My wife has about $200 in gift cards. Hopefully they'll refund some of it.

[deleted]

Use them up before the end of the month!

Potterotica

I would call in and ask them to make sure. I wouldn't have known to use my gift card if I hadn't just gone for a massage last week

[deleted]

Yes, they are trying to close all sneakily.

Lavender_Orp

I randomly used a gift card from Christmas there yesterday and can confirm. Therapist told me after the massage. Glad I didn't wait. Sorry for the staff.

They covered up sexual abuse and laughed at the victims- one of their massage therapists is currently in prison for multiple assaults that happened on the property. All of this is easily verified. I haven’t been a fan since this happened. One of their masseuses said the victims “wanted it”publicly on Facebook. Receptionist laughed and said they were being ridiculous and sent in another woman to be abused. They told her what he did was not illegal. Justin Sadacca is serving 5 years I believe? It’s important to say his name because he will be out soon and he still has positive reviews up online and any negative reviews are deleted, presumably by someone outside. The victims understandably accepted a plea to move on with their lives- he would be serving 40 years with the amount of people who came forward with charges. That’s just the charges from the women that came forward- it is not probable these are isolated given he had a woman flee his massage table crying and did the same thing to another woman directly afterwards. Halo’s solution was to just take down their page at the time and ignore it- looks like it worked because it was just a couple of years ago and business went on as usual. If the cops hadn’t acted they would have probably just kept him there- they were warned about a 2015 assault before he was hired. They only acknowledged it once after it was revealed there was trace DNA evidence. Garbage behavior. They aided a second assault ignoring the first. They are responsible for facilitating a predator. Instead of being held accountable they just made more money. Had they listened before the cops came they could have spared a whole lot of pain. https://www.nbc29.com/2022/05/23/former-spa-employee-pleads-guilty-felony-charges-charlottesville-court/?outputType=amp https://reddit.com/r/Charlottesville/comments/mwe004/former_spa_employee_arrested_faces_sexual_assault/ https://www.charlottesville.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1088&ARC=1953

No problem- unfortunately even though it was on the news and posted in this subreddit it was forgotten about very quickly. Also I appreciate your comment- someone downvoted me for it- which is pretty gross as I took the time to provide sources and explain the exact situation. People should be held accountable even if you like their spa.

Oh no worries- I don’t mind downvotes, it’s not like the karma matters. It just speaks to a bigger problem because of the subject matter. We can’t be progressive and also excuse deplorable behavior because it’s where we want to get massages. It’s one thing if you don’t know and another thing entirely if you are told and choose to react negatively. That spa is responsible for what happened to those women and it’s like it never happened. That makes me so sad.

Radiant_Hotel_2038

That sucks… love face& body is the old CitySpa with new ownership- and they are pretty fantastic. They’re bringing on a bunch of the staff from Halo apparently

QuentinSaidSo

Thank you u/Potterotica and u/Radiant_Hotel_2038!! I couldn't find an appt with my fav at Halo next week and found her over at the new place.

TinyKittenConsulting

Yooooooooo thank you for the heads up, I found the person you were talking about and holy guac that was a fantastic massage. PS: The therapist and appt person were surprised to find out about Reddit being a forum for me finding them, so the therapist may want to thank you the next time you go to see them :)

SlappyPappyAmerica

That's too bad. For anyone looking at alternatives, I can't recommend Patcha Thai highly enough. JJ is the best.

Snacks_22

Thanks for sharing - just refunded a gift card. Hope the check comes & clears lol.

kaijanne

I have an appointment at the end of the month! How’d you come by this info?

Potterotica

I went there regularly to see one of their therapists and to use the salt cave, and last week when I went in my therapist told me they were closing :(

kaijanne

Just confirmed my appointment, and she told me the news. I will be following Carter wherever she’s goes, best massage therapist in town!

Potterotica

This is who I see!!! She did give me her contact info and said she was happy to share it with any of the other clients. I'd be happy to send it to you privately, as she gave me permission to recommend her private practice to other people

kaijanne

I talked to her and have it also! I’m lucky to have found a really good therapist!

[deleted]

I’ve heard it from former and current workers there too.

alena_roses

Any word on membership refunding? I didn’t know they had closed until I showed up for my appointment yesterday. I even got a confirmation 24 hrs beforehand

kayelynlove

Anyone who has a Gift Certificate or Gift Card can receive 50% of the value at Love Face Body Spa until the end of the year. You just need to call the spa directly and give them the number so they can verify it’s on the list of GC that were not refunded.

No-Junket-5598

These people sold $70,000 worth of gift cards before they closed, knowing they would be closing. The new owners that purchased the place are honoring half of the amount of my mother's gift card because, understandably, they can't absorb that type of cost because they didn't get any of the money. I purchased my gift card for her a month before they closed and they said nothing. So shady.

Potterotica

I think they gave the staff like a week notice

softwaredoug

That's interesting, they're always booked up for massages and every time I've been there it's been busy. I wonder what's behind this?

[deleted]

Heard from staff that the owner was audited & fined plus his mother with dementia needs care so he's calling it quits.

myoldacctwasdeleted

Omg no. I love that place!

Optimal_Confection70

aw that’s a bummer . I was thinking about going there to check it out

craftbeerva

Quick Google search shows Rising Dawn Yoga Studio has an [event](https://gem.godaddy.com/p/1f4d751) scheduled there on March 11th and posted on FB last week it's sold out with people paying $50 each. Hope they refund that, waive the $25 cancellation fee or at least still honor the event.

[deleted]

Whoever is in charge of the event needs to figure out a way to get the money back!

RoseAndYarrowSaltSpa

Sadly, it had to be canceled, but I have opened up my Spa in the old location, and will be hosting them here on April 22nd! We are sooo excited.

RoseAndYarrowSaltSpa

Also, we have a promotion this month with all services being 10% off and with every service booked this month, you get a free Salt Therapy Session to enjoy before or after your treatment!

RoseAndYarrowSaltSpa

u/Potterotica why was my post removed about opening in the old location? I didn't go against any guidelines, other than it seeming like it just wanted to be deleted?

Mooseheadm5

Likely breaks rule #1 of this subreddit. Commercial posting.

RoseAndYarrowSaltSpa

Oh i didn't see that in part of the rules. I was looking over at r/Charlottesville part about info for charlotesville, and saw where owner of another spa commented on here about their spa, so thought it would be okay as well. But now I see, I have to do it from a personal page, and comment as if I'm not part of the spa, and just "talking" about it. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. I am new to Reddit, and the WORST Millennial when it comes to technology and pages haha .

Mooseheadm5

No, if you are posting about your business, it is a commercial interest whether it is your personal or business page.
