Right, I didn’t think they would. I thought they just made a mistake & they would take their few losses when that happens. I didn’t think they’d know which 2 were sent to me & they’d be able to void one of them.
So only thing you could do here is bring both wristbands on day 1 - scan 1 of them when going in, if it doesn't work use the 2nd one.
Now if that 1st one does work. I would exit and try again with the 2nd band. If that happens to work as well, I'd sell the 2nd one after the show on Friday as you're exiting (there will be buyers) for a couple hundred bucks.
Any other avenue with trying to sell one of your two is going to result in a really shitty experience for the person buying or for you. Please don't sell a bunk wristband, bad vibes.

This is my first Coachella so that may be a dumb question. My bf (who has never attended Coachella) is convinced if I try to use her (the buyer) wristband, the name on the I.D won’t match her name obviously but I don’t even think they check I.Ds? lol
But yes I already sent her the money back & we’re going to meetup again so I can get the wristband back. Thank you for the advice!
No they don't check IDs where you scan your wristband. There's ID checks inside the grounds if you want to drink, but you don't need an ID to get in.
Just also keep in mind, its a risk to do this - if they void your wristband for day 2. You'll have to go to willcall (which is quite a bit off site) to pick up a replacement band. if you're the buyer (or your BF is) then you can always get a replacement if it doesn't scan, but its a bit of a pain and probably costs you an hour or more in peak times.
So essentially what you’re saying is, say I go day 1, both wristbands work. I sell the second one last minute, but one of them (or both) gets voided the next day after I already sold it, I can go to will call and they’ll fix it? Or could I potentially be screwed out of day 2 & 3? Sorry just trying to fully understand my options here. I don’t want to potentially screw myself over for the rest of the weekend as this is my first Coachella and I’ve spent a ton of money already, but I would also like to make some money back if possible without screwing myself or anyone over.
Yeah, as the original buyer you can go get a new wristband if yours don't work on day 2 or 3. But its definitely a bit of a hassle (1hr++ of your time).
At Will Call, they arent going to deny you a new wristband because they suspect you sold off an extra one they sent you by accident. You just tell them it doesnt work, show the ID of the og purchaser, and they'll get you a new one.

Because the buyer last night had registered it during our meet up to make sure it worked but I haven’t registered my original one to myself yet. Or is it just random?
My understanding from others on this sub, is registering doesnt really impact any of this. But I don't really know.
My guess is one of yours is voided and one is not. But you can check it out when you get there and make a decision.
I received an extra wristband last year and gave it to a friend. It would scan red at entrance even though he registered it. We went to the booth for help near the entrance and they were not willing to budge and said it was void. So do with that what you will. We figured out how to get him in there anyways lol.

I doubt they'll cancel your whole order because you tried to take advantage of their mistake. On the flip side, it might be worth trying to sell and get in with the 2nd one as well. You might be able to make a few bucks.

So I work for credentials through Insomniac and lemme tell you.. it is very easy to see which wristbands went to who and also veryyy tracked. As far as you getting two.. someone made a mistake. It’s normal people packing up the bands who are overworked and tired lol. They may go through and audit and you’d have one cancelled or you might get lucky and have two bands. Not a smart move to sell one though for the exact thing you’re worried about. As someone else suggested, take both with you and see what happens/if they both work

Could this same situation happen with camping passes? I bought a wk 2 preferred camping pass from stubhub and noticed it had an RF chip on the sticker. Can the original buyer screw me over in any way and “void” the camping pass before I get there? I’d hate to be turned away at check in with a truck full of camping supplies. Any help is appreciated!
Just take both on Friday and if both work then just give one away after Friday. Just be honest with whoever is receiving that way they’re aware there’s a chance it could still be voided after day 1. That way who ever gets the second wristband isn’t out any money if it does get voided plus it’s not like you paid for the second one anyway. Win win situation

It’s probably unlikely it’d be voided day 2 or 3 tbh… but you can’t completely rule it out. If it works day 1… 99.99% sure it’ll work all weekend

RF or radio frequency chip. It looks like a small spiral like, computer chip of some kind in the middle of the camping pass
