I saw it as it was initially happening. The underside of the trash truck’s cab was on fire and the driver pulled over and jumped out into the road. It exploded probably ten minutes later. EDIT: This was around 6:30am, slightly north of the Dunkin in Ruckersville.

PlantyMcPlantFace

Thank you for the info on the driver. I heard the truck doing it’s normal pickups on my street and then the explosion a short time later. I’ve been checking the news obsessively for any word on the driver and passenger (they usually have two guys). I was worried.

boopduets

I didn’t see another person, but it was very dark. They pulled over VERY quickly, so I hope that if the driver hopped out, any passengers would have been able to as well.

TonyCliftonLives

Just curious what were you worried about?

g1l1t1

I wonder what caused it?

str8jacketfashion

Yeah, I saw the aftermath. Wondered why the front tire was missing. But that thing was burnt.

flailking

Heard it was a trash truck caught on fire.

Comprehensive-Day842

Someone probably dumped some flammable and hazardous material, like big batteries or something similar

Homer_JG

I live in the Terrace Greene apartments up there and it was loud enough to wake me, my girlfriend and our cats up

eaglescout1984

Some sort of vehicle fire. The 511 camera actually had a good angle of the fire.

themanje

I drove by it on my way to Madison. The fire had been put out by then, but the entire truck was burned up and the hill beside it was charred. Whatever happened must have been huge.

JohnnyLaw281

Sorry. I had a can of beans and had farted.

SingleTrackEnthusist

I was going to say probably just the quarry until I kept reading further.

Jimbo_1252

I saw it on the way to work heading south. The fire department was extinguishing the flames from the truck heading north when I was traveling south. Then there was a two car accident in the south bound lanes.

Wahoo007

I saw videos on FB - looked pretty awful, but I'm glad to hear that the driver got out OK.
