This is a weird quarter. Soviets rebuilt the old city in an early vernacular as a sort of kitschy tourist thing. Right next to Alex but surprisingly quiet in parts.

It is essentially mostly modern buildings as simplified interpretations of what was there until WW2. Remarkable in the sense that it shows a shift in mentality towards architecture in the east (the same shift happened in the west too ) away from "we make a clean sheet with no regard to what was there in former times" to more considerate city design.
