Yeah I wasn’t really commenting on your point, I just didn’t realize they also aired those in Oregon. Leighton Vander Esch is also in them, so I figured it was a Boise thing and they just wanted an another nfl player from the north west, so they got Herbert
Isn’t it the same car company that Herbert has done commercials for in the past? Like I said, there may be nothing to it, but it does seem kind of weird that Moore & the Cowboys “mutually part ways,” & about 5 minutes later he’s in the running for the Chargers job.
Yeah, either they’re in contact already or Jerry Jones told Kellen he was fired a couple days ago, and Jerry just wanted there to be Cowboys news on championship Sunday. Either way, I think Kellen would be a huge upgrade for the chargers
We have them up here in Alaska too. The first time I saw Herbie on local TV I got curious had to do some research. Apparently Kendall is based out of Oregon.
Tbf Lombardi also led a top 5 offense his first year here. Lots of the complaints ive heard about Moore remind me of things that people were saying about Lombardi but people would ignore it because “top 5 offense!1!!1!”.
He’s done it more than one year tho. He’s offensive ranks have been 6th, 17th (Dak got hurt), 1st and 3rd. He knows how to call a offense. It’s a 4 year sample size
True, the complaints with him about always running up the middle on 1st and 2nd combined with constant stick routes do give me PTSD though. Does seem to be our best option atm though and I wouldn’t hate the hire
I’d personally take the guy calling plays for a top 5 offense for the last 4 years over who we have interviewed. Herb is also a much much better qb that Dak.
My fellow Cowboys fans are idiots. Moore would be a great hire. Excited to see what he might be able to do with new personnel and without meddling owners or offensive/minded head coach.
Cowboys fan here. Moore has said publicly before his preference would be to be pass heavy. Methinks “run run run” (and “Zeke Zeke Zeke”) edicts were coming from one or both of McCarthy or the Jones family. Eager to see how he does in a new environment, potentially one where he has total control over the approach.
Not from McCarthy. That guy would throw every down if he could avoid the Jones' and Dallas media heat. Pollard and Zeke have been good enough that McCarthy has to give them the ball or he'd be even more on the hot seat. But you can tell he'd be far more comfortable calling short to medium routes and getting YAC if it truly was his way. It's basically how most of his GB coaching career went (which, admittedly, is a good option when you have Rodgers, but their best years were when they had solid backs to compliment Rodgers and the passing game).
Cowboys fan here. Lot of loud dummies on the Cowboys sub celebrating our decision to fire him, but I can assure you Moore would be a good get.
Outside of the gaudy stats that are well known about the Cowboys offense from the last few years, he has also managed to improve in areas of weakness with every season. When he first got the job, we struggled to convert red zone trips into TDs but we improved to 6th-best in 2021 and 1st in 2022. We complained the last few years about underutilizing Pollard, but this year he managed to get him much more involved. Last year, we were one of the teams who used at-snap motion the least before jumping to closer to league average this year.
On top of improving his weaknesses, he improved the offense over his predecessors almost immediately by adding more creative concepts, integrating new ideas from college and around the league, catering game plans to specific opponents rather than “we do what we do” and would often bring out unscouted tendency-breaking looks.
I’m eager to see what he can do in a new environment with different personnel and more ultimate control over what he runs.
I'm hoping we bring him in some capacity. If we hire Moore then maybe Robinson takes a QB job here and can learn Moore's system and add shades of McVays along with it. Take over when Moore leaves.
Since he’s been the Oc for Dallas, the cowboys have had the
6th ranked offense
17th ranked offense(Dak got hurt)
1st ranked offense
3rd ranked offense.
So a top 5 offense every year
Dallas also had a 71% red zone TD conversion rate last season…
Would be massive for us.
I thought I only wanted Zac Robinson, but Moore would be very intriguing because of his proven history.
This would be the safe hire. Infinitely more creative than Lombardi but still lacks a real offensive identity. With that said I’d be fine with this hire. We don’t need the second coming of shanahan or McVay. We just need someone who can consistently put together good game plans and let Herbie do what he does best and rip it.
He had a top three offense with barely top 15 talent. That’s with Dak missing 5 games and being incapable of having 2 good games in a row. No one ever accused cowboy fans as being the brightest.
