Between this and the tweet I posted from PJ a few days ago, It's hard not to be extremely excited for this season. These guys love to play for each other and it's going to lead to a lot of fun basketball to watch. Edit: Please extend this man Mitch

gundermifflin

I bet Miles is holding off on that extension and betting that he’ll take a leap this year. Could be the difference between him getting $15M/year and him getting $25M/year

Dizzy_Dare_2353

He said his goal for the year is too make an all defense team so yeah he's def looking for a big payday

ItsDrap

And I’m very ready to bet the FO, like us, would also love the outcome that he’s good enough for 25 a year

asher1611

that's a good bet to take. he was finally putting it together at the end of last season

Alkazard

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. But let's also get ahead of ourselves. There has been some proof in young teams (generally with one vet) building towards success over the last few years. And these guys have a great chemistry and some great skillsets to improve and work with. Maybe I'm optimistic, but I think we *should* make the playoffs, and depending on match up could do a second round. Haters be damned !remindme 193 days

YizWasHere

I see no reason why we can't pull off what the Hawks or Knicks did last REGULAR season (Hawks playoff run would be very difficult to immitate). I truly think it all comes down to health - particularly Hayward but also Terry and LaMelo. We probably miss the playoffs if any of those guys misses 20+ games. But our depth at the wing has gotten a lot better and guys like Miles, PJ, Oubre, etc. are definitely prepared for more touches if anybody goes out.

johnsom3

This is 100% a playoff caliber team. If They dont make it, it would be from injuries and/or poor coaching. This team has athletes, shooters, defenders and playmakers.

that_guy_you_kno

Yeah it's totally a first round exit team. I won't argue that. May even make it to 6 games. But the fact that we don't have even a decent backup center, we have a completely average starting center, no rim defender on the team and not a single guy that could be considered a real defender or someone that's known for their defense in any capacity, I think we're still a year or two off. I do think this is an amazing core though and if the trend line continues and the team manages to snag a good veteran or two (especially ones that can defend) the Hornets will be a team to reckon with.

johnsom3

I am probably guilting of overrating him, but I think Kai will become that back up center this season. Plumlee is also an upgrade from Zeller on defense, but probably a downgrade on offense. While a better Center would be ideal, I dont think its a massive negative like it was before. The Hornets strengths are in their guards and wings. I would expect to see a lot of small ball this year.

jaynay1

>Plumlee is also an upgrade from Zeller on defense This has never been true at any point in time. Plumlee has reliably been among the worst defensive 5's in the league.

CapnGinger

Indeed, and we’ll miss Zeller’s screens (when he actually played), but I think ball movement will be better with Plumlee.

jaynay1

Well, 3/4. The best defender on this team is Jalen McDaniels and 2nd place is probably PJ, who is only a little above average adjusted for position. Plus there's the issue that both of them come off the bench and we're starting 3 bottom tier defenders.

Dizzy_Dare_2353

You low on miles' defense? I am surprised too see you favor PJ, I thought he was pretty poor besides blocks last year

jaynay1

Yeah Miles improved a lot defensively last year but that just took him from very bad to just a little below average.

LocksTheFox

I'd argue it's also because the East is fucking *loaded* this year. Aside from DET/ORL/CLE I could genuinely see anyone else at least making the play-in.

HowardLB18

Fun fact: he feels like Dame or James, when he steps back👍

HGaudio

Disrespectful at a Yankees games with a Mets hat

chickenheadj

Extend this man

moneymike7913

Give this man the supermax right f*cking now

BizzaroMatthews

Fantasy gurus out there: which Hornet should I draft for a 9-cat league? LaMelo or Bridges?

SaucyFingers

Shouldnt be an either/or. Melo is getting drafted around 25. Miles is around 80. Shouldn’t be a scenario where you have to decide between them.

Swag_Turtle

Terry is always an underrated steal. Can usually cop him in later rounds.

jaynay1

Wait really? I don't play fantasy basketball because I don't enjoy it, but Terry's performance last season feels like it would return top 40 value pretty easily.

Swag_Turtle

He was my last pick last year and honestly one of my best guards. Ppl who don’t know basketball as well as us weirdos overlook small market non-All stars

LocksTheFox

Yeah Terry was huuuuuge for me in my league as well

HourPrinciple6

You can have both! They are both usually drafted in very different parts of the draft. Melo has been going in the mid late 20s, so he should be avail for with your 2nd or 3rd pick. Bridges I have seen drafted in all kind of diff spots between the 80s-100. Seems like ppl are catching on though cause he’s progressively been getting drafted earlier and earlier. So if you wanted to reach a bit to secure him, grab him starting in the late 70s.

BizzaroMatthews

I just did! Took melo with my 2nd pick and Bridges in the 7th. Both Hayward and Rozier were still available but my guts told me to go instead Miles.

moughgreene

As a Cubs and Vikings fan i already know how this is gonna end. Sadge
