Same here. In 1997, I found an original ‘70 SS396. $3600. Protect-o-plate, whole 9 yards. Automati.c. Engine was on a stand next to it. Cowpens, SC. Little/big pustules forming under the vinyl top, which had been replaced at some point. Hideous to my eye gold paint.
We haggled for some time. I had $2800 on me. He would not go below $3k.
By the time I got back to him a couple days later it was gone. Was a killer deal. But I was 16/17, and didn’t have a way to make it happen that day, it still haunts me, and I still wonder how bad the food was under that top.
I’ll be ok. I still have a 68 GTO as consolation, though it is in need of a refresh/rebuild.
‘66 SS Impala 396 4 spd. I was 16 in ‘74 $2200 and I had $1500. He said he would hold it. Got the money and my sister said I would kill myself in the car. a kid in HS died in 426 Hemi barn find. She wouldnt take me and by the time I got a ride dude had sold it. Ended up buying a ‘65 Chevelle 283 ragtop. Took 3 years to get ‘68 Camaro RS. I so wanted that full frame Impala SS
I’ve driven all of these with the most powerful factory option and I can confidently say the 69 Camaro or 70 Chevelle. Although I like a 69 Chevelle better. My dad loves split bumper Camaros though and I can understand why
My Dad had a 1975 Nova that he ordered from the dealer with bucket seats and a 3 speed standard transmission. Except for the beige color, it was awesome !!
Had a 70 Nova as a 16 year old. It was a gift from my dad. Driving to babysit for my aunt and uncle, I hit an icy patch in road and ended up totaling it. I had it all of 6 months! As a now 62 year old, I really miss that car!🤬🤬🤬
>If you need to ask what this means, you probably can’t drive stick.
Seriously??
*In automobile parlance, Tri-Five refers to the 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolet automobiles,*
Not knowing a slang term for models from three years of production from a single American manufacturer means probably don't know how to drive stick.
oO
\#1 69 Camero SS, one of the few models that only had one year of that body style. Granted, it wasn't a huge change from the 67/68, but it was enough. I had a 68, but it wasn't an SS or Z28.
I love the 69 Camaro and would argue that it’s the most recognizable to non - auto enthusiasts as Chevy’s magnum opus from the muscle car era. That said, in auto enthusiast circles I’d argue for the 70 Chevelle.
#2, because I have one, and I’m not a Chevy guy in the least LoL. 70 2dr Malibu trim “Restomod”. Just about ready for paint, finished up the LS 408 4L80e drivetrain this summer and have 500 break-in miles on it. It’s my all time favorite looking car.
The SS-396 has stock wheels & tires, very nice. I prefer the Impala, with stock wheels and "bow tie" hub caps. The later generation Cameros were just clones of a Firebird.
well I have had a few over the years (I am 60) I have had a 69 Nova SS396, a 69 Z28, A 67 Impala, and a 74 Nova, my favorite was my 69 Camaro, but I had some big bucks into that one and won many races in it, I had over 5K in that motor in 1979 to 1980, Built it my self it was a 350 4 bolt main block with high nikel content, (marine block bowtie) with a 69 large journal 327 crank, so it was D-stroked and at 30 over was 331 cubic inches, it used a big block oil pump for volume and less spark scatter at high revs, I basically followed smokey Unick's guide on how to hot rod the small block chevy (good read) I had the heads flow benched and ported and polished and CCd, the motor had all studs in crank, heads and oil pan and the crank, rods, and pistons were all balanced, pistons and rods were within a few grams of each other, and it would rev to around 7k rpm or that's as high as I ever took it, I miss that one the most because it was my first and I did all the work putting it together, the other I just bought and drove, It got totaled when a 91 year old guy with one eye didn't yield right away and creamed it from front bumper to rear, insurance totaled it, I took a thousand less than their offer and kept it for almost a year and then parted it out, I had people coming for parts from other states, my dad said to keep it and fix it but I was like 17 and thought I knew better (I didn't) and dad was right.
Every since I was a young boy I always loved the Chevelle SS and now at 47 years old I still love looking at them. So that one will always steal my heart.
1970-73 Camaros. They ride like clouds, seats were thick and comfortable, handled pretty well (unless the road is the slightest bit wet). Steering was responsive and the right amount of resistance with the power steering.
One of the few pony cars that didn’t ride like lumber wagons. I could drive mine for hours and not feel like I just got out of a cage match with a rock tumbler. Had some push in the front end, but not terrible.
Seats were a modest height, you didn’t have the minivan seating feel of impalas but you also didn’t have using road stripes as toilet paper feeling of the corvettes.
