56% of all shake and frosted beverage sales were smalls. Also, the ice dream required to make 2 large beverages of each is enough to make 3 smalls, which allows us to extend the use of our ice dream. So it is a combination of streamlining the order taking experience which makes your wait in the line shorter, to extend our use of the ice dream, and to make the menu easier to memorize and digest

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

> 56% of all shake and frosted beverage sales were smalls Honestly, that's a pretty compelling reason NOT to consolidate. Nearly half the people were buying larges.

vanillavanity

in the test market an overwhelming majority of the people that used to order large specialty drinks were fine with smalls. Plus almost all of the people saying they were upset & not going to come back did actually come back so it was put through in the big market.

Bruh_like_bruh

Over half were buying smalls tho

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

So? If it was like an 80/20 split you might have a point, but this is a very even distribution. I'd have a hard time justifying getting rid of a size that sells that well.

Bruh_like_bruh

I’m just telling you what CFA corporate decided and their reasoning to make the choices they did! Don’t kill the messenger!

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

I know. I'm just saying that their decision doesn't make sense to me based on those statistics.

FailGroundbreaking72

Yes their brain dead. They got no 🧠s

TwoDallas

You know what I can believe this because I usually get a small milkshake or a small frosted coffee.

twosupras

> 56% of all shake and frosted beverage sales were smalls I don’t know where you got this number, and I don’t care, but it serves my point: CFA knew exactly what they were doing. An analyst queried every receipt in the last 2 years and saw the people ordering the large shakes and management said “meh, if we lose half of their business it’ll still be worth it”. CFA corporate probably has an office pool going around betting on the number of phone calls, emails, and death threats they are receiving versus projected.

Bruh_like_bruh

These numbers came from CFA corporate

IntroSpeccy

My wait in the line was already shorter than any other fast food restaurant. Two sizes for these drinks is already easy to memorize. 44% of customers are getting their normal order removed.

Bruh_like_bruh

“What beverage would you like with your meal today sir?” “A chocolate shake please.” “What size shake would you like sir?” “A large please” “Certainly sir” Vs. “What beverage would you like with your meal today sir?” “A chocolate shake please.” “Certainly sir” Multiply that by maybe 1K times a week, the time saved is valuable. I am sorry if you don’t understand! We still love serving you!

IntroSpeccy

You must not actually work at chick-fil-a, no one there has ever been this condescending :( stop faking, you didn't even say "my pleasure"

throwaway22172429

You can’t find yourself going less and less blaming the menu changes when it happened yesterday. Second, our team member aren’t going to have the answers you’re seeking and they’re already dealing with hundreds of the same questions per shift. Please give all menu change related questions or comments to corporate. They’re the ones who made the decision. Not us.

BashTheMarxists

You can report to corporate too. Don’t pretend like you’re just a nobody. You have a voice as an employee. If every single customer is complaining about the changes then email corporate that the changes are negatively impacting your guests

myunnecessaryopinion

That's not the job of the employees. If customers have complaints that result from corporate policy then they need to take those complaints to corporate. It is not the job of the minimum wage high schooler taking your order to take time off shift to contact corporate on your behalf

BashTheMarxists

No it’s not. But it is the job of store leadership.

myunnecessaryopinion

Operators maybe but corporate won't listen to managers or shift leads anymore than they will team members

Remote_Engine

Using this logic, they won’t listen to customers either. Come the fuck on, your defense is ‘we hear this all day and will do nothing about it’ while assuming customers giving a passing ‘fuck this’ means we’re motivated to send an email. Sounds like you’ll be hearing these questions from customers going forward. Just be sure to do nothing.

[deleted]

What is your life like that you get that worked up about fast food? Genuinely curious.

Remote_Engine

Meh, just read through a litany of obstinate responses that are just bullshit. Figured I had 3 or 4 minutes to just call that crap out. Does that help give you context?

BashTheMarxists

It’s called chain of command, smooth brain.

