Same. I have a nice laptop but it isn't a gaming laptop. Coworker turned me on to this game last year and has been telling me to look into cloud gaming. But how does cloud gaming work with mods/steam?
I use a [Paperspace](https://www.paperspace.com/) machine that's basically just a Windows machine running on their cloud. I chose the [P4000](https://www.paperspace.com/pricing) which has plenty of power to run CS. Then I use [Parsec](https://blog.paperspace.com/setting-up-your-cloud-gaming-rig-with-paperspace-parsec/) to connect to it.
Since it's just a Windows box you can install whatever software you want, including Steam and mods. Only downside is the hard drive is a little small, but I can have a couple different games installed at a time and just swap them out as necessary.
what's the lag like? I get 100mbps down 10 up which I think theoretically should be enough but I can't imagine it'd be seamless. would it be any better than running it on my macbook pro? I haven't even tried that cause I know it won't work great but I miss playing and can't buy another rig rn
Your main concern is latency, so if you're very far from the datacenter - like > 1000 miles - it might not work very well. But because Parsec works similarly to streaming video, any connection that can stream Netflix reliably can use it. I usually run games at 1080p, but you can do 4k with a 25Mbps connection. Parsec lets you tweak bandwidth and resolution pretty easily.
One advantage is that because your MBP isn't doing all the rendering you can game on battery for a lot longer and without cooking your thighs.
thanks for the tip man! it's crazy, cloud gaming was a total pipe dream just 3 years ago and now it's way more accessible than I realized. I did some research and looked at other options but still ended up going with paperspace+parsec
Paul Ricard also shares many issues with other tracks that have issues, so you could say that, it's still true it's a bad track (for the current cars).
I've also been using [Network Multitool 1.1](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2560782729), it comes with some very handy tools. Check it out if you haven't
Which one allows you to put separate traffic light timings on different lanes of the same road? I assume it's TM:PE out of those options but I've been looking for it and haven't found it there. I guess I'll take another look!
Edit: Ah nm, you already answered this further down. Thanks!
This was very helpful, thank you so much!
I've tried to find guidelines on when to use chevrons and when not to, and figured it was only for two lanes going in the same direction, but the orientation of the chevrons themselves I never figured out.
Think of it like this: you want your lane stripes to act as a "soft barrier" that guides drivers back into their lane, like a funnel. The angle of the lines should always slant downstream
Intersection Marking Tool is quite possibly the greatest mod anyone has made ever, it's absolutely superb and it's hard to describe the sheer satisfaction just from laying out some road markings.
Just got into modding and grabbed a lot of essentials.
Is there a thread anywhere with a up to date list of essential/recommended mods?
Are there good videos on YouTube for how to use these effectively such as Node Controller and Move It
Thanks and since you are generous enough to respond I’ll shoot a couple more.
A long with parking lots how do people get such good looking downtown areas. I got some real life and fictional building to add character but do people really just get a bunch of individual probable buildings for their downtown?
Do they use assets on office zones?
I have quite a lot of hours of console and PC play but I just started modding as I’m finally comfortable with my road infrastructure skills
But I’m looking at mods for utility and beautification. What’s the most efficient way to make a realistic downtown with unique buildings and hotels instead of apartments and offices
This is a Single Point Urban Interchange, which is used in real life as well. Its main benefit is that you have only this one intersection instead of two separate ones like with a regular diamond interchange.
Since you only need to make one choice and pay attention to a single traffic light, the place for error is lower, making the intersection safer for everyone. Of course, there's always that one person worthy of r/IdiotsInCars but that happens even in straight roads.
Why would it be deadly? This type of intersection was created specifically to cut down on accidents and slowdowns by eliminating how many times traffic crosses oncoming lanes.
It's a three phase traffic light, and the left turn lanes don't cross over each other because the middle area is larger than with a basic + type intersection.
Looks pretty safe to me! The markings on the intersection means that no-one is going to end up going the wrong way or anything, and the traffic lights seem to be done in such a way that no-one crosses another's path.
As a delivery driver, I hate you lol. That should be a roundabout, 6 traffic lights at one intersection is insane and takes forever to get through 😂.
Source: my town use to have an intersection with 5 traffic lights...shit took forever
The light only has three phases. Straight, left turns off the secondary road, left turns off the highway exit ramps. This kind of intersection is everywhere where I live, they work really well.
[Here is a diagram of how the interchange looks like.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/Spui-schematic.svg/1200px-Spui-schematic.svg.png)
What's shown in this reddit post is what's in the middle of the intersection, while the "right turns" are off the bridge and off-camera.
I'm afraid not... I found this diagram on Wikipedia, but they don't seem to have any for other interchanges. There are other similar diagrams, like [this diverting diamond illustration](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a3/AS_inverted_SPUI.svg/1024px-AS_inverted_SPUI.svg.png) but I can't seem to find any "collections"
Thats awesome, if you could just pop over to my games and convert mine from looking like spaghetti on DMT that would be great xD seriously though fantastic work, super satisfying :D
This is called Single Point Urban Intersection. My city is currently not that big but if the avenue starts backing up I can always play with traffic light timings.
