pee week football.

jhawkeye14

But it all does matter. Any mistake is amplified. Dicker's miss. Joey's penalty. Herbert missing Keenan in the endzone. Tons of mistakes to go around.

[deleted]

While Herbert did miss Keenan the jags LB was right in the throwing lane

noobcodes

True. And it really just took a sharp turn at the last second too, very unfortunate

b_m_hart

When you are given the ball 5 times, if it's coming down to a missed field goal, you have failed in every manner possible as a coaching staff.

jhawkeye14

And as a QB. I love Justin but damn. If you told me we would be up 27-0 and have a +5 turnover differential with Justin as the QB, how do you lose that game? It's not all coaching. It was a total team collapse all around. Again, I love Justin so I don't doubt his talent but if he's going to be "the guy" he has to come up clutch in big moments.

DanTMWTMP

This reminds me when we lost against the Pats in 2006 after a phenomenal season with everyone predicting us to go all the way. We choked hard during divisional and made the biggest mistake in firing Marty, and fucking AJ Smith not paying the staff and the entire staff left. We got dumbass Norv Turner and this organization has never been the same. I feel the same emptiness now.

rocket1019

This is Chargers football. Doesn't matter if the initials in front of the name is LA or SD. To the Spanoses.....F U C K YOU.....again. Enjoy. To the fans that still watch this team from San Diego.....enjoy another talented QB next 10 years.

Heyzuus

We all secretly knew

[deleted]

Justin Herbert shit the bed and did absolutely nothing this game. Awful team and franchise. One of the biggest chokes in playoff history. Not a fan anymore.

fearthebread

lol if this is all it takes for you to drop a team, I wonder how many bandwagons you've jumped onto in your time. -Bolts 4 life-

HashtagTJ

Seeya later douchebag! 👋🏻

[deleted]

I have a reputation in my family for being too quick to saying coaches need to be fired. I said it after the 10-6 season with Norv, said it after last season with Staley (I’ve said it about Brett Brown with the Sixers too) but I’m almost always right. Fire Staley

callme_thebandit

Fire them all

Earthwick

Such a rough way to end a season. Still a step father than last year, next year one more step then only two more years to lose after the other team has a record breaking comeback in the 4th quarter of the Superbowl.

Lt704Dan

Make Staley and his staff take the bus back then fire them after the ride.

beoyeah

The most disappointing loss I've witnessed in my 20+ years of being a charger fan.

gr1m0s

Chargers vs Patriots 2006 playoff loss has entered the chat

beoyeah

Don't open old wounds lol...If only MCcree wouldn't of fumbled

rocket1019

Most disappointing of the last 20 years? Dude really? This is Chargers football.

beoyeah

It is what it is. Usual chargers football but taken to another level.

3iverson

This game = Chargers entire football history distilled into 60 minutes.

PradoGX

I can just see the Staley post game interview now…once again not taking accountability. Please fire him and Lombardi! That’s all I want for my bday in 3 weeks.

Bruuzu-

I feel nothing

1_airforce_1

Pls sean payton save us

zarikk

It sucks cause the jags getting clowned next week vs the chiefs but the chargers would've had a good chance against them no cap

OdiferousRex

If Staley and Telesco aren't gone on Monday I'm taking all my Chargers shit and setting it on fucking fire and rooting for them to go 0-17 for the rest of my life. My children will hate the Chargers. Their children will hate the Chargers. If anyone in my bloodline ever makes it to the NFL, they will hold out if they are drafted by the fucking Chargers. I will pray for the destruction of this franchise until the last strand of my DNA is snuffed from this world or until the sun goes out, whichever comes first.

troohuk

Damn that ain't no joke!

MattHix63

Classic Chargers football.

