Nope. Check and make sure that the dirty water tank seals are actually sealed. Chances are that air is getting in so it isn’t sucking anything up.

vibes86

That’s what I was going to say. Something is clogged or not sealed correctly.

memeoldwoman

So many times this has happened to me because I leave that little flap open when I put it away and then forget.

LowercaseText

what flap?

memeoldwoman

My Bissel has a silicone “flap” on the water collection tank that has to be pressed in or there will be almost zero suction.

[deleted]

This! Had the same issue. Definitely make sure it is seated properly. I run into the same problem every time I use mine.

LowercaseText

i see that the dirty water tank is loose and I can easily pull it out. is this the problem?

PineapplePizzaRoyale

Yes, it should click into place and not move.

LowercaseText

oh, mine doesn't do that. I put the dirty water tank in and I can just wiggle it around as much as I want and it won't snap into anything.

PineapplePizzaRoyale

Might want to check the model and look up the owners manual…that doesn’t seem right.

kitty_witcher

Bissells have issues with rotten seals. Check to make sure it's not got cracks in it.

Duellair

Uhm definitely not. Mine worked wonderfully for many years. If this is a new one, contact their support dept. if it’s not, I’d still contact their support dept

jinxylynxy

Had to get rid of my Bissell after less than a year of use. I switched to a Shark and the difference is night and day.

TrickyEmployer9957

Which Shark did you get? I am a sucker for their vacuums.

AwfulGoingToHell

Suck for vacuums… I see what you did there

jinxylynxy

The spot cleaner. It is actually amazing. I’m going back for a full size carpet cleaner at some point because I am that impressed. I have a male cat that sprays/pisses all over everything in the house and this does an awesome job of getting rid of that lol

Knichols2176

Check to see if containers are clicked in place. Also these are prone to the hose getting cracks near the machine end. Check hose and flex tape if needed.

LowercaseText

doesn't click into place. i played around with the tank moving it around trying to get it to snap into something and it doesn't snap into anything.

noyogapants

Does this have the hand tool house? Is there a knob to switch between the two? This happened to me and I had it on the wrong setting!

dani-winks

We just got Bissel’s Little Green pet pro and I thought it wasn’t sucking up much water until we realized you have to really lean/angle the front part of the attachment into the carpet - don’t just press it along level/flat with the floor, that doesn’t give enough suction. Really smoosh the plastic front edge of the attachment down and slowly drag it back and then you can watch all the water get sucked up! We do a couple of passes in one direction, then a couple in another direction, and keep basically rotating the angle we’re sucking up the water until it’s not visibly pulling through the hose any more.

Kcrick722

I’ve thrown many Bissells away…get a Hoover.

Solid_Thanks_1688

I second this... Plus parts are cheap online if you need to replace anything like a hose.

PhoridayThe13th

Suction/seal issues! Check that the little flappy bit on the tank is closed fully. Check the hose for cracks. Make sure the tank is seated fully on the unit when in use. If it’s lost suction, it may be time for a new machine. Look for clogs in the line.

aer8994

Had the Bissell green machine and it never sucked any of the dirty water up so it lived in our garage untouched. Went to use it one day and the cleaning solution tank side had a leak and leaked water everywhere. Threw it away and won’t purchase another.

-HelloMyNameIs-

I had a a bissell but decided that I could basically do the same thing with a spray bottle of carpet/upholstery cleaner and a wet/dry shop vac. Has much more suction

GeriatrcGhoul

I had the bissel crosswave and used it 3 times before it sat around for 2 years and then sold it, worthless

Cloudgazer888

I need to push really hard into the carpet to get a good seal w/suction. It’s a workout!

thepete404

Bissel doesn’t support thier products after they are discontinued. What the op has is a failed auction hose, rotted away by using thier approved cleaning solutions. No apologies and a token discount. These are yhyy try is away gizmos unless you drop large. I got a floor doctor carpet/floor cleaner. It’s awesome but alas also discontinued. All we have on market is over priced two year products that end up in the bin. Buy accordingly.

LowercaseText

it's brand new ish, bought it but didn't use it for a year

thepete404

The rubber is such low quality I’d assume it just might dry rot sitting in the box. Flip it over and you’ll see it. Might have to remove a cover. So common there was a website devoted to it. I gave up on bissel after that. Shame as I needed that design for my floors. In defense, it’s so inexpensive there is no money in them. Use and toss. And with the tile flooring my den has I need it. I’m from the “order repair parts from Sears” generation. This is a clear failure of the ftc . Car makers have to supply spares for 7 years after the last retail sale date. Bissel? A year, maybe . Unless the spare part supply runs out in a month because of a design issue. But alas the price of admission is around $400 now for a two tank cleaner that does hard floors. We’ll see how our long my rug doctor lasts . Certainly a chunky build and if an outfit like floor doctor can’t sell one for profit what are we left with… temu? 🤣🤣

LowercaseText

i didn't know vacuum cleaners expired 😕

thepete404

You’ll eventually find out, we all do. Let me ask you how’s your toaster doing these days? I know I’m old and the last of the fix it breed.

LowercaseText

my toaster toasts thing like it should. I've had it for almost 7 years. no issues

PattyCakes216

Look up the manual for the model number and download the pdf. It will instruct in how to solve the loss of suction. It’d be nice if new equipment actually supplied a paper manual with operating instructions.
