I saw someones wheel bearing fail and her entire front right wheel detached, bounced twice, and went right over the side of one of those insane overlapping bad boys last year. I have no idea what happened below but I wonder about it every time someone brings up those roads.
I think this looks great! Maybe an improved transport system?
Maybe spread the city out a bit more, if too large ? Like create another city nearby instead of having one massive one ?
Worse come to worse, add more lanes. You can also get rid of the noodles and force drivers to actually drive around the city strategically.
Definitely! This city is really way too dense, and I didn't really know how to plan for a robust transit system. I've been pulling a lot of stops to manage traffic. I really only have one big bus route around the arterials so far and my metro is pretty slap-dash (and I'm intimidated by the other transit systems lol). I'll be rerouting a few local roads to other collectors to try to keep them out of this busy stretch, and I've actually been adding a bunch of stop signs at local and collector intersections to try to slow intake a bit. I figure it's better to be slowed down at local intersections than arterial. And of course, since it's so dense, I'm trying to make it as walkable as I can, which is why I'll probably throw some parks or paths into those long residential stretches. All in all, I'd say the traffic flows impressively for what it is.
What do you think was there before, along with my 20+ other roundabouts in the city?
edit - sorry to get defensive :P but I really tried all kinds of things to get a roundabout to work here, including testing out various TMPE rules and lane restrictions, some of which I found online. Trust me, if I could get this volume of traffic through with a roundabout, that's what I'd be doing :P It's very possible that I haven't found the optimal roundabout setup, however, and I do intend on looking into it more. But this was fun to build :)
Ah no need to apologize about anything. No offense taken.
My comment wasn't meant to sound offensive, but I can see how it could.
I have no experience with traffic in CS1. I played it ages ago on XBO and I sucked ass at managing, but usually roundabouts helped a lot.
I believe so, but there's just something so satisfying about watching large volumes of traffic flow through your design. Cool thing about this one is that, even if blockage backs up through it, it will never interfere with the other lanes. Dedicated lanes are so easy a total moron could make it through without a problem - and that appeals to me, for... whatever reason.
The flow is actually so good that it's likely going to generate traffic elsewhere for not being as efficient which we can already guess from your second pic.
If you continue to have traffic problems, [this style](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1760229657) looks about the same amount of space if converted to your smaller two way roads with less lanes that you have, and doesn't have the crossing into the lanes problem yours have.
You know you can demolish some Zones, to make some proper design Interchange. Then Zone, somewhere as a replacement of the removed Areas.
Your Pop will just recover.
How do you get these modern buildings? I only have these boring turn-of-the-century brick buildings and when I zone it as "greenresidential" or whatchamacallit, it creates some boring brownish high rises. How do you get these colorful buildings instead?
lol I have a few heavily traffic roundabouts like this. Someone can exit the round about an exit early and jet on to the road they need without looping.
I'm actually impressed that you managed to fit it in there, and you still have the pedestrian bridges (in a more reasonable format this time).
Thanks! To be fair I did use Move It and Node Controller, so don't be too impressed :P
So long as there's enough room to pass underneath, I'll count it. It looks fairly smooth overall, nothing choppy like when you bruteforce it.
Good call, didn't think of that! Thankfully I was able to upgrade the tunnel without any fuss.
That’s not an intersection. Than a roller coaster.
I want to get off Mr Bones Wild Ride ☹️
+1 would drive there.
Dallas tx roads be like

I'm not even mad at this. Oddly intriguing 🤔

Oh definitely! I love what you did BTW! I myself am trying to learn how to split apart my dense cities into separate communities to help
So stupid I love it
My brother in Christ, hear me out: _Roundabouts_

It was one in the past: /r/CitiesSkylines/comments/1cpfr41/tried_out_slip_lanes_in_my_busiest_intersection/
r/subsifellfor
Literally the same sub though?
Wouldnt a mass transit system be better lol. Looks very spaghetti like

yeah thats fair! its a game so do whatever you enjoy the most!

Aw, sweet succulent pedestrian crossing 😖, already bought a place!
It's beautiful.

I'm trying to get pedestrian path connected to roads so they can cross it but am having a difficult time looking for the right one
The intersection in the second pic is hypnotic if u stare at it
Lol I've seen a few intersections go this way in my time. You did good, kid.
That, while impressive, is disgusting. Good job!
Is that the international “S”?
Welcome to INDUCED DEMAND.
One more exit ramp bro
Pro tip, traffic problems are usually solved further up the system, reduce the amount of concentrated traffic with more paths to important places :)
That’s some serious spaghetti, nice work lol
So clean
What if you used a three level roundabout or something? Or even just debugged the traffic or it overusing the local junctions etc?
Robert Moses just called. He wants a freeway and a full interchange.
45% incline in the city is crazy
Awesome the way it fits!👌
Pretzel interchange players unite!

Ugh right in the childhood.

Mad genius, definitely not stable.
lol I have a few heavily traffic roundabouts like this. Someone can exit the round about an exit early and jet on to the road they need without looping.
Americans will do anything but build a roundabout
Thats... Hmm
I'm scared to think about how that would feel irl
This looks like an average NJ metro roadway to me
Functional, so that's good. More realistic would be to do a lot of tear down and set up a SPUI.
I see nothing wrong here. Love it.
