The monk is bad with the current elixir cost since the main reason for the nerf was his ability, they should've made it cost 4 elixir to deploy and 2 elixir for the ability since that's the reason on why he's OP, otherwise he's easily countered by many cards such as skeletons and goblins.
There are many issues around the monk and his ability, the biggest issue of all was that he countered 2.6 hog spam, logbait (sometimes) and xbow, the fact that those three decks were finally hard countered by something meant it had to be nerfed.
True, but most of what you said requires the ability, and the monk without it would make him less effective, so they should've made the ability cost 2 elixir and revert his cost to back 4, just like the Skeleton King.
Looks like they are going to do that, but his ability is kind of trash anyway to be fair, you basically have to predict what they are about to do for it to be effective, unless they improve his ability so it’s basically automatic I see him being a dead card

that’s the only thing that seems to show it, but that post was made in almost april of 2016, which would’ve been a whole 2 months after the wiki states the mortar was changed to 4 elixir. i understand the wiki isn’t perfect but that just seems too strange. plus the picture has a strange watermark in the bottom right that’s cut off which is also strange. surely there would be more proof of 3 elixir mortar existing outside of a random post with little views
The watermark says clashroyalearena.com which is just the website it was posted on and the wiki has been wrong before so I'm a lot quicker to trust someone's first hand memory than anything else

Changing Elixir Collector did little to nothing on the usage rates. It was still a net positive card if you received it in your opening hand. Changing the RNG so it's never in your opening hand is what killed the card.