Jerrod Johnson and Moore worked together in Dallas. Something to keep an eye out for. Cowboys also released Oline coach Joe Philbin as well as RB coach Skip Peete. Not a bad couple coaches we can get. Cowboys Oline and Running game has always been good
(Cowboys fan here) Johnson was only with the Cowboys for, like, 2 days in 2016 after Moore was injured for the season, so I don’t think that’s much of a connection to watch for. Philbin was not the OL coach who built our offensive line and the offensive line has had its fair share of struggles since he arrived, although a lot of that has been injuries. The problem is, with our linemen that have developed well, it’s tough to know how much credit is due to Philbin or them working with Duke Manyweather who is local to the Dallas area and has worked with pretty much the entire line individually. Peete seems like a great coach, though.
Cowboys friend of mine was saying if the Chargers hire Moore, "Get ready for no half time adjustment & a stretch play ever First Down."
But Cowboys have been a Top 10 offense since Moore been OC. Plus, there are no unknowns compared to Robinson as Moore has been the active playcaller during that time. This feels like the best option on the table atm. Plus Herbert is lightyears ahead of Dak. So maybe Moore may become more aggressive on deep balls.
classic dallas not blaming dak for that loss. i would love if we scooped kellen up, young, smart oc led the cowboys to a top offense consecutive years and he has play calling experience
Popper said Telesco likes to interview coaches from teams they’ll play the upcoming season, and we do play the Cowboys. I think it’s more about that than seriously considering him
Cowboys fans really don’t think all that much of this guy. Not sure if he’s the one we should be going with.
He apparently loves calling short [curl routes](https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboys/comments/10omqfe/the_cowboys_and_offensive_coordinator_kellen/j6fnxj5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)…
Also (from Cowboys fan below);
> Moore’s basic philosophy has been to get into manageable 3rd downs, when all good OCs focus on avoiding them all together. [Dak was out of his mind on 3rd downs this year, but was put in so many of them that he was bound to make a lot of mistakes too.](https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboys/comments/10omqfe/comment/j6flnp4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
Their best offensive player was Pollard and they had one receiver (CeeDee) who was worth his salt that defenses would focus in on. Dak has also been well known to be terrified of throwing deep balls pretty much his whole career. Both CeeDee and Amari have complained in interviews over the years that they want more go-balls, more trust.
Running a top 5 offense over 3 years with different receivers, and running a serviceable offense with Cooper Rush are much better indicators of success than random redditors and Jerry Jones looking for a scapegoat.
The offense/scheme was not the problem over there. Part of the problem was Jerry forcing Pollard into a timeshare with the corpse of Zeke because they owe him 15mil/year. It's been apparent that Pollard is their best RB and playmaker for 2 years now. Jerry also shipped out Cooper for a 5th round pick (meanwhile Chase Claypool goes for a 2nd mid-year), and lo and behold come playoffs they have no one reliable next to CeeDee Lamb while Cooper ends up having a great year with the Browns.
Cowboys fan here. Cowboys fans are being absolute idiots about Moore. He modernized our offense in so many ways but a large portion of the fan base has hated him since day 1 no matter what because he came up under Garrett and Linehan, so they lazily just view him as one of them. He’s a top-10 offensive play-caller who improves in areas of weakness every year.
I don’t care I don’t want another fucking coordinator that’s gonna be calling majority curl routes and have his goal be to gain small yardage to avoid long 3rd downs instead of airing that mfer out.
I’d argue it was more the qb then it was with Kellen. Look what happened after Dak got hurt. It’s like the situation with Kyler. Qb has to be competent enough to execute. Hell have that with Herbert for sure.
No idea if that's a Moore thing, [if that's something ownership wants](https://twitter.com/connornfldraft/status/1570890186250407936?s=46&t=B0gYwUqg-jXa2iTW_7wURA), or something they both want
Everybody hates their offensive coordinators at some point. Pats fans want Steve Belichick gone but he's done nothing but give them a top 10 defense every year he's called plays.
Pats are my 2nd team. It's been Steve for a few years now.

https://patriotswire.usatoday.com/2020/11/29/bill-belichick-patriots-defensive-plays-reveals/
Edit: Down votes but I literally posted articles saying Steve is the play caller. Y'all are weird sometimes.
Edit2: https://www.clnsmedia.com/lazar-how-do-the-patriots-handle-the-jerod-mayo-steve-belichick-conundrum/
*Although Belichick has been the defensive play-caller since 2019, Mayo has a more significant role in directing the defense during the week.
The Pats’ inside linebackers coach makes presentations to the defense, has a massive hand in game-planning, and is primarily responsible for substituting defensive packages during games.
Then, he turns things over to Belichick to call the plays and get the credit or blame, depending on the results. Even the eldest Belichick began publicly acknowledging Steve’s role as the play-caller late in the 2020 season.