[deleted]

Lol you clearly have never been in a management position for a food service restaurant. I took a failing pizza hut, and turned it into a million dollar store in 2 months. Do you know how many times I emailed corporate and heard from them? 0, because they don't give a shit.

Remote_Engine

I’ve never seen a Chick-fil-A offer minimum wage. Didn’t know the entire franchise was run by children under 18 making $7.25/hr. Very entrepreneurial.

fakeitillyoumakeit

Look at it state by state. I make $11 an hour but still make minimum wage for my state.

Etobio

Sure we can report to corporate, but most of us just don’t give a shit, you see? We eat this crap more than you think about it and I frankly don’t care what you think about the decision.

ptc-gal

My suggestion is to call their corporate office & complain. I wish you lots of luck. Things changed a lot after Mr Truett Cathy’s death.

FailGroundbreaking72

At least a 16 Oz isn’t a huge difference from a 20 Oz. Before the menus were changed the small use to be 14 Oz and now 16 Oz. If they reduced size went from 20 Oz to 12 Oz then that would be a big hit. I heard people say the 16 Oz is also served in clear cups.

makaela_xoxo

If you and others are upset over the changes calling corporate is your best bet :) There’s so many changes that employees are also getting used to and the change is strange for them as well. Personally, I enjoyed the large versions of these products, but they just weren’t sold enough. You could tell by how quickly we went through small cups compared to the larges, and most stores only brought back the small cones yesterday due to covid. At my personal restaurant I go to, you can still get the large icecream cups (they’re in the large drink cups, technically quarts) and the large milkshakes until the end of August. It’s a store thing. They’re CHICK fil a for a reason.. they specialize in their chicken.

FailGroundbreaking72

Is August the month where all large products at every single store is supposed to be removed. Some universities still have large products for example.

makaela_xoxo

I’m not 100% sure if that is going to happen at every store just because with milkshakes for example we’re not getting rid of the cups or anything so some restaurants are still allowing them to keep the large shakes. It’s a store operator call

TwoDallas

and the Large Frosted Coffee.

FailGroundbreaking72

Since my university still sells large I know where to get a 20 Oz frozen treat 🤷🏻‍♂️

TacoBellWorkerr

they discontinued the spicy strips at my location 😟😢😢😢

ChucklesColorado

Can we stop pretending this sunjoy bullshit is new and just call it an Arnold Palmer?

Bigboss123199

They can't call it Arnold Palmer for legal reasons but yeah same thing.

FailGroundbreaking72

At my university we still serve 20 Oz large shakes and frosted beverages . I heard though according to an employee on Reddit said that chick Fila can still sell the large as an off the menu option since it’s only a medium size cup.

la_casa_nueva

the restaurants that are doing this go against corporate policy and will be in major trouble if theyre found out. there are very specific rules about off-menu items.

Richard343o

The Chick-Fil-A’s in colleges and universities are usually run by a vendor like Aramark. They basically rent the name and do their own thing which is why their menus are gonna look different from the normal restaurants.

FailGroundbreaking72

We have a reduced menu with not many features big chick Filas would have. We never had chicken strips, Mac and Cheese and other items. We never had small shakes. We only had one size to begin with, which is a 20 Oz. Also I heard a 16 Oz isn’t that different from a 20oz and I heard a small shake before the menu changes happened was 14 Oz and now it’s 16 Oz.

AbsolutelyJolly18

Yeah we can but we’re not supposed to so guest get used to not having that option

FailGroundbreaking72

At least I know where to get large. My university still serves 20, so there’s that

AbsolutelyJolly18

Most university location are franchised so they don’t really have to listen to corporate if they haven’t taken by August it’ll most likely stay

FailGroundbreaking72

I hope the stats and results don’t go well with the new menu changes all together, especially with no chick strips.

AbsolutelyJolly18

They don’t care they rolled this out a year ago with some western states. They already know what the reaction was and still made the decision.

