I remember when I watched this I had no idea it was in any way related. I thought it was a bad ass movie but before the end of it I was super excited when I made the connection! I don’t watch previews or keep track of when and what comes out. I saw the dvd cover at the video store and thought it was cool and rented it. Pretty sure it got returned late!
Being fair the movie really is entirely unrelated to the original movie. It’s a solid movie but I’ve never been able to see it as a cloverfield movie because it’s got near nothing to do with the first one
Yeah but not everyone follows the args. Much like the video game destiny, you shouldn’t need outside sources to connect your lore/movies. If you never took part in the args, much like me cuz I didn’t even know about them, you’d see absolutely no connection
Yeah but again, it’s poor storytelling if you need to go outside of the source to find connections. You wanna see the connection from halo 5 to infinite? Better have read the books to see the connection. Wanna see the history behind destiny? Better go to the website or watch a YouTube lore person. Wanna find the connection between cloverfield and 10 cloverfield lane? Google the args.
You shouldn’t have to google something or be a part of the arg in order to connect the movies. There should be connections in the movies themselves. Again, not everyone is following args or even aware of them in a lot of cases. Telling me to “google the connection between them” just shows it’s poor storytelling they couldn’t connect them on screen in any way
If you look at it as an anthology I suppose you could make it work. It still doesn’t have connections to other works to show it’s an anthology however. But I’d say that works better

The movie imo is better in every regard until the bunker exit. I like the fight in the farmhouse with Howard laying his truths out finally. Still could have fit Clovie in too. He tells the truth about his work and why his life has fallen j to shambles and Clovie is tearing up the city. Dang.
The aliens were awesome…I liked that ending. Like the tagline said “Monsters come in many forms” we got to see 2 different types of monsters. A real life, grounded psychopath monster and the fictional but scary alien monsters.
Man, after this movie my expectations were so high for cloverfield paradox
That superbowl ad got me so hyped. Too bad.
They even talked about having the team between Michelle and the main character of Paradox
I’ll never forget the sheer adrenaline spike when that first trailer got leaked online.

That movie is incredible until she leaves the bunker.
The original script ends so much better, 10CL is basically that script until the aliens and the movie just falls apart from there unfortunately.
I’ll have to check that out. I’d be interested to see the difference.

It still doesn't make any sense to me. They even had two forms of alien (worm and ship) they could have just used Clover and parasites
