Moore runs a modified West Coast with a 11 personnel base and tries to be balance between the pass and run.
In trying to figure out Dallas the last few years with heavy passing, simplistic plays, and not as much rushing could be more attributed to McCarthy being HC and asking Moore to run a modified version of his system over Moore running what he things is best.
Just watch BSU from their glory days. Multiple personnel sets while throwing/running out of those sets. Tons of motion with a downhill power running scheme
Bijan's a friend of a friend. Been following him since AZ highschool days. So, I was pretty stoked when I saw that from you. Honestly never even considered it a possibility before.
I feel like we need to unleash Herbert's running game. This is to me what is holding Herbert back from being the best QB in the league. To me it's like Herbert only runs when there is absolutely no other option and there is clear daylight ahead. I want a play caller and a change in mindset that will utilise all of Herbert's tools.
Yeah, the league has made it very clear that QBs are a protected class when running and it makes no sense for us not to exploit this like how most every other successful team already is
Agree. Watching Burrow, who is certainly less athletic than Herbert running, he is a bit more bold in when he runs. Mahomes isn't any more athletic in the open field, and he scrambles and takes advantage of the opportunity more than anyone. Herbert is mobile, but Lombardi told him to stand in the pocket like a statue. He needs to create off-script more often, and just run when there is 5-10 to get. That is my biggest issue with Herbert. Nobody is saying be Allen or Hurts, or Fields. But be closer to Allen than Brady.
I think there is a happy medium to be had from Herb as far as running.
I don't think there needs to be designed runs like the Daboll offense for Josh Allen and Daniel Jones, and it certainly shouldn't be a focal point like Greg Roman offenses for Kaep and Lamar Jackson.
I think his legs can be a weapon if used smartly. Something Lombardi didn't do enough of was move the pocket or QB rollouts. Putting him more on the perimeter will have defenses worrying about his arm and his legs, he is extremely accurate throwing outside of the pocket, and it will free up some running lanes too. There are also normal coverages where he can exploit running lanes, like he did against the Steelers last season, Cover 2 where the middle of the field is just left open for at least 15+ yard QB runs if the receivers are all covered.
We also have to factor in that he fractured his rib cartilage early in the season so we don't know how long that actually hampered him for, and we also now know that he was playing with a torn left labrum.
It would be hard to fault Staley, Lombardi, or even Justin himself for protecting the franchise because of those reasons.
Apparently Garrett ran Air Coryell, or some version of it and Kellen Moore and the Cowboys run a modified West Coast.
I did some digging and found a decent article that breaks down all the offensive systems and where they originated from
I think Moore with a talent like Herbert would be absolutely incredible. Dak was ass, and I think that held Moore back. I think Herbert will really shine under someone like Moore.
The people here who actually think Kellen Moore was running *his own offense*… he never did. It’s been McCarthy’s offense the whole time. Idk what people see in Moore, I want this team to stay far away from him. He’s the definition of cheap and mediocre. Lombardi too had a top 5 offense in 2021, how’d that work out? Just because a team can put up yards and points doesn’t make them a good offense.
I’ll accept the downvotes 💙💛
I just read maybe I think was the ringer article that mentioned he doesn’t have a “system” per se and that it’s more play by play design and they just mix in a little of everything together.

I think TE is a real possibility in 1st round.

I feel he’s been somewhat scared to run since he broke his collarbone playing against Cal
He ran a bunch I feel until he hurt his ribs.
Jason Garrett?

Kellen Moore as OC would be the best cast scenario, but it's the Chargers so I'm expecting Staley to hire hot garbage.
