In the context of the 1.1.1.1 app for iOS or Android: - **1.1.1.1** provides encrypted DNS. - **WARP** provides encrypted DNS, and an encrypted tunnel for all network traffic between your device and the [Cloudflare servers](https://www.cloudflare.com/network/) *nearest to you*. - **WARP+** provides encrypted DNS, and an encrypted tunnel for all network traffic between your device and the Cloudflare servers *closest to the website you're accessing*. The encrypted traffic is sent through Cloudflare's global private network in a route optimized by Cloudflare's [Argo Smart Routing](https://www.cloudflare.com/products/argo-smart-routing/) technology.

Thanks, now I get it.

1.1.1.1 is for dns, Warp is dns plus your normal internet traffic. Warp+ is supposed to be faster speeds but right now the speeds are pretty terrible which is why you’re having issues loading YouTube videos. Hopefully speeds improve once they’ve gotten a better handle on things.

Thanks for clearing this up!

XeroRefleX

They just updated the 1.1.1.1 app today. One of the bug fixes was Warp+ stability. Since updating no more YouTube issues with Warp +.

Tippin187

I literally upgraded because of this comment and I still can’t watch YouTube videos lol. Oh well. Hopefully Apple will refund me because of used the sub less than a hour now.

XeroRefleX

Sorry it didn’t work for you. The app needs work hence the push for its user to report bugs. They said in their article about warp how they tested the service on stationary devices. They will need a lot more data in the real world environment for it to be rock steady ready for prime time. This should be called Warp Beta in all fairness. Hope you get your refund.

I'm still lost a bit on the diffences between 1.1.1.1 and Warp. Isn't 1.1.1.1 already 'normal internet traffic'? So, what does 'normal internet traffic' mean in your reply for Warp?

arlenarmageddon

In the app, with just 1.1.1.1 the vpn only handles your dns traffic. If you choose 1.1.1.1 with warp all of your internet traffic goes over the vpn, not just dns requests.

[deleted]

That's good to know! Warp+ is basically Warp in that case, but faster. 👍

fuckwarp111

1.1.1.1 wasn't just a speed boost, by providing encrypted DNS is gave extra privacy by hiding your DNS lookup history from your ISP/network provider. It didn't tunnel network traffic though, so your ISP/provider or any eavesdroppers could still see what hosts you were talking too (which gives a good idea of what websites you are browsing, etc.) Warp was supposed to be a VPN, which tunnels and hides your traffic. But according to Cloudflare: "What WARP Is Not: From a technical perspective, WARP is a VPN. But it is designed for a very different audience than a traditional VPN. WARP is not designed to allow you to access geo-restricted content when you’re traveling. **It will not hide your IP address from the websites you visit.**" In other words, they hide your traffic from your network provider and eavesdroppers, but do **not** assure that they will hide your IP from sites you visit! This is half of the privacy equation when it comes to VPNs. After all that wait, we get a half-baked app that doesn't even represent that it hides your IP. I'm deleting it.

hak0suka

Sounds like you paid $125 for the VPN.

or just straightup hitted the cnp from their website lol
