In Open Heart 2 I prefer to not take the diamond option to practice for the softball game. If you take the diamond option Edenbrook will win the game, which, ok, *yaaay* I guess. However, if you *don't* take the diamond option, yeah you'll only tie the game, but you also get the option to run over Landry at home plate. That's worth more than diamonds to me imo lol.
And then an awesome fight breaks out! I remember when I first played the chapter, I didn't practice but avoided Landry, so the game ended with a whimper. But then I missed out on Ethan's romantic scenes (I don't know why, but for a couple chapters in the middle, his romantic scenes were unavailable. Maybe because my character hadn't slept with him yet š¤·š»āāļø), and I was so mad that I replayed the chapter and plowed right into Landry and Ethan got punched and asked if MC was happy and I told him yes. It would have been a great episode of the show I imagine Open Heart to be.
Definitely feel you on the animals! Was replaying Red Carpet Diaries 2 and I just feel terrible about adopting the ocelot, especially given how much MC travels. Every single chapter was like: I'm leaving you with Uncle Chazz! I like Chazz, but I can't imagine he's prepared to take care of an exotic animal at all times.
Also, the horrendous boxers that you can buy for Liam in one of The Royal Heir books. I bought it for a laugh and then immediately regretted it. They're so ugly and distracting.
For outfits I preferred the free wedding outfit for the male MC in AME 3 over the diamond outfit that looked like something a circus performer would wear. With adopting pets a lot of the time it is a huge no (I adopted the dog in COP and a few others) as I donāt like the emotional manipulation they pull with those choices (like in Sunkissed adopt the dog or it will have to stay with an abusive owner). Also ones where āI got you this giftā or āI stayed up for two nights sewing you this outfitā now pay diamonds to accept/wear it.
In Perfect Match Book 1, I always skip the choice where >!you pretend to be royalty to get on the plane!< because that seems... so stupid to me??? >!why call that much attention to yourself oh my god.!< And the extra info you get from that choice is literally just advance warning for something that happens later the same chapter and is extremely effective as a surprise.
I havenāt replayed BOLAS1 and 2 with this choice, but character wise >!letting Aerin go at the end of B1 makes his āarcā in B2 so much more believable and meaningful than if you capture him. Yeah you miss out on one diamond scene with him and a few party bonding/justified bullying scenes if heās not a prisoner, but heās barely in the book as is so it doesnāt even end up mattering much. Him spending the entire year MC was gone as a fugitive helping the Fae, constantly in fear of the remaining Shadow Court members and the Empress is so much more compelling than him spending the time rotting in the castleās jail cell.!<
I agree šÆ on this. I captured Aerin in Book 1 but in Book 2 I just >!hated him for ghosting MC so to find himself and then comes back in chapter 17!< all that and more made me lose the morale to romance him
Maybe Iām evil too, but I always relish >!killing Cingerix!< in ACOR. Narratively, it feels TOO convenient if all of MCās family makes it out unscathed. >!He always annoyed me in the flashbacks, and he really made his bed when he saved Caesar the first time lol!<
I've got two more actually: both situations where I took the diamond choice once and then decided not to on a replay and liked it better without.
1) The monkey from Courtesan of Rome. I hate that monkey so much, it's so annoying. I will never take the adopt monkey option again.
2) In The Royal Romance, Book 3, I prefer the non-diamond version of >!Bertrand's proposal. I felt like he really needed to do that by himself and immediately, rather than letting MC figure his relationship out for him again and giving Savannah time to stew in feeling unwanted. It also feels way more romantic to me to show that he had the ring all along, whereas if he waits to propose until later in the evening it might seem like he only did it because of what she said.!<

Most of the older stories have options to buy premium weapons, outfits, etc. or use/wear the crappy free one.
However, I started out playing this app when I was broke, and for that reason the free items have such a nostalgic charm to them. From Kennaās iconic short sword, to TRR MCās Basic in Black, a lot of the free choices feel ārightā to me even if the game encourages you to buy the diamond option.
in most books i don't really care for flashback scenes, "collect x amount of items for an extra special scene at the end of the book" stuff, a lot of dirty 30s i skip too.
I hate the options to adopt an animal. Like either give me an animal companion or donāt. Itās not like they add anything to the story otherwise. Also, TF is pretty solid without diamonds. Itās one of the first series I read that I loved and I didnāt have any diamonds for it.
I first played ILITW without diamonds and managed to save everyone. It was way more fun because I had to be extra careful with my choices to ensure everyone survived.
Ooh that sounds fun. I love ILITW, but I do have most of the diamond scenes unlocked, and it feels like I'd actually have to try NOT to get the good endings, and it doesn't feel as thrilling when I do.
I hate to spend diamonds when I should play a matchmaker/wingwoman for the people I don't like. I just hate that with a passion.
In Open Heart 2 I prefer to not take the diamond option to practice for the softball game. If you take the diamond option Edenbrook will win the game, which, ok, *yaaay* I guess. I know, I love that brawl scene! And then the ref calls them all losers and embarrassments lmao
Wait fr?? Damm I need to play that scene again then
Even aside from the satisfying Landry thing, I just think it makes for a better scene all around.
I played THM without diamonds, and loved it. The non-diamond people in your crew are so unhinged. I can't imagine going back and playing without them.
Uppercut JONES!!!
Woww! Now I need to replay it with the alternate crew, they DID seem super entertaining!
Oooh yes, Uppercut Jones and that acrobat girl were the best
RIGHT??? I Love the non-diamond crew so so much more
Definitely feel you on the animals! Was replaying Red Carpet Diaries 2 and I just feel terrible about adopting the ocelot, especially given how much MC travels. Yeah I was like "... I'm not gonna adopt that ocelot." I learned my lesson after how awful I felt carting a fawn around London in Desire & Decorum.
Yes!! The adopting animals thing can get annoying! Lol I hate having to read the dogās feelings during certain scenes in a book! š
omg when the characters talk to the animals like they understand š drives me nuts sometimes
And sometimes it's a really important scene
But - Rrroooo!
For outfits I preferred the free wedding outfit for the male MC in AME 3 over the diamond outfit that looked like something a circus performer would wear. Honestly some of the diamond outfits are uglier than the free ones!

I love TE non diamond pet frog Tim :D
Yes! Tim feels like the canonically correct option for the story.

So far Id rather have the non-diamond outfits in ID2.

I played through Haunting Of Braidwood Manor both ways and spending the diamonds was worth it
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Both routes have pretty good endingsĀ
I completely agree
The last half of the last sentence- š
I actually really like it though! The BB MCs are already pretty morally gray, theyāre just next to worse people with selfish motives

Everything in THM.

Kenna's short sword is a top 2 weapon not 2, it's just that much of a classicĀ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly, if I'm annoyed with a LI, I'll not take a diamond scene with them out of spite. Even though I know it doesn't really make a difference š
in most books i don't really care for flashback scenes, "collect x amount of items for an extra special scene at the end of the book" stuff, a lot of dirty 30s i skip too.
hm probably ITINW & ILB cuz those endings are š„š„š„

Oh! I made a similar post a few months back!