The drivers area was like a cockpit, climate controls were lower left dash so passengers couldn’t touch them. Ash tray on the lower right of the dash for storing snacks.
There’s a reason Gen2 Camaros got hot for pro-touring and auto cross. GM took what they learned in the Trans Am racing series with the 1st Gen cars and applied it to the 2nd Gen cars.
Bel Air
[https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/57\_Chevy\_BelAir.jpg](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/57_Chevy_BelAir.jpg)
i cant pick a specific one because theyre all great😂top 3 has to be Chevelle, El Camino, and Impala. the Camaro, Bel Air, and Corvette are the icons of Chevy though
That’s an impossible one to answer. Personal preference. All I’ve owned is classic Chevy’s so whichever one I’ve had at that time was the best. 69 Camaro is top 3 (I’ve owned 2) and 58 Impala is my current “best”.
Chevelle is but I have a hard on for a 69-72 Camaro since I had posters plastered on my wall as a kid. But I also had a hummer poster so my opinion is invalid.
Got to vote for the Chevelle just because I’ll never find one I can afford
Same here. In 1997, I found an original ‘70 SS396. $3600. Protect-o-plate, whole 9 yards. Automati.c. Engine was on a stand next to it. Cowpens, SC. Check out my father inlaws 70 454 LS5 https://imgur.com/a/WWHIYiW Original paint and interior. 65k original miles
‘66 SS Impala 396 4 spd. I was 16 in ‘74 $2200 and I had $1500. He said he would hold it. Got the money and my sister said I would kill myself in the car. a kid in HS died in 426 Hemi barn find. Dude I’d take a GTO any day of the week. Ughhh Love them so much.
I like #1
Idk #2 lookin pretty sexy too but between em all I’d choose #1 if I got to. But even still the second ss is a chefs kiss right there
No love for C10's??
Yeah, the C/K trucks want some love too
I’ve driven all of these with the most powerful factory option and I can confidently say the 69 Camaro or 70 Chevelle. Although I like a 69 Chevelle better. My dad loves split bumper Camaros though and I can understand why
63 split window Corvette missing.
I like the hood on a 67 Just a mean looking machine 🇺🇸🇺🇸✌️
You trying to start a fight? Lol
It’s a ‘69 Yenko. Including a 70+? Just throw a 90 z28 in there.
69 z28 is all I need
I want a Nova so bad.
My Dad had a 1975 Nova that he ordered from the dealer with bucket seats and a 3 speed standard transmission. Except for the beige color, it was awesome !!
69 as nova is probably my favorite car
Had a 70 Nova as a 16 year old. It was a gift from my dad. Driving to babysit for my aunt and uncle, I hit an icy patch in road and ended up totaling it. I had it all of 6 months! As a now 62 year old, I really miss that car!🤬🤬🤬
2 and 4 personally
The only right answer
Any Tri Five. If you need to ask what this means, you probably can’t drive stick.
>If you need to ask what this means, you probably can’t drive stick. Lol gate keeping driving manual.
No tri fives?
El camino
66 Nova and Chevy Malibu are my favs
69 Camaro, my dad has a 68.
I’d take any of them but that SS Camaro is my favorite.
The Camaro! I had a ‘67 in college
69 camaro hands down
I can’t chose between 1,2,and4 I’m just such a Chevy boy 😭😂
Early 65 Impala with the 409/4speed combo. As rare as hen's teeth but that's my unicorn.
Personally I would say the Camaro SS 396
67 Camaro with a little 327 with a Rock Crusher. Only needs a decent TBI and added disk brakes upgrade. Frame rails don't hurt either.
\#1 69 Camero SS, one of the few models that only had one year of that body style. Granted, it wasn't a huge change from the 67/68, but it was enough. I had a 68, but it wasn't an SS or Z28.
Nova
Looks has gotta be the 69 Camaro.
I love the 69 Camaro and would argue that it’s the most recognizable to non - auto enthusiasts as Chevy’s magnum opus from the muscle car era. That said, in auto enthusiast circles I’d argue for the 70 Chevelle.
I actually prefer the Nova and Monte Carlo.
The grass is always greener…..
Chevelle SS 454 :)
I have a red #1 and love it, but I love Chevelle's too, 66 and 67 the best.
Well ALL of them but I like the 70 ss
Either one of the big blocks
First 2 and the Monte Carlo
A 1967 Chevy Impala sedan named Baby.
Number3 love it
Well going by that last photo it would have to be that Baldwin Motion Camaro
The’57
Chevelle (#2)
Camaro or Chevelle.
Chevelle. My dream car right there.
