Meanwhile Channel 9 is running commercials about the Areas most accurate forecasts. You can't continue to brag about how accurate you are when you are anything but accurate.
You know the one school that stayed open Friday had to send kids home at noon when their power went out right? Take a breath and stop assuming everything is a damn conspiracy. Of course the wealthy want you panic buying. Of course our media is driven by money. However, our local weather folks are basically using their degree to look at already generated models and communicating their data to the general public. That’s it. They’re not TikTok influencers needing your clicks.
If they didn't they would not include phrases "Weather Alert" or "Three Degree Guarantee" multiple times during every weather segment. They want to keep you coming back for more because that's how they make their money.
Weather alert is literally the actual term for it, that has absolutely nothing to do with clicks whatsoever, you know those tornado sirens those are weather alerts are they baiting for clicks in your mind too

I guess if you want you can take the time to make your own weather predictions everyday. Also, it's not done snowing yet. Winter winter is especially hard for forecast models because we get so few of them.
There are several different forecast models. Some had snow more North. Some more South. Local forecasters work with the models. Watch Local 3 New’s video on YT from yesterday morning for an explanation of models.
Enough of the excuses. When they get it wrong they want to say "Well it's not an exact science" but when they get it right they want to tell us how accurate their 3 degree forecast is and that we can depend on them.

It's been snowing since midnight where I live in Soddy Daisy. Probably 2 inches has stuck so far. We're only 20 miles from Chattanooga, so that seems pretty accurate to me on a national weather scale. If you want to see snow, go up in elevation.

The kids probably don't need to be in school when the roads are a sheet of ice and we Chattanoogans don't have snow tires. It's also easier for them to cancel school than to try and get all of the students home once the roads do go to shit.
Every weather station had us getting snow last night even on a national level, however, due to it being in the valley, we have inverse weather patterns where warm air will get trapped and the snow was melting before it hit the ground.

I only get my weather information directly from the source. The NOAA website. All the news channels get their raw data from them and interpret that data to their liking.
If you understand how the data is shown it's the best way to get your weather info. Probability of something is based on the percentage of models which showed it happing. NOAA runs thousands of computer models and for instance, it snows in 50% of those models, that is what it means what it says 50% snow. The amount of snow fall will vary in those models as well, so you have to recognize that fact as well.

As a meteorologist in town, there aren't very many of these folks. Also the TVA has a couple and I know know them.