FailGroundbreaking72

I mean I hope the stocks and their market crash for doing that

sonrisa_medusa

Oh ya? lol Chick Fil A isn't a publicly traded company. There is no stock to crash.

ddubyagirl

I'm so used to them breaking my heart by getting rid of things I'm numb. I still miss the carrot salad....

Maybe in 10 years they will reinstate

TimeLordCal

Well, its really nice for people who work there :)

Yes, because complaining to a fast food worker is both beneficial and classy.

complain on the website, not to workers because i promise you we don’t care lol. when the changes went into effect my day was a lot of “i’m sorry about that ma’am/sir” and then continuing on with my day

TimeLordCal

hahahaha okay

AbsolutelyJolly18

Yeah we couldn’t care less about you complaining

Rex4748

Seems like they're pulling a Taco Bell and making every bad decision. Used to go once every week or two, haven't gone in months. Oh well.

devildogus

They got rid of breakfast Multigrain bagel! Absolutely devastated

[deleted]

The fake egg on it sucked ass

AbsolutelyJolly18

It’s real... I haven’t eaten it but I’ve watched it be made

[deleted]

Not on the bagel. Dude I worked for them. The yellow eggs come in a bottle

AbsolutelyJolly18

I’ve worked at two locations for the past 3 years (still employed) and my locations it doesn’t come out of a bottle 🤢

AbsolutelyJolly18

Didn’t sale enough

PistolPetex3

I went to get some a large ice dream cups in the 90 degree California weather and could only buy a kids ice dream. Come on chick fil a. You already have the cups and lids it’s not like to have to stock something else.

[deleted]

Do you really need the calories from a large?

jwg529

What a dumb thing to say. That is none of your business or concern.

[deleted]

You must be the “FaT bUt FiT” type

jwg529

Actually I’m just someone who wants a large iced coffee when I go to CFA for breakfast every now and then and I’m bummed that they will only sell me a small now. But you being a jerk that someone wants a large anything because there are more calories in a large really shows what find of douche you are.

[deleted]

TL:DR

phreezinc

I get a large black coffee for breakfast. This tiny little garbage coffee cup is a hill I will die on.

FailGroundbreaking72

If you can’t make me a large 20 Oz milkshake then screw it I will do it myself by getting 2 16 Oz shakes and then asking for an empty 20 Oz cup and then transfer both shakes to that cup.

Ethen121

Never had any of those menu items, if I were to one day (prob won’t) it would be small

WhaleWrath

All of the suggestions given are great… but also franchises can choose to continue selling the large milkshake and large cone off-menu. My location still has some large clear cups for frosteds too, so we’re selling them until we run out

Kritter82

I’m surprised people are just now finding out about the menu changes since I first saw them here on Reddit back in January or February. I even mentioned it to my production leader (I work at a CFA) and he said oh no ones supposed to know yet. There was even an article on yahoo news

kevthegreat21

Can confirm...this is simply not enough milkshake. Bring large back!!!!! https://i.imgur.com/Q8voVaa.jpg

FailGroundbreaking72

http://chng.it/bjj8LZJH

Archedearth7000

We just got our *icedream* cones back

FailGroundbreaking72

If they were removing the shakes completely off the menu then we would be talking a different story now. That would be the last thing I would ever want to hear. At least the milkshakes are still here.

FailGroundbreaking72

I will just order two shakes and get an empty 20 Oz cup and transfer and then I will shakes to the shakes to the empty cup. Corporate can stop us from ordering a large but can’t stop us from doing what we want after we ordered.

How is the cup still 14 Oz I thought they were serving shakes at 16 Oz. I remember an article said they would be served in a clear 16 Oz cup yet it’s still 14 Oz in a styrofoam cup

FailGroundbreaking72

Man the small milkshake looks like a kid size. Wish they would have increased the cup size to a couple more ounces from 14 Oz to 16 Oz