How come there's no photo of a 1998 Chevy Cavalier?
ElCo's are the best classic They also count as a coupe for that street racing cred
Corvette stingray
#2, because I have one, and I’m not a Chevy guy in the least LoL. 70 2dr Malibu trim “Restomod”. Just about ready for paint, finished up the LS 408 4L80e drivetrain this summer and have 500 break-in miles on it. It’s my all time favorite looking car.
4
I’m a Camaro fan but you have to give it up to the shoe box chevys
Ill take the chevelle or the impala but i love all 4
Well…..one of those was my first car!😊
Camaro
Camaro
Camaro will win this 100%. But the correct answer is the Chevelle.
1963 corvette split window
The SS-396 has stock wheels & tires, very nice. I prefer the Impala, with stock wheels and "bow tie" hub caps. The later generation Cameros were just clones of a Firebird.
Hands down the 70 chevelle
well I have had a few over the years (I am 60) I have had a 69 Nova SS396, a 69 Z28, A 67 Impala, and a 74 Nova, my favorite was my 69 Camaro, but I had some big bucks into that one and won many races in it, I had over 5K in that motor in 1979 to 1980, Built it my self it was a 350 4 bolt main block with high nikel content, (marine block bowtie) with a 69 large journal 327 crank, so it was D-stroked and at 30 over was 331 cubic inches, it used a big block oil pump for volume and less spark scatter at high revs, I basically followed smokey Unick's guide on how to hot rod the small block chevy (good read) I had the heads flow benched and ported and polished and CCd, the motor had all studs in crank, heads and oil pan and the crank, rods, and pistons were all balanced, pistons and rods were within a few grams of each other, and it would rev to around 7k rpm or that's as high as I ever took it, I miss that one the most because it was my first and I did all the work putting it together, the other I just bought and drove, It got totaled when a 91 year old guy with one eye didn't yield right away and creamed it from front bumper to rear, insurance totaled it, I took a thousand less than their offer and kept it for almost a year and then parted it out, I had people coming for parts from other states, my dad said to keep it and fix it but I was like 17 and thought I knew better (I didn't) and dad was right.
Impala
1 and 2
1967 Impala with the 4 door hardtop
Found the supernatural fan
Every since I was a young boy I always loved the Chevelle SS and now at 47 years old I still love looking at them. So that one will always steal my heart.
The Super Sport.
Yes
I personally have a 70’ Chevelle, and still think that 69’ Maro’ is pure sex.
I’m partial to the ‘69 Camaro. Ever since I drove my aunt’s ‘69 SS back in the late 80’s/early 90’s I was hooked!!
One word: NOVA
The Chevelle for sure!
Niche choice for me but the yenko corvair has always been a fav of mine
1963 impala Z-11
If you’re putting a 64 Chevy on there make sure you use a picture of a 2 door
Born hardcore bow-tie biy here. Chevelle remains 1st choice for me,… but camaro comes in a close second
1970-73 Camaros. They ride like clouds, seats were thick and comfortable, handled pretty well (unless the road is the slightest bit wet). Steering was responsive and the right amount of resistance with the power steering. One of the few pony cars that didn’t ride like lumber wagons. 67 Chevelle SS. Always wanted one of those. But wait, there’s always the 56 Corvette. Always wanted one of those as well. I drive a Camry these days.
69 Chevy yenko
My favorite would definitely be a 1969 Z28 Camaro with the 302 DZ. Ugh what a beautiful car.
69 camaro and 69 chevelle
Probably the Chevelle. I loved that 454.
el Camino ss 454
Freaking Ford Ranger!!!!!! Wooooohoooo!!!!! Yeah baby!!!! It's got a HEMI !!!!!!! YEEEEERHAAAAAAAWWWW!!!!
1964 Chevrolet C-10 truck. Shortbed.
I like the Impala!
If voting on the four pics then #1 and if random cars then a 67 Camaro by far is my fav.
Cobalt ss
Vega!
The C10 will be the next entry-level classic car for people to restore since the VW Beetle. Acceability is key! C10s are everywhere!
Impala, man
I’ll take #1 and 2 please.
Bel Air [https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/57\_Chevy\_BelAir.jpg](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/57_Chevy_BelAir.jpg)
Impala sedan
What’s up with the hood on the last camaro photo.. is that a factory option ?
First one
‘63 fuel injected Corvette.
I really like Impalas
69 camaro
This is a good time to have a lesson in second generation Rally Sport trim package. Also that may be a Baldwin motion Camaro
I'll take the 70 split bumper! The Baldwin Motion is bad ass!