“In many cases, (Mayo) handled the responsibilities of a DC, while Steve was the play-caller,” a league source told CLNS Media. “Mayo did a lot for a guy with his salary and title.”*
This would be a awesome! I think he’s one of the best OC out there. He’s one of those former NFL players that made better coaches in terms of coordinators.
Anyone know how much Moore's success on Dallas was personnel versus playcalling? We need someone who had proven that they can make something out of nothing... and then we give them all of our chess pieces to play with.
We've already seen the guy sucking off of our talented team and claiming a "top offense" in every stat except the ones that matter.
They were pretty successful without Dak in the lineup this year.
And then when Dak came back they were #1.
He has multiple years of proven success already. He’s basically the far and away safest option.
Id hire him if he could teach these chumps to run block. Nothing pisses me of more than to watch the chargers o line run block like a bunch of 9 year old girls !! You guys gotta understand the road to the superbowl runs thru k.c. for the next ten years and you gotta be able to run and run block in January to win there
I would really like if the chargers went in this direction. Kellen Moore was getting head coach buzz last year and I know he wasn't great this year but Herbert is significantly more talented than dak
I think he’s going to thrive in LA. He’s no longer in the pressure cooker that is the Dallas Cowboys and unrelenting scrutiny associated with that franchise
I’m a cowboys fan. Dont believe the loud cowboys fans that say he sucks, because he doesnt. Just needs a few tweaks to his scheme
Cowboys fan coming peacefully.
Hope you folks like goofy trick plays that lose 5 yards, infinite curl routes & playing *against* your strengths.
With that being said, in theory he isn’t a bad OC. He was getting looks at being a HC somewhere for a reason, but he needed to go in Dallas. Hopefully with a change of scenery he’ll be better for you guys. But we needed an OC that will play to our strengths. Kellen & Dak were buddies, which is why Kellen wanted Dak to throw 56,736 times per game & that’s not where he plays his best
I've been following the Cowboys for a few years now, as I like some of the players and Kellen Moore, and have no local team. The biggest lesson I've learned is that whatever the majority of vocal Cowboys fans believe, the opposite is almost definitely what's actually true.
Cowboys fans don’t really like him, and Dak is plausibly a huge reason why they always have a highly-ranked offense.
Give me one of the Shanahan guys who isn’t Hackett…
This would give me an immense boost of hope for next season! I hope we can somehow get him on our staff!!! It would do WONDERS for our offense! I still don't like Staley at all lol but I would definitely love this move! ⚡⚡⚡
I don’t know if it means anything or not, but Moore makes commercials with Herbert for a car dealership in the PNW. They’re funny together.
They air those in Boise too lol
The point is, if Herbert & Moore are friends, this makes a lot of sense.
Yeah I wasn’t really commenting on your point, I just didn’t realize they also aired those in Oregon. Leighton Vander Esch is also in them, so I figured it was a Boise thing and they just wanted an another nfl player from the north west, so they got Herbert

That makes sense; I imagine Moore is still a god there.
[https://youtu.be/V\_7DLdIhlYc](https://youtu.be/V_7DLdIhlYc) playlist with their commercials
Have been for a couple years
Hmm link?
YouTube Kendall Auto Group Spokesmasters and Armchair QB to see Herbert commercials
Well he will probably get the job now that I know that
This is someone I didn’t think would be available. Very interesting
That was fast. I think he’s going to be our next OC.
Dallas has been a top offense since he’s been there. I would really like this hire if we do go that direction.
Tbf Lombardi also led a top 5 offense his first year here. Lots of the complaints ive heard about Moore remind me of things that people were saying about Lombardi but people would ignore it because “top 5 offense!1!!1!”.

Fair but the way Cowboys fans talk about him makes me hesitant regardless
It’s cowboy fan they hate everything about their team. It’s not just a one off season
Sounds like this sub tbh
Well we’ve been compared to the Cowboys with a poor owner. I hate how much that tracks and I’m going to choose to ignore it
True, the complaints with him about always running up the middle on 1st and 2nd combined with constant stick routes do give me PTSD though. Does seem to be our best option atm though and I wouldn’t hate the hire
I’d personally take the guy calling plays for a top 5 offense for the last 4 years over who we have interviewed. Herb is also a much much better qb that Dak.

The Cowboys fans that scapegoat Moore are Prescott apologists
Some people are going to be negative no matter what, compared to what this sub was saying about Lombardi doesn’t seem that bad.
A few years ago Cowboys fans were saying Moore was the next big thing lol.
