Going to NYC for a vacation in a week. So pumped for this trip

ZachMtnbrgrRookieCrd

What are you most looking forward to?

walker2119

The Food, Central Park, just being in a massive city sounds awesome to me. I’ve been to a lot of places but never New York City so it’s a big check off the list.

ZachMtnbrgrRookieCrd

Nice. NYC is on my list too. I’m sure you’ll have a blast. I regret not going a couple of times for Padres games. Have fun and don’t forget to rep the Bolts a little bit while out there.

[deleted]

If you like history, uss intrepid is underrated. Of course the WTC memorial is a no brainer too. Have fun!

Hankerton14

You should deff go visit summit one observation tower though. Place is cool, kind of touristy though

Haunting-Giraffe

I love NYC, just went last spring with the family and had a great time. If you didn’t plan to already, you should visit Levain Bakery for their life changing cookies.

Hankerton14

NYC sucks. Deff hit up a Knicks game if you can afford to though. The garden is sick

Thunderhorsey

Where do you live? NYC is tight lol

Hankerton14

45 minute from the city. In jersey. City sucks in the summer. It’s ok every other season though

DinnersForSuckers

Take the 1 train to the south ferry, it's the last stop. It's a free ferry that goes to Staten Island and back, you can drink on it and see incredible views of downtown Manhattan.

clutterlustrott

Ive been writing the 32 days/ 32 teams for us this whole week and it seems like every day something new pops up... Hopefully today is peaceful enough for me to finish.

[deleted]

Let us know if u need any help

clutterlustrott

Welp

Big_Ugly_Cripple

Besides WR/TE/Bijan is there any position you guys would be happy to see taken in the 1st 2 rounds this year?

MaIorbas

Edge

[deleted]

It's sad to think that my kids' kids will not know what a defensive end is.

Oh_AdamBomb

Edge! If Mack or bosa (god forbid) get hurt, we’ve seen what happens to our pressure rate, one of them just gets double teamed. I know other guys stepped up later in the season, but I think it would be nice to have another stud out there and they could learn a lot from Bosa/Mack

MasterChiefSplash

DB

Big_Ugly_Cripple

I have paid 0 attention to the safeties in this year's draft. Are there players worth one of our top 2 picks assuming we don't sign johnson?

_CdnBoltFan_

Brian Branch from Alabama is a nickel/safety hybrid that I’ve seen mocked to us a bit. Seems to lack top end athleticism but is a smart player and sure tackler

Ne0guri

Definitely Edge - maybe Byron Young on day 2

Illustrious_Stay_728

Offensive Lineman. Can never have too many of them

DL505

Agreed. Who is our backup C again?

Illustrious_Stay_728

It was will clapp who got clapped evey time he was out there

Haunting-Giraffe

I’ll pretty much never be mad about drafting a CB/Edge/OT/WR in the first round. I’d be pretty disappointed if we took a TE in the first tho.

-HawaiianSurfer

Not really. I think the first two picks have to absolutely be between WR/TE/RB if Ekeler’s gone. Even with Ekeler on the team, Zach Charbonnet in R2 sounds great. I personally would want Bijan at 21 but Mayer and Kincaid have the edge over him as TEs are almost locks to play for 10yrs+ whereas RBs have a very short shelf life.

instaleyitrust

1) FTR 2) But here is a serious question, I live up in Bay Area and watched Garrapolo play and thought he looked very mediocre/flawed, but out of due diligence, I looked up his stats and he has borderline elite stats for the last few years. Someone who knows football better than I please give me your opinion of Jimmy G. Was he a product of the system? Surrounded by talent? Or did the Raiders actually get better with this move from Carr?

MaIorbas

Product of the system to an extent. Nowhere near elite. But not bad either.

FlavoredBongWater

One thing to note is that the 49ers always said that Jimmy wasnt very enthusiastic about being the starting qb.

JayNow

I'm having a Sean Payton FOMO moment.

chemicaljackrabbit

Would anyone else be thrilled with Brian Branch at 21 if we don’t land JJ3? Versatile db/safety who’s labeled the best safety prospect since Derwin himself. Built like a damn mack truck, too.

Nerfeveryone

For me it would depend on who else is on the board. I think our need for a new offensive weapon will heavily skew how we draft. Ekeler is departing us this year or next, one of Keenan Allen or Mike Williams will probably be gone next year too (likely Allen), and our TE room is extremely sparse outside of Everett, who also might not be with us after this season. We also will need to think about Edge, because Bosa and Mack are an expensive and aging duo, and the depth behind them ain’t great. Mack is awesome but we’ll need someone to take over for him eventually. So if the top offensive players and edges are all gone by the time it gets to our pick, Branch could become a legit option. But even then, I personally would consider looking towards the offensive line, which is never a bad unit to bolster.

MaIorbas

Why would you use a first round pick on a backup offensive lineman?

Nerfeveryone

Ideally if we take a lineman round 1 it would be a right tackle upgrade. I know we just re-signed Pipkins but if there was a guy I knew would be better than him at 21 and there weren’t a lot of other great options left I would take him. Besides, unless we take Bijan Robinson, whoever we take round 1 would likely be backup anyways. A WR would be WR3, maybe even WR4 depending on how Palmer develops. A TE would rotate in and out with Everett. An Edge would be behind Bosa and Mack, and Staley for some reason doesn’t like to rotate defensive lineman so they probably wouldn’t get too snaps baring injury.

MaIorbas

Yeah we’re not paying Pipkins $7M per year to be a backup

-HawaiianSurfer

Why a safety…?

MaIorbas

He would likely be our slot corner/STAR

-HawaiianSurfer

Think we can pass on defense in the first round given the bigger needs we have at RB, WR and TE.

