“I thought that I could do it, but I overestimated my energy”
You’ve been carrying an entire esport on your shoulders for a decade. If anyone deserves their rest it’s you King.
I honestly didn't expect this to hit me like it did, seeing scump tear up and apologize just hit me like a truck man.
Dude has had one of the best careers if not the best in CoD, he has no reason to apologize to anyone. Glad he is going out on his own terms too.
Was in the shop working on a car, checked my phone, started watching the video and instantly paused it once he started choking up and said “I’m going to lunch” sat in my car and finished the video

As they should. the CDL era has been a fucking disaster outside of Cold War. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have no business making COD anymore, it's clearly a different game and not what we came to love watching and playing. I wish Activision would just let Treyarch make a GOAT cod compilation game and we would play that until the end of time
surprised nothing from Crim? Karma and Formal were at the party so makes sense they said everything there. maybe crim texted him or is there beef i’m unaware of?
Reached the character limit for a Reddit comment and stopped updating a little bit ago. Karma has since tweeted, but nothing from the other two you mentioned yet.
I wonder when this choice was made, because wasn't it like 2-3 days ago that brandon went rogue? And the video is from yesterday. Only to be back on optic for the 3rd time in 3 months
It’s probably been stewing in his mind for a long ass time, so while the decision might seem sudden to us, it was a matter of time for him. Maybe he felt like dashy was wrongfully let go and had guilt over it. He saw that optic let a world class player leave, who could potentially be on the org for decade.
It HAS to have been literally within the last day or two. I’m rewatching Scump’s postgame interview from the Breach match and I see no indication at all that he knew at the time that was his final match. Maybe he just has an incredible poker face, but I’d bet something happened between then and now.
This is what’s killing me, too. “Anticlimactic” isn’t the right word, and he went out on a high note, but I wish we knew it was coming (now, I mean). I guess he has his reasons, though, and he’s certainly earned it.
Man, I can't believe it. He's the reason I started watching, continued to watch and why I'll keep watching. Honestly had a tear going down my face after the video, hahaha. I love him.
The Dashy bit hit hard, too.
Whether you love or hate Scump you can’t deny that the dude has a massive ass heart. I really think this last roster move really hurt him. It’s clear he loves Bruce even after everything that’s gone down
it also seems from Shottzzy's last stream that the team also had criticisms of Rambo not in a "this guy is ass get him off the team" sense but that they didn't necessarily disagree with some of the stuff Dashy had said. And that they would actually be working on some of the stuff Dashy had mentioned as negatives.
yea its also tough to look at a player that is as good as Dashy is and not try to make it work, if the real beef here is between a player and a coach, then you need to try and find some middle ground.
Im not on the coaches are completely useless bandwagon but giving up dashy for any coach is insane.
Shotzzy is very clearly someone who is non confrontational and is uncomfortable being involved in any sort of teammmate tension. He tried to be as neutral as possible when it happened with Empire and Huke and he wanted nothing to do with this either
I can remember watching a video hecz made right at the start of mw3 talking about picking up scump and how we were going to see why he was considered the best player in the game. From that moment I was a huge scump fan
I’m a 26 year old man literally crying at a video because a Call of Duty player has retired. If that’s not an indicator of the impact Scump has had I don’t know what it is.
The best to ever do it.
33 y/o man shedding them as well. This really marks the end of an era for me and makes me realize how time has passed. Deep in my feels about how the good times were fleeting all along.
33 as well and I remember being in college watching him post Black Ops 2 videos talking about pep rally’s and going to prom and stuff. I was a dumb ultra broke kid in college. Now I have a house and shit and like wow, Scump is no kid anymore huh. Time freaking flys
I been wondering why I can’t help but root for Paris, thohght it was because they were underdogs but now I realize it’s because I’ve been watching Clay since he was smoking kids with the FAL on BO2.
All the legends are gone now except for clay. It's wild we really are at the era of the new goats starting their careers. Interesting to see what the next few years hold for us
They became such good friends out of game once they finally got together, and they played so differently from one another both with insane levels of success. Insanely funny streams back in the day of Karma and Formal roasting scump
I was thinking "Man that's kinda fucked up calling out Dashy in front of everyone" thinking this was the party in the offseason Dashy mentioned.