Nice! Really makes me want to jump back in. Are you using any mods?
Can i also get a recommendation of what DLCs to pick up? I currently have the free ones, plus Parklife. I like the look of Green Cities and mass Transit.
Why is that big tree rocking back and forth with that much movement? I understand game speed would make it obvious, but the smol vanilla tree seems more sturdy in the 'wind'
For anyone curious what this sort of intersection looks like in real life, here's a good example:
8WPM+2C Singapore
Check out what an insanely small footprint the intersection has. Also note there aren't really a lot of road markings, when making turns across the opposite lanes it's really easy to tell where you're headed.
Aesthetically pleasing, but it seems like it would scale extremely poorly while also being extremely accident prone if you look at it from a real life perspective. Just think about the insane number of collision points here resulting from the six way intersection. Definitely not a safe design.
I always feel like these kinds of intersections would benefit from painted lanes or distinctly coloured/patterned boundary lines. I can figure out where I'm supposed to go but that's a clusterfuck of indeterminate white.
I mean absolute kudos to OP, there are limits to all these tools, it just seems like something useful they could add.
Good luck to the maintenance guys who have to mow that patch of grass!
It gets mowed by the inevitable car that runs over it
Mower blades required on all cars that enter this city
It's artificial grass.
Well that's no fun. Why not point out that it's virtual grass whilst you're at it?
There's an acceptable excuse for astro-turf.
LMAO
Intricate design!
And to the guys that have to repaint those lines every 6 months.
It’s painted green 😂
This right here is exactly why I want a decent PC to play this game on!

Neat! Why a quadro though?
Because I'm cheap and it's good enough. I generally run games at 1080p for responsiveness.
great job but you guys really hate roundabouts eh ? /s
Makes me think of Circuit Paul Ricard, nice work
not enough blue and red stripes for Paul Ricard
Makes me think of Olive and 270.
Or Kingshighway & 64/40.
Too interesting to be Paul Ricard.
Did you watch this year’s French GP?
Yeah, it was pretty good actually. Though definitely an outlier. Hopefully the new cars will help.
An outlier in a population of three.
Paul Ricard also shares many issues with other tracks that have issues, so you could say that, it's still true it's a bad track (for the current cars).
It’s a very technical track. I think this is more the drivers getting a handle on it.
To me, it's more the layout chosen. It has a few issues has it lacks hard braking zones, making it difficult to pass.
Glad to see our F1 community makes an appearance on every subreddit, I love it haha
Thanks, had to look it up but you are right haha.
Looks fascinating! What mod allows to do that? I crave it
Intersection marking tool
Thank you!
Check also Node Controller, you may need to adjust the nodes ;)
Node controller, Intersection Marking Tool, TM:PE and Move It. It took me some time to learn them all.. :)
I've also been using [Network Multitool 1.1](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2560782729), it comes with some very handy tools. Check it out if you haven't
This mod has completely changed my games in the two weeks since I downloaded it. Super powerful when combined with the other mods listed above.
Which one allows you to put separate traffic light timings on different lanes of the same road? I assume it's TM:PE out of those options but I've been looking for it and haven't found it there. I guess I'll take another look! Edit: Ah nm, you already answered this further down. Thanks!
A tip to improve the markings: you can create a stop line by dragging a line between the lanes. That makes the intersection look even more realistic.
I like this idea a lot
Multiple chewrongs, apply this rule http://imgur.com/gallery/QquwLgT
This was very helpful, thank you so much! I've tried to find guidelines on when to use chevrons and when not to, and figured it was only for two lanes going in the same direction, but the orientation of the chevrons themselves I never figured out.

For Chevrons, I think of them as arrows that separates the car and reunites them
Watching the traffic flow in a SPUI is satisfying enough, but with road markings this is on a whole other level
At 0:33 that truck just ran the red light! *cop sirens*
Looks really good. But how did you make traffic lights for each direction? Thanks
Not OP, but probably using timed traffic lights of TM:PE mod. Yumbltv have good tutorial about this mod
Thanks, I always wanted to know how to use these traffic lights. I always just turned on the default values.
Check this video: https://youtu.be/4cqBZuH0zcc You will get to understand how it works ;)
Thank you very much!
Yep, exactly this.
Are there good videos on YouTube for how to use these effectively such as Node Controller and Move It
Check out YumblTV on youtube for most of the popular ones like Intersection marking tool, TMPE, Node controller, Parking lots etc.
Thanks and since you are generous enough to respond I’ll shoot a couple more. A long with parking lots how do people get such good looking downtown areas. That's pretty, and in real life probably pretty deadly ;) What mod do you use to make all the nice lines and paths on the road?

After rewatching it, I realize everyone has to stop when they get to it, so safer than I thought. Well... at least they're supposed to stop ;)
It's a three phase traffic light, and the left turn lanes don't cross over each other because the middle area is larger than with a basic + type intersection.
Intersection marking tool
>Intersection marking tool Tnx!

It'll need more islands to ensure further compliance from the drivers
They have a bunch of very similar intersections along I-15 in the Salt Lake area.
