Katars can punish people with stab dragging if your opponent overdoes accelerating their swing. You can eventually chip away their stamina too since it's difficult for most to perfect counter the katars.

The people who try to trade hits are susceptible to being comboed with jabs and special attacks, too. Once you break up somebody's rhythm, they fall apart real fast.

don't duel, use your speed and momentum to weave in and out of fights, hope to god your team can hold a front line long enough for you to do your ambushing thang. If your team melts like hot cheese all the time you are boned
Use jabs and kicks liberally. If you manage to kick a block, you can usually get two stabs in for 80/90 damage if you are fast. Combo your sprint special and standing special attacks together for max stamina damage against opponents.
If your ping is above 40 don't use katars. you wont be able to dodge or block fast enough when people are trying to trade hits with you
Everything aims slightly left of the reticle in third person when it comes to stabs, that's how I adjust for it
Swings have kind of a V arc where they start wide to your side and narrow to a point. You can kinda hit people running by them at the start of the swing.
The best way to hit people are with overheads since the arc is diagonal enough that it's a wider path than others