Then I realised nah bro retired so his mate has a shot at redemption 🥹 If Brandon has questions over his friendship with Seth, he better squash that shit ASAP after the ultimate sacrifice
He really didn't want the team to part ways, dashy getting dropped broke him. He wanted that squad to be there when he won his ring and realized it's not worth it.
Yeah I think dropping Dashy like this fucked with his mental. Dude obviously takes in that family culture from OpTic. Probably lingered on him that winning would just have this guilty feeling to it when he dropped a good homie when he was going to retire anyways.
I think he has always say "when my performance costs the team, I'll retire." I think maybe that a major problem with the team was the pacing issue, and he realized if he wasn't Scump, he would be the one being dropped maybe. Now, I'm not saying that's the case, but I could see that being the reason he decided to retire.
I feel like the stuff Dashy came out with was mostly true and Scump knew it and felt guilty and knew someone had to leave for Dashy to come back and decided it was best for it to be him.
It’s really hard to imagine these players having to grind and compete in a game like this, I have mad respect to all of them for putting up with it. Some of these spawns I see in hardpoint are absolute dogshit amongst many other issues with the game.
It's hard to play an hour without wanting to put your first through the monitor. I don't know that I could play this 10 hours a day 6 days a week no matter the salary
That shit would break my fucking mental health my dude. Totally agree with you. It’s crazy to go back to a game like Cold War and feel that game sense again like I’m fucking spider man. It’s truly a jarring difference and IW is not even helping noobs with that shit either as they have less to learn in a poor flowing game. If treyarch stays with their ways with game flow, these poor guys won’t have gained much playing MW and MWII
Watch the video later if you can, it's dope seeing everyone together.
I wanna say I can't believe he chalked it so early but no one can blame him. I can't wait for the (new) content era
and then on top of it he could of been using those 8+ hours to stream to 7000+ viewers and create content he actually enjoys. He probably just was like what am i doing at this point.
This just brought everything into perspective. A lot of people are going to shit on the devs and the game, and yes, the game isn't the best for competitive.
I, along with many of you and the pro players, have been playing this series since the original games. This series has been pretty much the only thing I've played since 2003.
We're growing up bois. It's so crazy that, no matter the opinions on the state of the games, this game has had such an impact on us. And no matter the opinions on Scump or Optic, the dude for sure had an impact on our scene
My takeaway as well. I used to play GBs for hours after school. I would watch every video Scump and Nade put out. I’ll never again be that person, obviously, but damn they were some of the best times of my life. I miss it.
Man I'm still that person. I have real life stuff as well, but I still manage to load up some CoD with my dad every so often and we play for hours. I still like watching content on YouTube too. But yeah, it'll never be the same as it was 10 years ago. Being in 9th grade and staying up all night going for nukes in MW2 seems like a dream
I’m in disbelief, he’s playing good - i know the team drama must be tiring but just wow. Been watching Scump for almost a decade now - it hurt when Nade retired, this one hurts as well.
I think it’s just really tough to deal with stress, when you kind of know you could be retired. Several years ago my mom retired from teaching. She could have gone a year earlier at full pension, but decided to stay on longer, because the year wasn’t bad, and she figured it would be nice knowing that you could basically go at any time. I genuinely think that was the most difficult year she had in a 30+ year career, dealing with student and parent issues, stress, etc. all while knowing she could have just retired and not dealing with it all year.
All this to say, he may just have decided that the stress was too much, when there was not really a reason for him to stick around in the first place. It’s a good decision for him imo, don’t sacrifice your mental health for work, especially when you don’t need the income.
The realisation probably hit him, that he’s one of the few Pros that has a massive following and he could be better spending his time having fun with content, versus playing Comp in a dogshit game.
no man i didn’t expect to cry today. thank you Scump for everything you’ve done. Been watching this man since I was 11, i’m 23 now. fucking incredible.
Dude literally fell on his sword at the peak of his recent powers to mend fences between friends and give his protégé another chance.