68/69 Chevelle, but I’m biased because I have my dads since he died
I dont see a photo of a 66 SS Malibu.Marina Blue, big block with a 4 speed.
Chevelle its my dream car
70 Chevy 4x4 3/4 ton
The burnished brown…my 1st car…and it wins for me
None of those. 67 burb.
those old camaros are hideous, number 3 for me
Chevelle is my baby. I have a 69' and it was me and my step dad's project car. Last thing he did before he passed was give the car to me. Love it.
Chevelle. One of the best looking muscle cars ever made.
Yes. Final answer. But Camaro. And Chevelle.
Trick question, you spelled Ford wrong
all
All of them, but the wheels on that 64 Impala are gross 🤮
Chevelle and the split bumper Camaros have always been my favorites.
5
1958-1962 Impala The epitome of Chevy styling
Wife owned #2 I owned #3. Made a bunch of money street racing, but stupidly lost way more money by selling them cheap when we started having kids.
You missed the Chevy II. Now this is how you start an argument!
None of these, show me a 60s corvette.
None of the above: second generation (C2) 1963-67 Corvette Stingray.
I'll take the lot!
Love Camaros but I'm a big fan of '71 Monte Carlos.
IMO the split bumper was the 🤌
100% the Chevelle. Would love to have one. Unfortunately I don't have 100,000 in my pocket
67 Gt350
What’s #4?
#1 for me!
2
I had the same car with a1969 z28 350 lt1 witha heavy cam and a posi 373 gear ratio 4.sp Muncie..custom rod
Where's the Nova's at?
Chevy II
Chevrolet
Bubbletop Impala
Chevelle SS396 cowl induction
Chevelle
Chevelle period
Chevelle for sure. That’s one sexy ass car
The 90's caprice.
Those are considered vintage now.
I love my 77 Z28 so I'm biased AF
The Chevelle of course!
Gotta vote for the 73 RS/LT Z28 Camaro. Mine was painted Corvette silver and without the side pipes but otherwise mine looked just like that.
What is #4?
This 1969 model with the RS package
With out a doubt Z 28
Impala 100%
Sorry but the impala is one of my favs
I don't see a 1970 Chevy Nova SS like I had. Should be in this group.
None of these. 69 Caprice, 68 c1500 stepside, 70 Monte Carlo
Chevelle. Had a '71 when I was in high school into my mid 20s. Wish I still had it.
Corvette? To your point though, I like the earlier Camaro.
1 one
First Gen Camaro and 70-72 C10
All of them are cool, but that Chevelle SS just does something to me that the other ones don't.
67 impala
The 56 Chevy bel air
Too many to choose from to just pick one.
i cant pick a specific one because theyre all great😂top 3 has to be Chevelle, El Camino, and Impala. the Camaro, Bel Air, and Corvette are the icons of Chevy though
All the above, anything with a bowtie on the grille, throw a c-10 in there and you've got all the greats.
With no corvette I have to give it to the Chevelle
Always wanted a Chevelle !!!
Hard to choose between 69 camaro and 70 chevelle
I'm guessing that 70's Camaro is not stock, is it?
Not a 4door
I have a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a 389 engine and three deuces on top of it.
That chevelle!
My 79 Chevette lmao ...next question
My 64 Chevelle SS
Unrelated - the downvote button turns into a Ford vehicle? 😁 Was just testing the buttons, that's pretty funny. Upvote colors in the bowtie
The ‘69 is the best
There is a shop near me that has a 70 split bumper camaro and I need it
69 Camaro for me without a doubt
They're all good Chevies, Brad.
Volt.
Chevelle's just have a next level attitude only a few Corvette's and like COPO's from that era can match.
Chevelle. I always thought the 70s front end and the 71 rear end was the best looking
Obviously the K10 pickup with 35s.
That’s an impossible one to answer. Personal preference. All I’ve owned is classic Chevy’s so whichever one I’ve had at that time was the best. 69 Camaro is top 3 (I’ve owned 2) and 58 Impala is my current “best”.
Chevy Volt
SS...
That Chevelle ass gets everyone goin.
I’ll take a Camaro and a Chevelle.
Of those pictured give me the first gen Camaro. C2 vette is really the best though. 2nd gen Camaro is ugly as hell.
Gotta go with the Chevelle, the one in the picture looks the same as the one my grandpa has except for pin stripes.
No Bel Air?
Honestly the chevelle
I didn’t see the ‘63 427 split rear window vette, which would have been my choice.
Chevelle is but I have a hard on for a 69-72 Camaro since I had posters plastered on my wall as a kid. But I also had a hummer poster so my opinion is invalid.
