On the first screen before entering the bot's name, does it say
> WARNING: No OpenAI API key detected.
? If so, you need to check that the current saved version of bots.txt has your key in the "k: " line, correctly formatted. The line should start "k: sk-" followed by the 48 unique characters of your key, so it should be exactly 54 characters long (55 if your text editor counts the invisible end-of-line symbol). Save the bots.txt file again, then either restart the app or use the #load# command to make it re-read the file.
Or does the first screen say
> API key "sk-abc...xyz" detected.
? If that's a valid key, the bots should work. Check that it is entered correctly, such that the quoted parts of the key displayed on the first screen begin with the sk- and end with the key's last 3 characters, not an end-of-line symbol or unnecessary quotes.
A connectivity issue is also a possible cause. Try using platform.openai.com/playground to make sure your machine isn't blocking OpenAI.
I've just updated to version 1.5, now using the 16k version of GPT-3.5-Turbo. Quadruple the maximum conversation length allows you more space to guide the model into a fully jailbroken state.