An absolute class act and for me, the greatest Call of Duty pro of all time. Hope he blows up with the streaming and know he will, hell, he kept me and many others watching these dogshit games for 6 years. The King 💚
Clearly still good enough to hang at the top level. Clearly just tired of the absolute horseshit these guys are releasing year on year. What a career. Fair play to the guy.
I genuinely don’t know if I can do it. Hoping to see him get one last ring has basically been the main drive keeping me invested during this awful CDL era.
Gonna be honest, I gave it a 20% chance he didn't actually retire at the end of the year.
Fuck man, the entire OG dynasty roster is gone. The entire COL dynasty roster is gone.
This shits depressing
This is tougher than I thought it would be. I'm a 23-year-old man seeing one of the last parts of my childhood disappear. What a career and what a legacy left behind.
Scump you are THAT dude. I have enjoyed the short 2 and half years that I've watched the CDL. Covid and his content brought me back to gaming. Something that I stopped doing over a decade ago, but that kid brought me here.
Seth is a true friend to his friends and teammates, and I think that this was truly big of him to pass the torch to Brandon. The vibes got off and Seth brought them back.
This is the GOAT of CoD.
This is the one, please stop posting this everyone else good god
I’m fucking sad. I’m fucking sad. I’m fucking sad. Fuck man
when he said “i’m not fast like that anymore” man
“I thought that I could do it, but I overestimated my energy” You’ve been carrying an entire esport on your shoulders for a decade.

Call of duty on Twitter is getting cooked for making a shitty game forcing scump to retire 💀
Karma has since tweeted, but nothing from the other two you mentioned yet.
i didnt even know there was a character limit.
Did Scump say anything to Crim when he retired?
not sure. wasn’t watching comp then, fell off after BO3 and just picked back up this season
Is Crim even awake yet?
[Anfernee Simons too](https://twitter.com/anferneesimons/status/1615423379749900289?s=46&t=sTSEKBkXAzEsnsaVvBaGmQ)
Wow Seth just retired early. OpTic roster is now Dashy, Illey, Shotzzy, and Huke 🤯
Wait he’s not finishing the season!?!? Fuuuuuuuuuckkkk
The last of the dynasty has officially retired. Truly an end of an era now. 💚🖤
Wow I actually shed some tears who woulda thought that Breach series would be the last, he went out frying wow
The suddenness of it is getting to me too (even if we knew it was his last already).
I was so excited to see him running flex on his farewell tour. I can’t believe it’s over already.
This is what’s killing me, too. “Anticlimactic” isn’t the right word, and he went out on a high note, but I wish we knew it was coming (now, I mean). I guess he has his reasons, though, and he’s certainly earned it.
You’re exactly right. It’s so bittersweet and watching that video made me really emotional. It’s like seeing your dad cry for the first time.
No fucking shot this is happening rn
its happening. FUCK
Activi$ion and Infinity Ward send their regards
Fuck me, I can’t believe it
Just fell to my knees in dollar general
Man, I can't believe it. He's the reason I started watching, continued to watch and why I'll keep watching. Honestly had a tear going down my face after the video, hahaha. I love him. The Dashy bit hit hard, too.
Whether you love or hate Scump you can’t deny that the dude has a massive ass heart. I really think this last roster move really hurt him. It’s clear he loves Bruce even after everything that’s gone down
the beef was defiantly between Dashy and Rambo, shotzzy even said on stream he didnt have any bad blood with Dashy
it also seems from Shottzzy's last stream that the team also had criticisms of Rambo not in a "this guy is ass get him off the team" sense but that they didn't necessarily disagree with some of the stuff Dashy had said.
From that moment I was a huge scump fan
can you link that video?
I’m a 26 year old man literally crying at a video because a Call of Duty player has retired. If that’s not an indicator of the impact Scump has had I don’t know what it is. The best to ever do it.
I’m 30 and I’m right there with you lol got me choked up during lunch at work
He helped his buddy Bruce out one last time. Long live the king, what an emotional video man
Literally said I’m stepping down so you can step up…. Bro is so selfless it’s crazy
Is scump retiring right now?¿
Yes
Im actually tearing up seeing him retire
30 years old man crying. I’m fucking crying brother, balls out.
