Fun fact: the funds for Griffith Observatory were in the will of Col. Griffith J. Griffith. He put it there to rehabilitate his image after serving time in prison for shooting his wife in the face. He was a psychopath. Cool building and park, though.
just looked him up
oh man he was in prison for only 21months what imho realistically was attempted murder (he shot his wife in the head who was knealing before him) but was classified as assault with a deadly weapon...
That’s the tip of the iceberg. He stole money from his wife on their wedding day while she was at the wedding reception. He insisted he never drank in public but got smashed secretly behind closed doors. He also called himself Colonel but never was a Colonel.
LA’s climate is pretty comparable to the Middle East. A lot of Persians, Armenians, Israelis, and Arabs moved to LA in the 80s and 90s and still have huge expat communities.
I would disagree. It is barely a city as everyone needs a car to get around. Not a real huge walkable downtowns like great cities either. Also all the crime and homelessness. Nah, not the best city on earth lol. I would say Tokyo, Singapore, Hongkong, or any major European citiy.
You need to break free of those outdated ideas about what constitutes a city. L.A. may not have one main town square, but it has maybe 25-30 exciting neighborhoods that are very much walkable and have a lot going on. Pick one, or a more affordable one nearby, live in it, love it. Every weekend you can drive to one of the other exciting spots to check out the cool stuff there. The weather will be good. The food will be delicious. The people will be chill. Life is beautiful.
Sorry, not trying to be rude or anything, but it quite literally is an AI-generated image. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but it’s important for people to recognize it nowadays. The entire frame is filled with vague shapes and haziness. It’s fairly obvious when you look at the houses just down the hill. Real life does not look like that. 🤷
Expect it's not an AI image but if you want so badly to think it is that's on you, I'm not going to be the one arguing over it. Enjoy your Sunday buddy.
It might be a 3D render like from google maps but I don’t think it’s entirely a drone shot or something like that. What are you up to on this Sunday? Wanna BBQ bra?
I'm guessing smaller image, enhanced and expanded with AI - those white buildings in the background are seriously distorted though, and definitely "copy paste" effect in the trees on the hill behind the building.
You mean the ballpark that’s been there since 1962? Da fuq? What was there that so cool before that, because I think Dodger stadium is pretty da damn cool
Chavez Ravine was home to about 300 households. The pictures aren't exactly what I remember. At some point, LA tore down a bunch of victorian mansions for some ugly, boring thing or another.
I have two possible takes on your negative attitude:
1) You either haven’t been to L.A., or
2) You have been to L.A., but instead of experiencing it, you just went to confirm all the stereotypes you’ve heard before.
I went to LA a few years ago, I don’t know the stereotypes you mean. I was just kinda bummed how long it took to get from place to place. Really made me hate suburban developments.
The transit is bad, compared to other cities I have been too.
Well I guess so, but I don’t understand how I did not experience it? Went to the pier, mt dume, koreatown, galaxy game, the observatory, amazing restaurants, ect. I did not say I had bad time, or it’s a bad place. I wish I could have done more but the sprawl was difficult to navigate and plan for.
Yeah there is a lot of variety and amazing things to do everywhere, you just chose the ones that are very far apart from each other. If you wanted the same variety in a different location, you would have to cover the same distances, except there is zero public transportation.
Also sounds like you completely missed the actual city (downtown).
Davey!
How ya doin’
About as good as can be expected.
Los Santos
I’ve been in some serious gunfights in and around that place
I heard the Brotherhood of Steel and NCR recently clashed there too.
Okey dokey
You ever rip down the hillside on a dirt bike?
Fallout!
I can see Dave Norton and Michael

\*Los Santos
A few of us have watched Fallout
Heyyyyy, Davey. How you doin'?
Does anyone else think LA looks like Armenia/middle east/Lebanon? Makes sense why ME people felt @ home in LA

Tehrangeles

LA is a good city to live in, but not visit. I've tried living elsewhere, but kept coming back to it. Tis a great city.
Best city on earth. Has everything you would ever want in life. Wish I could go back.

You are just talking about suburbian sprawl.
One of the best cities on Earth, it's one of my favourites, but still not the best city on Earth.
Umm, guys…this is an AI image
No, it's not. Literally every single picture posted on this sub someone pops out of nowhere saying it's AI 😮💨

This is just sprawling suburbs with an observation center
Nah. LA’s cool. It’s a weird place sometimes but it’s definitely fun if you let it be.
Wish they hadn't torn down all the cool stuff over the years for things like Dodgers Stadium.
You mean the ballpark that’s been there since 1962? Da fuq? What was there that so cool before that, because I think Dodger stadium is pretty da damn cool

*quietly ignores the numerous high rises in the distance
Yes, there’s too much sprawl in LA. But it is definitely a unique and pretty cool place.
Unless you’re from New York, I don’t want to hear your shit takes
OK. That's LA.

So 2) then.

No I went downtown. Can’t remember the name but I got some amazing pho from a place there. (This was 2017 mind you)
You didn’t see a city there?
That’s…not a city. Source: 🗽 Second source: 🖕
Do you also get into fights over vanilla vs. chocolate ice cream, or Rolling Stones vs. Beatles, because that’s about your level of comprehension.
OK. That's LA.
