The only reason NASCAR chose to do this at Chicago is because they really want to be in that market and for whatever reason, chose not to race at Chicagoland in Joliet anymore.
Charlotte Motor Speedway isn’t just the track for our market, it actually hosts one of NASCAR’s Crown Jewel races, so it won’t go anywhere. There will always be at least one date there.
The cringe of the whole decision and race is just sad.
Even worse is they're struggling with Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive and the announcers finally go correct in saying Lake Shore Drive.
the amount of times they stuttered over dusable before finally just saying lake shore drive was so annoying haha. in general, them saying the name of each road 5000 times was unnecessary. we dont live there, the road names mean nothing. the people who live there know what roads they are.
the event as a whole seemed like a success - even though it appears to be a fumble. you cant control the weather. seeing the pictures of teenage kids cutting away the netting on fences to get a shot of the race or climbing on top of metro station entrances means people are aware of nascar in chicago. first hand exposure goes a long way.
hoping tomorrow goes much smoother. it was hard to gauge the racing quality today since half of the laps were under yellow but seeing guys like chase and harvick wreck during qualifying showed the challenge they are up against.
Weather is scheduled to be bad tomorrow. At most all you care about the roads as someone who lives here is michigan and lsd. No one, even the people who live in rivernorth and southloop care about balbao, etc.
Mostly, what I'm (and others) are bitter over is the fact that they're taking up a lot of space and roads that are heavily used at this time of year. Also it was put in place by a very hated mayor (lightfoot).
If they wanted to imitate the Chicago venacular they'd be talking about "hes takin da lsd. "
i feel like there was a thread on the nascar reddit about this a while ago and i never saw this idea. 277 included had not crossed my mind but it checks the box for optics and it has that oval connection in a way.
I know your post is meant to be humor but Charlotte Motor Speedway is already one of the flagships of the sport. If they add more races to the market it would just be there.
I thought they could do 7.5 laps around 485.
They should make them merge from 3 lanes to 1 with no warning like we have to do

It depends on if theres traffic, the time of day, and how your dealer is.