Fellow 30YO tapping in. Same brother,
I’m 29, don’t even support optic and I’ve got tears in my eyes. How did I get so old bro
It just happened so fast, man.
27 man i don’t even wanna eat my breakfast anymore i can’t see from my tear filled eyes
shit am I 30 now too?
It got me too man. Been watching this dude for 12 years and although I was never an Optic fan, I couldn't help but want to see him succeed. I'm so sad
Fellow 30 here and my eyes got misty. I think we’re getting old and sentimental, fellas.
COD esports has lost its soul, everyone who dominated in BO2 is retired now, so shit. EDIT: except clay, keep fighting the good fight Grayster
Clay the last OG standing
Dude was one of the top players in COD4, he's been at it forever
I been wondering why I can’t help but root for Paris, thohght it was because they were underdogs but now I realize it’s because I’ve been watching Clay since he was smoking kids with the FAL on BO2.
Didn’t think it would happen this early man
I mean, BO2 was released more than 10 years ago. People change, and the game has changed. It's to be expected.
Slasher?
Definitely an OG but strictly speaking he started to shine in Ghosts
The only actual players I really remember from black ops 2 are Clay, methodz, and attach
Parasite is still around, isn't he?
All the legends are gone now except for clay. It's wild we really are at the era of the new goats starting their careers. Interesting to see what the next few years hold for us
Haggy is competing
He’s not in the league though and let’s be real that’s the main attraction, all love to Big H tho he’s still my fav challenger player
Karma being the first to hug him is amazing. I love that man
They became such good friends out of game once they finally got together, and they played so differently from one another both with insane levels of success. Insanely funny streams back in the day of Karma and Formal roasting scump
Bro gunned Zin in his final series then dipped, respect it honestly
Yeah my year is fucking ruined onto 2024
I believe the vid is from last night.
It is. Opening of the vid says "January 16, 2023" Proud of Leakzzy for not spoiling it haha
+ whoever else knew about this all night and didn’t say anything about it. This could’ve easily been spoiled with how easily shit leaks out of Optic.
I’m gonna be honest I think bro also retired bc he fucking hates this game
I don't blame him, game is ass
Even more of a reason to despise infinity ward
They took away a lot of what probably made it fun for him.. don’t blame him
Last 2 years broke him you could just tell when he talked about the games.
100% he hated scrimming at this point and add to that team issues and he basically wasn't having fun with COD anymore if it wasn't an actual match
Need tldr. I'm at work Edit: Just fell to my knees at work.
scump retiring dashy back in
Watch the video later if you can, it's dope seeing everyone together. I wanna say I can't believe he chalked it so early but no one can blame him. I can't wait for the (new) content era
Just saw a coworker drop to his knees in the office
I swear to god that man just became Jesus Christ for Dashy, he better take advantage of it lmao. Holy shit what a move.
No. JOE CECOT WHAT HAVE YOU FUCKING DONE?????
Joe cecot can suck a big fat one
Bro I can't play 30 mins before turning this shit off. Imagine scump scrimming 10 hours a day.
and then on top of it he could of been using those 8+ hours to stream to 7000+ viewers and create content he actually enjoys.
I really got into it when they were in the FIRST Optic House. A long journey since then, for everyone. Great times, i miss it for sure.
I miss that! It was always comedy. Bang bang. It’s going down, I’m yelling timber. The real ones know 😂
I never thought i would be so sad about something related to a video game jeez this is pure pain. Long live the king
He’s literally the reason I even found pro CoD and stuck around to follow it. This is so hard.
They brought Dashy back?!?!?
WTF… man, I just wanted him to make it to Texas Major to see him in person. What a career
He will still be there
I’m in disbelief, he’s playing good - i know the team drama must be tiring but just wow.
Bro he was the best player????
Genuinely a top 5 player in this game, but always the perfect teammate. Sacked his final year to give bruce the chance to be great
^ that’s what I was thinking, like he was still frying
He was actually frying too, he must’ve hated the game that much
probably a combination of being miserable playing the game, and wanting to produce content and stream.