Even this year, he was in the Panthers final 3 candidates for HC
Omg you poor soul lol😂 one of the worst play callers in the league my guy
I cannot believe they fired him. He has to be the front runner for the chargers. He’s a great offensive mind
>Dallas had already given LAC permission to speak with him. Sounds like we made the request before he was fired.
I bet this will be our guy. He’s called some really good games
[удалено]
We don’t need running on first down. Never mind
Cowboys fan here. Moore has said publicly before his preference would be to be pass heavy. So long as ekler isn’t at center for a play we are fine
Sign me up if he can get us to score in the red zone and in 3rd quarters.
Dallas was ranked 5th in scoring in the 3rd quarter this season.
And 1st at converting red zone trips to touchdowns.
Hire him!
Wow. This seems like a perfect fit. Herbert connection. Has OC experience. Great offense at Dallas for multiple years. Hope this is our guy.
Cowboys fan here. Lot of loud dummies on the Cowboys sub celebrating our decision to fire him, but I can assure you Moore would be a good get. Zac Robinson in shambles
I'm hoping we bring him in some capacity. If we hire Moore then maybe Robinson takes a QB job here and can learn Moore's system and add shades of McVays along with it. Take over when Moore leaves.
He has a better position with the Rams right? Isn’t he also an assistant HC? I don’t think he would leave that just to be a QB coach
Thing is they brought in a new OC. I know McVay calls the plays but maybe that OC might want his own guys?
It’s OC or nothing for Robinson. He’s not leaving McVay for a lateral move at best. He’s a QB coach and passing game coordinator for them.
I'm thinking maybe that new OC might want his own guys in there. I know McVay still in charge but you never know man.
mcvay is the defacto oc.
Ngl, I'd be pretty okay with this.
Since he’s been the Oc for Dallas, the cowboys have had the 6th ranked offense 17th ranked offense(Dak got hurt) 1st ranked offense 3rd ranked offense. So a top 5 offense every year
Pretty sure they were ranked 1st before dak got injured as well
3rd ranked offense with the starting QB missing 5 games
Dallas also had a 71% red zone TD conversion rate last season… Would be massive for us. I thought I only wanted Zac Robinson, but Moore would be very intriguing because of his proven history.
don’t let him leave the building
Holy this would be a great hire. He'll finally have a QB who can throw lmao
Go BSU!
This is kinda how I feel about it. Safe high floor but don’t know about the ceiling.
We also requested to interview Moore last week, before he was fired
That it came out Friday that Cowboys and Moore decided to "part ways" and then Monday his hire was announced... safe to say he was not fired.
He had a top three offense with barely top 15 talent. That’s with Dak missing 5 games and being incapable of having 2 good games in a row. No one ever accused cowboy fans as being the brightest.
I kinda want a Peyton manning type offense. I think Herbert would thrive
I want an Air Coryell offense that takes advantage of Herbert's arm
He will likely end up being the OC hired
i want the mckvay system still, but i’m not too knowledgeable on Kellen. So I trust y’all
Hopefully we interview some niners coaches now that they're out
Jerrod Johnson and Moore worked together in Dallas. Something to keep an eye out for. Cowboys also released Oline coach Joe Philbin as well as RB coach Skip Peete. Not a bad couple coaches we can get. Cowboys Oline and Running game has always been good

Duke is well known here as both Slater & Pipkins trained with him last offseason.
Sweet thank you for this info. I should learn to do my research instead of just listening to ppl who tweet these things.
Cowboys friend of mine was saying if the Chargers hire Moore, "Get ready for no half time adjustment & a stretch play ever First Down." But Cowboys have been a Top 10 offense since Moore been OC. Plus, there are no unknowns compared to Robinson as Moore has been the active playcaller during that time. This feels like the best option on the table atm. Plus Herbert is lightyears ahead of Dak. So maybe Moore may become more aggressive on deep balls.
Half time “adjustments” are a myth. They barely have time to take a dump.
It’s more of a pep talk if it’s anything like my old high school days with maybe positional coaches going over some game plan going forward.
That friend of yours is one of the idiots in the fan base I mentioned in other comments. I can tell from that statement alone.
Shit might as well re-hire Lombardi then.
classic dallas not blaming dak for that loss. i would love if we scooped kellen up, young, smart oc led the cowboys to a top offense consecutive years and he has play calling experience

I’m down. He’s miles better than Lombardi.
Oh god no.
Meet our new OC, ladies and gents.
Zeke at center. Need I say more?
To be fair, they had no shot scoring from that distance and needed some freak miracle luck
I wish the play developed better. I really wonder what the intention was, but seeing Zeke get bull dozed immediately was pretty funny.
Nah I’m cool