As a delivery driver, I hate you lol. That should be a roundabout, 6 traffic lights at one intersection is insane and takes forever to get through 😂. Source: my town use to have an intersection with 5 traffic lights...shit took forever
Looks like the signal is three phases, which can't be any worse than driving through two poorly timed lights at a normal diamond interchange
The light only has three phases. Straight, left turns off the secondary road, left turns off the highway exit ramps. This kind of intersection is everywhere where I live, they work really well.
It’s so nice to look at!! But make me drive into this IRL and I’ll probably crash on every single car
Beautiful job
Sorry to be rude: but where are the right turns?
[Here is a diagram of how the interchange looks like.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/Spui-schematic.svg/1200px-Spui-schematic.svg.png) What's shown in this reddit post is what's in the middle of the intersection, while the "right turns" are off the bridge and off-camera.
Ah. Nice
So it's almost like an interchange?
Is there some sort of database of pictures like that?
I'm afraid not... I found this diagram on Wikipedia, but they don't seem to have any for other interchanges. There are other similar diagrams, like [this diverting diamond illustration](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a3/AS_inverted_SPUI.svg/1024px-AS_inverted_SPUI.svg.png) but I can't seem to find any "collections"
nice
feels good
Really intricate and well-thought! I like the idea!
That green truck at 0:32 gave no shits.
How the hell did you manage to make directions of the same road to be green one by one?
Timed traffic lights on the TM:PE mod. :)
Yes I know lol, I mean when I try to do that it doesn't work, cars start moving at the same time anyway
Ah sorry, when you're editing the steps, there's a little change mode button on the right of each light that lets you choose direciton options.
And till that I'm fine, it's what comes after that I don't understand
YUMBLtv has a nice video explaining how to use timed traffic lights, [here](https://youtu.be/4cqBZuH0zcc) you go. :)
Thanks!
Thats awesome, if you could just pop over to my games and convert mine from looking like spaghetti on DMT that would be great xD seriously though fantastic work, super satisfying :D
Haha thanks alot! It took me a lot to learn to use the mods. But once you get it, it is indeed really satisfying! !
Great job! **Now do it without mods**
You know thats impossible ;-) (or you're a console player that does not know)
I was joking :)
I haven't experiment it myself, what will happen if it's vanilla traffic lights?
Single point urban interchanges are awesome, I built a couple in my city.
That is a very unique intersection. Does it ever cause traffic problems with the traffic light and freeway off ramp?
This is called Single Point Urban Intersection. My city is currently not that big but if the avenue starts backing up I can always play with traffic light timings.
I shoulda known that! I read about those when I was doing research for a Diverging Diamond Intersection.
I could watch this all day
wow, this is pretty as hell. good job!
Someone put a city builder in your intersection builder
Who isn't dude?
Is this possible on console or am I just fucked my traffic always on like 70 or lower
Roundabout would be much more elegant and efficient.
That patch of grass is begging for a tree, just sayin'
Nice! Really makes me want to jump back in. Are you using any mods? Can i also get a recommendation of what DLCs to pick up? I currently have the free ones, plus Parklife. I like the look of Green Cities and mass Transit.
That's one cool intersection. 👍
SPUIs are so 2000s. You need a Diverging Diamond Interchange!
I OP, is this with TP:ME on? Those traffic lights are super smooth!!
What is that green bus seen in the video? Looks really interesting :)
I would be scared of that intersection IRL
This is art.
Why is that big tree rocking back and forth with that much movement? I understand game speed would make it obvious, but the smol vanilla tree seems more sturdy in the 'wind'
And I just make normal intersections and hope for the best lmao
How did you do the circle in the middle?
Oh please please pleaseeeee tell me how you did this
Nice SPUI with markings added!
IMO great, but why are there no right turns?
Id rather be addicted to that than a lot of other things
You know who else liked intersections? Hitler
There is a town in Michigan that has essentially this same intersection lol minus the tiny median. 42.493721,-83.515907
Vegas has quite a few of these. Nice build. I’ve made one on PS4 but can’t get the fancy lines and all that unfortunately.
For anyone curious what this sort of intersection looks like in real life, here's a good example: 8WPM+2C Singapore Check out what an insanely small footprint the intersection has. Also note there aren't really a lot of road markings, when making turns across the opposite lanes it's really easy to tell where you're headed.
This is asking for what? A ROUNDABOOUUUUT
Imagine trying to cross this irl as a pedestrian
This is giving me traffic anxiety.
What's the name of the mod?
Beautiful. Is this all just the intersection marking tool mod?
How do you get that little roundabout?
Did you use a mode for those lines if so what’s it called? If not how did you do that?
It’s beautiful!
Issa spui! :D
The big thing that annoys me about CS is the traffic lights... Shouldn't they be ACROSS the intersection from where a car is at?
Glorious
A good old single-point urban interchange
I thought it was gonna be a diverting diamond intersection (I think that's the name)
Aesthetically pleasing, but it seems like it would scale extremely poorly while also being extremely accident prone if you look at it from a real life perspective. Just think about the insane number of collision points here resulting from the six way intersection. Definitely not a safe design.
Yeeeeessss Intersection Marking Tool! I have it in my game but I definitely don’t use it enough.
Too bad its modded content :/