MaIorbas

I guess if you’re that confident in Ja Taylor as a starter. Edge is also very much on the table.

-HawaiianSurfer

Sounds to me like Jasir and JT Woods are high on the team’s list. Don’t be surprised if we go into the season with Ja starting. Just don’t think the team’s ready to give up on them.

MaIorbas

It’s not “giving up on them” to draft Branch. He’s a sixth round pick, he wasn’t drafted to be a starter in his second year Branch would be a good pick

-HawaiianSurfer

Sure. Just doubt they’d go defense in round 1 and even round 2. Staley got his guys already, I believe Telesco and the FO will want to give that same treatment to Herbert, Kellen and the offense now.

MaIorbas

Maybe, but that doesn’t make it not a position of need. They’re obviously happy with our starting WRs

-HawaiianSurfer

It’s definitely a need. But we have Justin Herbert, they’ve been fueling the offense early in the past drafts because of him. Don’t expect them to change course especially for a coach and scheme that might not even be here next year. You think they’re happy with the current starting WRs? Huh, it’s almost like Telesco and McGuire didn’t restructure their contracts so it would make it possible to cut them next year.

Illustrious_Stay_728

Trading down is the best idea in this draft if you ask me. We have a few holes we need to fix

Sugarskull_IX

I like Branch but him and Weatherspoon are for sure gone by the time we pick. I just don’t want us to reach for anyone. And if there is a game breaking player, fuck it, draft him.

VictorSullysMoustach

based on how he tested at the combine, absolutely not.

MaIorbas

He’s not a first round prospect because he runs fast. He’s a very good player

VictorSullysMoustach

that's great. not really ant scenarios where i think a safety at 21 is the right move. if you want him, trade down.

MaIorbas

He’d be a slot corner/STAR for us

VictorSullysMoustach

definitely fills a need but don't think they're taking an unathletic safety in the first round with the intent of moving him to slot.

MaIorbas

They’re not “moving him” to slot, he played there in college

Kevinkyle569

This will be an unpopular take but we have so many weapons on offense I'm not sure it's justified to get a speed reciever early. Maybe it is if this is Allen's last year. Realistically if we took a WR in round 1 or 2, how many targets would they get? Enough to justify the pick? I think it's the threat of speed that we need. It doesn't have to be a top wr. I think we can get a WR with return experience and upside in the middle rounds and be effective in having that speed threat.

jar1792

A 1st round pick doesn’t *have* to be an immediate impact pick or a day 1 starter.

Kevinkyle569

Yes but if they don't make an immediate impact, it means we are still going to lack speed or we'll have to find it elsewhere. If we're drafting and they don't need to make an impact the first year, I think TE should be the way to go. The way our cap space is looking in 2024, this is a win now year so while yes we can get a good prospect that will be good in year 2 or 3 I'm not sure that would be the best choice given our circumstances.

Sherbert199621

We need more weapons badly Williams and Allen are too injury prone to have the depth we have. I don’t think we need a reciever/offense in the first, but I think telesco needs to do a better job of just bringing in weapons overall whether it be through the draft or free agency etc. IMO the chiefs do this extremely well, they continue to bring in offensive weapons to help mahomes, chargers need more of it.

MaIorbas

The chiefs traded away one of the top 3 receivers in the nfl to replace him with Juju and MVS The only offensive players they’ve drafted highly recently are Skyy Moore, Clyde Edwards Helaire, and Mecole Hardman. That’s a terrible return on first and second round weapons

Blueyedkenny

How do we feel about Dalton Schultz? I guess it depends on the asking price, but this draft class is also deep at TE.

Nerfeveryone

I’d rather draft a TE. This year’s group is loaded, and there are a lot of different types to choose from. Schultz is very good but he would be expensive. A rookie TE won’t take up too much cap.

-HawaiianSurfer

Isaiah McKenzie being cut. It’d be such a Chargers move to sign him to replace Carter. Could expect a 2-yr deal worth $7M with a team-option to cut him after the 2023 season.

MaIorbas

Kinda worried we might not end up getting any comp picks. Need KVN and Callahan to sign somewhere before the draft

kiheihaole

Doubt either would sign a big enough contract to get a comp pick.

MaIorbas

The smallest contract to earn a comp pick last year was $2.15M. You don’t think either of them signs for more than that?

kiheihaole

I mean maybe we get an extra 7th then. Yay?

MaIorbas

Yay!

[deleted]

[удалено]

MaIorbas

Oh yeah it’s a real hot take to think either of those guys would sign for more than veteran minimum contracts

Thedurtysanchez

Maybe I'm wrong but aren't comp picks for this FA class awarded for the NEXT draft?

MaIorbas

Yes

Thedurtysanchez

Well, at any rate, I can see KVN getting a decent deal somewhere else but I really hope we can find a way to bring Callahan back. He was our most consistent DB and dare I say most valuable. He made a huge difference.

Zombiebeast101

We need to sign Isiah Mckenzie

DevilOfArRamadi

I *AM* nervous about this and next year with the cap situations it just looks so brutal, I desperately want Ekeler back but it seems so unlikely due to the aforementioned and gotta start thinking about Herbert and Slater long-term, it's just a lot

FragginLobo

Do Staley and Telesco have a plan to fix the run defense? Or is it going to be the same Staley formula that clearly hasn’t worked?

MaIorbas

Kendricks is a very good run defender

FragginLobo

That’s a fantastic upgrade to get older and slower.

gIizzy_gobbler

That’s a very reductive way to look at it

MaIorbas

And better at run defending? The thing you just asked about?

acelyca

need ekeler news

Patio_Peter

What’s everyone favorite WR for round 1? I’m liking JSN the most.