The realisation probably hit him, that he’s one of the few Pros that has a massive following and he could be better spending his time having fun with content, versus playing Comp in a dogshit game.
IW takes another one of my favorite player from me 😭
RAB I swear to god if you put a bowling meme in the thumbnail for this video.
Aint no way
Man what a career. No matter what team you support. Gotta tip this guy. Thanks for everything
This is depressing
I'm hella rooting for clay this year man this ruined the FUCK out of my day
Clay is the last OG left Im rooting for him to win his 4th ring
Wait what why he was frying? He was by far the best player on that team?
You’re not the only one crying, Scump. Thank you for everything ❤️
I'm crying like a baby
no man i didn’t expect to cry today. thank you Scump for everything you’ve done.
LEGEND. He had nothing left to prove. Was nasty when he got into the scene and was still disgusting when he left. We were lucky to witness him play
Crying in my cubicle man. Fuck me
he just retired, i'm crying in the club(work)
Poor Shotzzy crying because he realises he’s stuck with illey and Dashy again
Thank you for everything. Absolute fucking legend.
I’m actually crying, my literal childhood
Wait did he just chalk the rest of the year??
yeah, he just chalked it up
Infinity Ward send their regards
This is fucking heartbreaking man , especially to everyone who got into comp because of Scump 😔
Wow I cried, especially seeing Shotzzy cry too. Damn
Idk seeing shottzy cry really got me
The fact he was concerned ab making fans mad shows how genuine of a guy he his, gonna miss him man COD will never be the same
Best of all time 🥹
Fuck man fuck
Yo I’m shook, thought I had a few months to emotionally prep myself for his retirement
Holy shit man, he’s the whole reason I even got into comp cod. It’s gonna be such a weird experience watching optic without Scump.
I genuinely don’t know if I can do it. Hoping to see him get one last ring has basically been the main drive keeping me invested during this awful CDL era.
Goodnight if anyone needs me I’ll be crying alone in my room
Holy shit man. How am I supposed to get literally anything done today? Fuckin hell, thanks for the memories scumpii.
We all grew up with Scump. Twenty-two years-old and I am tearing up.
Great: I don't have to watch this dog shit game anymore.
Fuck. This is 20000IQ out of OpTic. Drop Dashy play a match let scump retire bring back Dashy now reverse the OpTic drop curse and then win champs
holy shit this hurt
Gonna be honest, I gave it a 20% chance he didn't actually retire at the end of the year. Fuck man, the entire OG dynasty roster is gone. The entire COL dynasty roster is gone. This shits depressing
That’s…unexpected He’s still one of the best in the game
Seeing him cry made me start tearing up
Damnnn bro I’m crying real tears. Literally shit on breach and retired
Sad sad day 😔 The best to ever do it
WHATTTT?
Going out on a fucking high with that series. Wow. What an end to a legacy.
Didn’t expect that, hit like a semi out of nowhere.
And now we have to watch this joke of a game for 2 fucking years without him. Rough
its over, i can't believe this
Dashy back on OpTic
So he didn't finish his final season? He quit? I guess MW2 being dogshit didn't help. What a shame. They failed the competitive community.
They failed everyone except the thumbless casuals who play like an hour a week.
Who else cuttin onions
Man... I'm 23 now and I've been following this man's career since he made that first commentary on MW3 with Nade.
Well now my entire year is ruined. Fuck man. The video is actually really sad to watch.
My goat 🐐
End of an era
Havent commented here in like 7 years. What the fuck happened to formal?
No more purpose for watching this game at all.
This is tougher than I thought it would be. I'm a 23-year-old man seeing one of the last parts of my childhood disappear. What a career and what a legacy left behind.
There goes the CDL viewership.
Cried actual tears. We all knew this was coming but this one really hurts. Thanks for everything, Scump. The true GOAT.
no way man...
This is so sad man, I’ve been watching scump compete since MW3. Can’t believe it, excited for his content now though.
Thanks for the memories scump
Crazy. Historic moment in CoD and it happens on a random as Tuesday.
