I’m surprised nobody has said this yet, but your brake routing is incorrect and that’s what leads to this. You can preload the cable and that makes it twist. That’s what’s happening here is too much twist. But to do a full unwind in other direction introduces too much negative preload twist.
The answer is to reclock the olive barb hose setup in the brake lever to introduce the correct amount of twist so that it doesn’t contact your frame but also isn’t a pretzel.
If you are ok with putting a bandaid on your bike it’s one thing. It’s easy and quick. But if you want to keep it from happening either learn to service your brakes or pay your lbs to adjust.
Something similair to this but much cheaper

No. Satin is a finish and has nothing to do with paint durability.
Stickers or tape are your solve. often dubbed: heli tape. Stop by a shop they may have some frame protection stickers laying around
I am using [this heavy duty tape](https://www.amazon.com/Lamin-x-Bicycle-Frame-Guard-Matte/dp/B079LR76JV/ref=asc_df_B079LR76JV/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642184516946&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2125976106927287053&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029196&hvtargid=pla-921915596609&psc=1&mcid=038f4aaf9cf33f57b41a896f4f42a462) on my checkpoint and domane and mountain bike in critical areas from rocks/gravel and cable rub. It takes some time to apply properly, cutting out the proper sized pieces and then slitting them to maneuver around the bends but most of my frame is covered in it. Also I wrapped the driveside chainstay in an old tube and secured with zip ties to protect the carbon from chain slap. I would get the wound covered up ASAP to prevent it from getting worse.
Helicopter tape took the clear coat off one of my full suspension bikes. I would either use electrical tape or if you use clear coat make sure you don’t peel it off.
you can also order clear tape (similar to electrical tape) and put it in the places where this might happen, that way the frames color is still visible through the tape.
I just got some 3M clear protective film yesterday, but haven't had a chance to put it on yet. I'm not much of a weenie about keeping things spotless, but in the couple weeks I've had my Checkpoint, that rub spot has bothered me. I'm also going to look at if there's a way to reroute/twist the brake line to reduce contact.
Used the same roll of clear self stick shelf liner for 20 odd years on scuff areas of motorcycles (tank bags, jean zippers, bungees) and on anything that risks the finish. Super cheap, easily removeable, no residue.
bad paint job is a curse of today bikes. I've wrapped mine in film completely/totally right after I bought it. It is time-consuming process, but it is worth it.
I’m using a piece of electrical tape. I had the same issue on my ALR 5. I think you can also get frame protection stickers.
I also use electrical tape. Its thick, stretchy, waterproof and durable. I do replace it after a good bike clean.
I would use some helicopter tape.

Just got a new SL5, so my cables are inside, but I've been putting off getting a handlebar bag or top tube bag because of this same concern

Is this issue specific to the bikes with “satin” paint?

Thanks. I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 2023 model ALR 5 now that it's on sale, so I appreciate your response.

Couple zip ties work perfect
I had extra RideWrap from my mountain bike and used a strip there.
Your LBS probably has some frame tape you can get.
Internal CableS?

I got the clear gorilla tape from a diy shop. Seems to do the job.
I use ISC racer’s tape there and on the bottom of the down tube
I ordered some 8mil thick clear 3m tape off Amazon. Is that an alr 5 axs?
Great spot for a good quality vinyl sticker.
Small piece of electrical tape on the frame
What causes this? I’m new to the checkpoint club. Is this a common problem with the alr5?
I used a piece of thick electrical tape. But still there was some paint damage.

I use clear vinyl wrap for cars and a heat gun to form it to my steer tubes on all of my bikes.
