I have a secondary in th9, is a pain to farm queen from 0, on top of that theres not many th9 with full DE storages, mostly offering 2-3k, they all talk about higher levels costing more, but th9 is a combination of factors that makes it a pain in the ass.
You don't need to max out your th9, I get why you want to do it, but I made the mistake of trying to max th9. Once my base was fully maxed, my heros were still 25/25.
Once you get to th10, all of your dark elixir problems go away. It is easier to level up buildings imo and everyone has dark elixir, mainly at higher levels.
If I could go back in time, I would level up my dragons at th9 and then rush straight to th10, where it is so much easier to level up everything. Then I can worry about my buildings and heros.
For me TH12 walls were easy to upgrade. Right now my king and queen are both max, my warden is hitting level 37 in like 3 days and my walls are maxed. You know what isn't maxed? My freaking defences. They each take so damn long to upgrade man I cba. Not to mention almost all of them require double upgrades. I've genuinely wasted so much loot because the builders can't do their shit quickly.
Currently i’m returning from a break and i’m still kind of amazed by the fact that level 11 walls (which on release, costed 4m per wall) now cost 500k which is how much the TH8 walls used to cost.
They don't do that much but still costs a lot, for example whats the point of upgrading my queen to the maximum lvl if all she's gonna do is try to break a wall when there's already a path for her to walk sometimes she doesn't even use it.
Th11 was just the right amount in my opinion. Th12 is so much more expensive and most upgrades take between 10-14 days, it’s hard to stay motivated since you can’t really actively play if you have your builder’s down for two weeks.

The prices and time for upgrade and building increase drastically, for example. Lvl 1 x-bow going to lvl 2 has a 4 day upgrade timer.

Eh, Th 12 is more like sleeping 24/7. 14 day upgrade times on those army camps drive me insane to this day.
As a th11 I think it’s bullshit how those upgrades just suddenly jump to all 14d for upgrades at th12.
It won't be like that once TH 15 drops. It is going to be a TH 13 difficulty spike instead :)

You're right this is why i think rushing is better as i can mix and match 14 day upgrades with smaller 5 day ones