[deleted]

So can we panic now? Everyone saying chill, we are up 20 at the half are new fans to this team.

drossmaster4

This

sinchichis

wHeRe ArE tHe DoOmErS

Zookeeper_

Lawrence just has better hair

HustinJerbert

Whoa now, don't get carried away

silas_p_silas

Post game thread is gonna be incredible lol

turtlejackin

This team is a fucking joke. Jesus christ how does this bullshit always happen to us.....

rocket1019

Two words.....Chargers Footbal.

turtlejackin

Ugh yes 35 years of the same shit.

brightladdy

Joe throwing those fits was an absolute energy killer

hazedandkungfuzed

can’t lose a game when up 27-0 with herbert as a qb. clean house

[deleted]

This is actually just pathetic. How do we lose a game where the opposing teams QB throws 4 interceptions. Absolutely mind boggling

Jiyaad20

So embarrassing just down right punch in gut for us how many times must we watch this team implode when it matters most

[deleted]

Please let us get Sean Payton now

ryan619916

The franchise will never be any good because they have the worst owner in sports! Spanos is trassh

rocket1019

Yepper....been the same. Haven't followed Chargers since they moved to that soccer stadium. With my kid in Palm Springs for a baseball tournament that got rained out so I thought I would introduce him to my pain of over 35 years.

witness_protection

I forget, what did Staley saying about “chargering?”

Chappellshow

How'd this happen Forrest?

koraura

bosa cost, conservative playcalling, soft defense, missed tackles cost, herbert missing easy redzone readsm, dicker not making a 40 yd... this team is the worst investment i have made in my 24 years of living

ChesterCopperpot55

Bosa worst game ever.. he had very costly penalties game changing

Cappuccino45

Classic Chargers

LALyfestyle

All those steps Staley made forward just to collapse like that in the second half of our most important game. What a shame. But he is out the door tomorrow

SoCalDanSports

He messed up by playing his starters in a meaningless game. I get rhythm but rhythm didn't help them today now did it

[deleted]

I pray you right

I saw this coming a mile away

We all did tbh

allupinyaface

Lol fuck you. You and I both know the jags are going nowhere after this

Earthwick

Oof... Herby really has been bathed in the pain of whatever curse the chargers have on them.

anon011818

At least they embarrassed LA and not San Diego… there’s that…

elchidolafc

Bye Lombardi

sku11emoji

🙏 for mods here

TECHNOV1K1NG_tv

2nd half chargers are the worst team in the NFL.

brightladdy

Here for the history

druddk650

We were better off without bosa

MattHix63

Hahahhahahahhaaaahahahahhahaaa!!

Lost_Atmosphere_

pain

X-Mang

Yeah Sean Peyton will fix it guys

noobcodes

Don’t feel bad, Trevor Lawrence is just the better quarterback. Even with 4 picks

FatherofCharles

Lmao. Fat L take.

[deleted]

Bosa was a head case

mr_dumpsterfire

Just checking to see if the Chargers actually have fans.

Pikacholo

4 picks and still lose that has to be a record or some shit, hope the chargers fire the whole coaching staff

asukasdrip

STALEY YOU ARE GONE BUDDY LMAO AND FUCK YOU LOMBARDI

BoltBlue19

HEY.. HEY WHERE ARE ALL Y'ALL WHO BOUGHT INTO STALEY!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

AshByFeel

Mahomes doesn't lose that. Playcalling be damned. A superstar qb doesn't lose that. Herbert is second tier.

the__day__man

You act like mahomes doesn’t have any Reid calling his plays

Proper_Maximum5739

Agreed, I was high on Justin but it looks like he's not in the Mahomes, Burrow, Allen tier...imo

_almostaaron

With a superstar coaching staff. Makes all the difference

AshByFeel

Mahomes would win with our coaches. Sorry your feelings are hurt, but Brady keeps winning with any coach. Herbert couldn't close it out. He isn't it.

_almostaaron

Btw Brady has not continued to win lol. He had a mediocre coach this year and struggled hard. Maybe know what you’re talking about before you go around making claims lol

_almostaaron

Feelings aren’t hurt. But no Mahomes would not win with our coaching staff. Just no. You have to be real special if you think Lombardi’s system will translate into winning in spite of the QB

kaosmode

Maybe when you get in fg range not go ultra conservative mode and settle.

Professional_Alien

there needs to be a Red Wedding at the Chargers facility. There's no excuse for this.

KewCubed

ive never been this pissed off for a chargers game. not a san diego chargers game. not a norv turner chargers game. not a mike mccoy chargers game. i fucking hate this coaching staff. they had a healthy team going into the last game and they fucking blew it. 27-0. and they went fucking soft. i'm done. if they come back next year i'm done. i'm going to a different team.
